Boopster, I'm so so sorry. I was hoping he would be ok. I'll be praying for you. I know it is so hard on you right now. I lost my collie of 10 years in 2005. I got her when I was only 7 and we grew up together. I was her favorite person and she was my favorite dog. I use to carry her to my grandparents house and she would stay right with me and not run off. It killed me when she left this earth. I loved her so much. She had a tumor the size of a huge cantelope on her stomach and it ruptured. I miss her everyday... there will never be another one like her and there will also never be another one like your special 'BOB.' I'm so so sorry. GennyM....

You may have already read this or have it, but after my collie 'Monzaya' died I printed this out and kept it.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

boopster... I am so sorry to hear that Bob passed away. He had a great life with you. I know he meant the world to you.

I lost my beloved "soul dog" 2 years ago from cancer. She has a huge tumor on her back and we had it removed but it was too late. I believe that hers metastized to her brain also because she had seizures. It was so strange for a while not having her following me around. I got her when I was 8yo and she helped me the toughest years of my life.

You & Bob will meet again. *hugs*

Oh Boop, I'm so very sorry!! I really hoped Bob would pull through and fight the odds. I'm glad he didn't suffer too long and that you were able to help him over the bridge.
Thanks for letting us know. I know you didn't have to. You're right about having support from complete strangers. It's nice to know that some folks support you without really knowing you. Humanity survives and keeps it chin up. Strangers really do choose to help strangers.

Boopster, I feel so sad knowing you have lost Bob. Sorry that I didn't post sooner, but I have been tied up for few days and just read your post now. I can imagine how devastated you must be feeling, but take comfort in knowing that you gave Bob the best quality of life possible in his last months. He had some very happy extra days because of your special care of him and in time I think that knowing that will help. You won't have to wonder if there was more you could have done.

i'm so sorry to hear of bob's passing. we truly do find such support from each other here. some day, and i hope it is soon, you will think only of the happy times with your guy.

I too am so very sorry for your loss. You both together put up an amazing fight, take peace and comfort in knowing you did all you could. Sending some prayers your way.

Thank you all for your kind words, you all are the greatest. I know you all love dogs as much as I do, so you know the pain and loss I feel. I'm actually doing a lot better than I had ever imagined. I was positive that I would have a breakdown, as I don't handle stuff like this very well at all, could be the Zanax too :) I guess having had the last few months to deal with this it took a 'bit' of the bite/sting out of it. That and the people at the clinic, My God, they were the best. Bob was somewhat of a star there :) that's ma' boy LOL, anyway I had gone up to the counter to take care of the 'stuff' and when I got back to the room, it was filled with techs. docs, staff, all hugging and kissing my boy (I'm crying as I write this, big sap that I am) they were all telling him good bye, and to say hi to all their lost loved ones:) Then when they left, his oncologist asked me if I wanted to be alone with him..I hesitated, and she said you want me to stay? I said yes, and we both talked and petted him and cried. I've put a number of dogs to sleep in my time, it's never easy, and with Bob I thought it would be unbearable...but she made it soooo much easier...I can never thank her enough. Anyway, he didn't suffer, and we had a great last few months together, plus he had a great life with 2 people who loved him more than anything. I will surly miss him though, and I will never forget him. Ok, gotta go hug Mikey now, thanks all, love you:)
