I know those circles are all too uniform to be what they look like to me, but I can't help thinking that they look like either water droplets or condensation. On what, I have no idea.

Is it some sort of a bowl with a handle on it? The brown part looks a bit transparent and could be quite light in weight and the handle thingy looks to me like it could be bamboo or silver. I am probably way off here and I'm really interested to find out what it actually is. Don't keep us waiting too long, alisande.

It may have alredy been guessed, I didn't look at the other answers yet. I am guessing you are looking up into the bottom of a drinking glass (or something similar). Those are the bottom of straws. I don't know what the darker line would be. Probably the edge of a glass table that you have the other item placed on.

Okay! You're looking down into my dog Wolfy's food dish. You can see the fine scratches on the stainless steel. The dark band is the perimeter of the bottom of the dish. I had cooked up some chicken scraps for him, and when I poured the broth into his dish the fat formed perfect circles that glowed golden under the kitchen light.

So that's it. Very mundane. But very mysterious. :-)
