Big time It hurts SSSOOO bad...We had a very special jack russell she was one of our children I admit it,She was soo special.She was after a skunk for about a month now.She got sprayed a couple of times this month.Every chance she got she ran off.We have 40 acres so we knew she was here.Tuesday morning she followed hubby out to the office.He left the door open a minute.They left.About 3 in the afternoon the one year came home.I could smell a little skunk smell. The older one didnt come back.I think shes in a hole somewhere and cant come home.It kills me to think shes in a hole and cold,hungry cant come home.Its killing me,I need that dog.We had neighbors here yesterday to help look for her,we yelled down every hole we could find,nothing...

so sorry your fur kid is missing...have you called the spca/pound in case they might have picked her up?? it might be worth while to also check with the local papers...

lets hope she didn't lose her collar!

I understand completely how much you are hurting. This is one of your children as much as if you had given birth to her. I am sending all my good thoughts that you wil find her safe and sound.

Boopster, I'm so so sorry. I was hoping he would be ok. I'll be praying for you. I know it is so hard on you right now. I lost my collie of 10 years in 2005. I got her when I was only 7 and we grew up together. I was her favorite person and she was my favorite dog. I use to carry her to my grandparents house and she would stay right with me and not run off. It killed me when she left this earth. I loved her so much. She had a tumor the size of a huge cantelope on her stomach and it ruptured. I miss her everyday... there will never be another one like her and there will also never be another one like your special 'BOB.' I'm so so sorry. GennyM.... You may have already read this or have it, but after my collie 'Monzaya' died I printed this out and kept it. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. Elderly cats do get kidney disease plus heart congestion, our 17 year old cat did and we gave medication, special foods and he hated it and was so thin. Talk about hard, I phoned and got an appointment and told my mom I did and started sobbing and she told me to cancel it. I did puzzled why? She said if its too hard, we won't do it. I said no, its time and I phoned back and my dad and I sobbed all the way there to the vet and then we had to wait while this lady had 4 cats to get checked and then it was our turn and the room they took us in was the same as they check the cats and there was others behind us and so it was a rushed goodbye and I didn't like that at all. We all sobbed and cried, he was my precious, I can still see him coming down the hallway upstairs in my parents place and him yelling his head off and I would say he needs his four hugs a day as he demanded them daily. He was my beloved and I miss him still alot and its been 6 years since we said goodbye. Its a huge gap in our lives when we lose our beloved pets, doesn't matter how little or how long they are with us, that bond is so deep and so strong. I agree that you must be very careful whom you allow in to your child's life be it a man or a woman. And to the original poster.. Definately tell the daughter about the new baby. And send her a b-day gift. I know it can be very hard at times to give and get nothing in return, but figure it this way. If you continue to give her gifts and offer to include her in your life, then the bio-Mom will have no excuses later in life when the child realizes that her lack of relationship with her father stemmed from the resentment her own mother had towards him.. As for people saying "I hate my step-child" It most definately can be said in the heat of the moment! When feelings are left unresolved and you feel unsupported at home, when finally getting the chance to openly vent of course your heated! This board is for that purpose! There are moments in everybody's lives when they may hate themselves let alone those around them. As I said before if you read those post most of them don't focus on hating the child themselves, but on behaviors the child exhibits that are not being corrected by the parents. If posting in here allows them the venting they need and keeps them from blowing up at the child, why shouldn't they? This is the STEPFAMILY Forum and is for all of the feelings that we may have as STEPFAMILIES! This is not a place to jump on someone for saying something you deem to be inappropriate! I am not saying we can't all offer our advice to these people, but there is a tactful way to do that. The majority of the people on here are helpful and insightful, I have gotten valuable info from both sides here. Unfortunately there are the few on here who make it their goal to attack ANY Step-parent who post. It saddens me to see some stuck so far in their own denial and bitterness that they feel the need to downgrade others constantly. Nobody is perfect! No family is perfect! We as a group need to realize that all of these situations are different! I am here to help as much as I can and be helped by other people who are trying to make the best of a difficult situation.

