A couple of years ago I watched the whole series of Prison Break. It's pretty old now but maybe you haven't seen it yet. I see they have the Hunger Games. That was a good movie, if you haven't already seen it.

We haven't signed up for Netflix because I can never find anything I want to see that we haven't already seen -- especially TV series. Our library has always had so many great British series on DVD. I guess we'll have to try Netflix though this year in Hawaii since the Blockbuster stores have closed! (Oh, joy, another new registration and setup procedure awaits me!)

I'm watching House of Cards now and then I think I will watch Weeds and maybe Dexter. Have you seen The Intouchables? That's great. Also In Translation and The King's Speech. The Kids Are Alright was alright (lol). Streaming Netflix does not have as many good movies as DVD Netflix.

We watched Shakespeare in Love last night. I didn't think I'd like it, but I really really did.

We like Fringe too.

Try Sherlock, a British production that places a modern Sherlock Holmes in contemporary times with PCs and smartphones. Only 6 episodes, a bit quirky but fun. Excellent acting.

I was just "trying" to watch The Painted Veil, on Amazon Prime, and fell asleep....that happens a lot, but didn't happen while I was watching the Shakespeare movie.

Accused is a set of individual stories by the BBC which is wonderful. They are up to 10 episodes now. Also, A Late Quartet is a great movie with Philip Seymour Hoffman. There's also Mad Men, a fascinating glimpse of the sixties, and you can watch it streaming up to and including season 5.

Thank you everyone. I picked up quite a few movies. It's true, dedtired, the streaming movies aren't as good as the DVD movies, but there are good streaming movies. You just have to dig for them. That's why I asked here--I wasn't coming up with much.

Chisue, I believe you can still sign up with Netflix for streaming OR mailed DVD's. If you signed up, you could have them mailed to HI address, then let them know when you want to cancel the service. I've never done this, but it seems doable. My experience with Netflix is that they have excellent customer service. For streaming, I had to buy an Apple TV device (there are other brands) and set it up. Not sure what that would entail in your situation.

Do you like mysteries? Episodes of the British "Midsomer Murders" are usually quite good. I also like "Page Eight" and the TV series "Parenthood"; "Steven Fry in America" (the British comedian touring the states -- very funny and instructive); and the movie "Hear My Song."

"Bleak House" with Gillian Anderson (of the X-Files) was on PBS a few years ago and is on Netflix now. (I guess I just gravitate toward anything with British accents!)

And it's a good time for the movie "Love Actually" if you missed it in theaters!

We recently watched The Heat with Sandra Bullock, it was very funny. We enjoyed it. We watched it on Direct TV pay per view. Also good was White House Down.

Late to the Downton Abbey party, but it appears to be gone from streaming :-( Just watched through Season 2 Revenge. It gets tedious but clothes and some scenery are gorgeous and I must know what happens next!! We cancelled DVDs because of no closed captioning. No CC on streaming either, so I mostly watch when DH naps. Will try our library for DA, and maybe it will have CC.

You can go off and on w/either DVDs or streaming very smoothly. I think its through "your account" or similar at Netflix.

We watched Flight - it was pretty good, but not what I'd expected. Olympus is Down was a good action thriller, rewatched Hunger Games. Interesting thriller/horror movie with a twist was The Awakening.

Just love the 'Heartland' series.

Not sure if you can get from netflix, but I really enjoyed a series several years ago on HBO, Empire Falls.

Just looked on the Netflix website, but they don't even list Broadchurch. Whoever recommended it must have watched it on a different medium, not Netflix.

We've watched two of the four segments of Midsomer Murders, Set 22. (On a DVD from our library.) We must be getting close to having seen 100 of these mysteries.

We have one more segment of The Paradise to watch. (Recorded on DVR from PBS.) I hear there is to be another season of this adaptation of an Emile Zola story.

liz_ga - apparently there is a setting on our Apple TV for CC when streaming. Will have to have DS check it out.

Lack of CC on DVDs from Netflix has been a complaint of many people. That's why I stopped getting the DVDs, which for the most part don't have CC.

We set our Apple TV to get CC. Unfortunately, there are some movies that do not have CC.

We love Netflix!

Has anyone watched "Call The Midwife" series? I love all of them. I know there are at least 3 seasons of them, maybe 4 on Netflix. I love all the characters and the music. For those that like crime type movies, "The Following" with Kevin Bacon is really good also..It's a series.

I've been watching "Fringe" on Netflix and "The 4400"...tv shows that ended too soon in my book...

I've been watching a lot of the food documentaries. Knives Over Forks, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. Engine #??.

I watched The Tudors. Plenty of sex, plenty of violence, plenty of history! I liked it.

McLeod's Daughters, 5 women run a cattle station in Australia. It's a great series & 8 seasons so it takes awhile to watch.

I agree with dusty! My favorite series re watching for the third time.
