It's hot here!

It is rainy, foggy and hot! My house is 79 degrees so I turned the air on for a little while.

Of course.....I have been baking bread all day too...LOL

It is 90 outside and seems even worse inside.
We usually don't need air conditioning.
Seems like I have been saying that a lot this fall.

Thanks Tigerdunes for the info. I am going to meet with my HVAC installer on Thursday to talk about how best to decrease the airflow while the compressor is on to allow sufficient water to be condensed from interior air -- with goal to keep my internal humidity below 60% (or more). Re your comments 1-4: 1. No crawlspace, house is 9 ft elevated on stilts. I do have a vapor barrier on bottom of R-38 batting in floor. 2. I never run fan in "ON" mode, however, it runs a whole lot on slow speed without compressor running in "Auto" and/or "Cool" mode -- which I think may increase the humidity like "ON" mode as noted by contributors in this forum thread. However I must solve the more major problem of not removing sufficient humidity when the compressor IS running on, first. Then address this if high humidity is still an issue. 3. I agree that attemping to re-program dipswitch settings, even with the manual, is foolhardy for a person not trained in HVAC and Trane eqpt. in particular. 4. Will attempt to get air handler air speed to be more correctly matched to dehumidification needs. Especially in light of your and ryanhughs comments: "First, that air handler will come factory set for an airflow suitable for 3.5 tons, so it should be adjusted for both the high and low stages of your 3 ton unit (4TWX6036 is a 3 ton). Second, is Comfort-R enabled?" Thanks again to all for your continuing assistance. I will post how this does (hopefully!) get resolved. KR

Volts * Amps = Watts 6,000 watts / 120 volts = 50 amps @ 120 volts A small residential electrical panel is 100 amps. Each appliance has a name plate with the amperage and voltage - you need to add them all together. It should be less than 50. IMO - it's not practical - you will have to store 5? 10? gallons of gasoline, it will run constantly and be very noisy - you will need some long extension cords rated at 15 amps. Save the money and go to a motel for a day.

sktn77a, The savings one house will see in monetary value can be quite different from another house. 1 such caveat is the price you pay for electricity. 2. What in the house uses power / how much. Things like pools and pool heaters not to mention a list of other possibilities. 3. Changes in electric price. I've seen this before in the way of a complaint(s) --- to the point of which I suspected a problem with the utility meter. There's only so much you can prove one way or the other. I've heard the flip side of this in which someone complained of high electric bills only to determine their electric meter was updated to smart meter. So how would you prove that the old meter (analog) wasn't some how giving away free power? There was another customer I came across long time ago that updated their system to new. They had an old 10 SEER unit before that was 3 phase 208/230 --- they up graded to 12 SEER but the 3 phase power was cut out and converted to 240v single phase. So under that parameter I think you could see what you are experiencing. (What a guess is worth?) This job is an in person job it would be impossible to say why your situation turned out as it did. Other than there is a reason for everything and every possibility. I was paying roughly 10 cent per kwh in 2019/2020 (new AC inverter) at a use of roughly 5800 kwh a year = $580 annually at that rate. Now I'm paying around 15 cent per kwh in 2022 ( 3 year old AC inverter) same usage 5800 x .15 = $870. Where's the savings? If all you do is compare the value of the bill from an old bill in which the price changed?

The weather man says we will only get in the lower 60's tomorrow with a low of mid 30's. I can see this kind of weather changes a signal for people to get sick with colds and pneumonia. What a drastic change for us!
But this IS North Florida.....it gets cold here!

I was out grilling steaks too. I made italian bread and grilled some up with garlic butter on it to go with the steaks.

I know it is cold up north...I don't think I would be able to drive in snow and ice...it would scare me to death!

Thought I was going to have to turn it on, but we got a nice breeze this afternoon. Here in central FL it's going to be 80 tomorrow. But Sunday morning down to 49 with highs in the 60's. I love warm weather!!

OK, in 30's with snow flurries. Was in 20's yesterday and windy. But then I like the cooler weather.

Supposed to be hotter here tomorrow and Sunday. I like our version of Indian Summer, as long as it stays below 90.

we've had the A/C on 2 days in a row now. thur was extra humid from rain and a bit warm low 80's, today was mid 80's and humid almost fl summer like. infact it's 74 outside right now... a couple of weeks ago it was sooo cold i had to break out a space heater(just to heat the room i was in) & electric blanket, i refuse to run the house heat this yr after going w/o last & saving nicely. sunday we are expecting record lows :-0 wish it would just stay low 80's and dry out till april when it's back to the 90's for 7 months ~ liz