Thank you Colleenoz i have a savings account for them to have when their if age. I just didn't know what to do, whether to send a gift or do as you said. As you can see by the other comments people say do different things. I just want to do the right thing for my a Grand daughters!! im not poking the bear as you say. Iv not made any contact with them since they said I can't see the Girls. I thought it best to leave them alone i have to somehow try to stop thinking about what my Grand daughters are thinking, every single Grand parent they have has either died ( my mum Dad & both my Grand mothers witching the last few yrs) my Daughter Father & his parents see them once every 3 yrs. My son in law Mum has also been banned, so they poor little things don't know what I earth is going on. It breaks my heart thinking about what they must be going through. As I have seen the older Grand daughter (. 9yrsvold) cry her heart out for her dead grand parents. We were all do close & saw the Girls on a very regular basis. I just want to do what's best !

OMG, this is terrible. I'm praying that she'll show up in a short while andbe just fine.

Do you think you could let the 1 yr old out and follow her on the chance she'll lead you to the missing dog?

Oh I know how it hurts. I had a cat that used to get out a lot, somebody poisoned her but she managed to crawl home to die. Plesase don't give up. Keep looking for your fur baby.

I feel for you. We've had to walk the property looking for an adventurous dog more than once. One time we found him tangled up. If your dog is in a hole, as you think, she's probably making some noise. Or will if she hears your voices. I urge you to go over as much of your property as you can. Best of luck!

our one year old is no help she just went along ,she probably didnt know how to get there.We serched every inch of forty acres and then some.
One last time I went to where I thought she was and tried to dig myself too many boulders..All we do is cry,We cant talk about her without crying,I keep going to the door to see if shes there.she was a special dog.

Do you think there are any organizations like pet rescues that can help you look over and over again?? Don't give up. IS it safe to go out at night for a while with a flashlight and listen. Things are quieter at night. I wish I lived close. I would help. Call anyone you can think of.

Don't give up. Dogs are wonderful animals at solving problems. Hopefully you will have good news soon. In the meantime my thoughts are with you all. We have a dog that is the love of our lives, too.

I'm so sorry. I know the pain you are going through. I'm sending you my prayers and positive thoughts.

Please take Clare's advice and post your info on Findtoto. It automatically contacts via phone call those in your nieghborhood and surrounding area. Not sure how it's done. I received a call one day about a missing pet that was found in the neighborhood and while out on a walk few day prior I had noticed a flyer for a missing pet. I contacted both parties and it was indeed the missing pet.

My baby didnt come home .She left Tuesday Its saturday.Im beside myself Im getting sick.I cant eat ,I cant sleep..I feel like Im gonna vomit,I lost 10Lbs this week,noy good.I keep thinking I hear her crying,barking I run look out door no mickey.Its eating mr alive.....

I really don't want to ba an alarmist, BUT...

Your dog could have been blinded. Skunks aim for the eyes and if they make a hit, it can damage vision. Its just the nature of the beasts.

If your dog was blinded temporarily or permanent, think about how he might behave, and then begin your search. It would have best if you could have called in a tracker hound before his trail got too old. The tracker might have found him or at least shown the direction your dog took.

If your dog got a snoot full of skunk spray, he may have shot off into the wilderness on a random directional run looking for some way to rid himself of this really bad scent, and then, he could not "sniff" his way back home if he went beyond the boundaries of landmarks and scent marks known to him.

In your search, remember that dogs do not see in color, mostly shades of gray and most dogs are naturally nearsighted. If your dogs does sight you at a distance, you will appear to him as a blob until you get nearer to him and then he can recoginze you, not only by sight, but by other senses as well. Your voice may be the best tool that you have in locating him.

Hopefully, he was wearing a color with and ID tag.
