I have a small hammer in mine along with various screws, picture hanging devices, all the cords for the various electric cooking pots, hair cutting scissors and fine toothed comb, felt backing to put on the feet of the chairs, pair of pliers, a tiny screw driver, a phillips, and 2 larger ones. Lots of other junk too. Yours is so neat and tidy for a junk drawer.

LOL! I can remember when we went through the model of the house we're in -- and when we got to the kitchen I said to my hubby, "and this would be the junk drawer."

Ours contains two pair of scissors (one very similar to yours), packing tape, Scotch brand Magic tape, some of those things you put down the garbage disposal to make it smell like lemon, and a lot of user manuals for various small kitchen appliances.

I basically have two...and both of them have ridiculous amounts of crap in them.

Sorry, but I do not have a junk drawer. Never have.

Never saw the point of giving up a valuable kitchen drawer to throw junk into....

I could use 2 junk drawers! LOL

2 tape measures, box cutter knives, masking tape, a box of green twist-ties, container of elastic bands, pens, notepads for shopping lists, small funnel, small jar of screws and nails. That's all I can think of as I'm not in the kitchen.

I just opened mine . . . and closed it quickly. You're brave, OldFixer! LOL

Geez, you had to ask. I only have 4 drawers in my kitchen and the biggest one is the junk drawer. My has my address book, restaurant menus, 3 pair of scissors, markers, a Brie container that holds rubber bands, cough drops, flashlight, a pack of Extra gum, random cigarette lighters, a set of artist brushes (for touching up), my cell phone, cell phone charger, a box of 3 golf balls and a bunch of other stuff I don't need, but somehow it's all comforting. :-)

I have more than one - 3 to be exact, and I need every one of them! They are all organized and no 'junk', but all items I use often. One holds several pairs of reading and sun glasses, another holds the address book and kids' school pencils, another holds cell phone cords, no-longer-used cell phones - the list goes on.

Am I the only one that reuses their toothbrushes, cleaned, of course!

I use mine for scrubbing hard to get to places, amongst other uses.

I use the old toothbrush, too, Glenda. Always have a couple lying around. They are so good for so many things.

No Glenda, you're not the only one who keeps used toothbrushes for cleanups, but mine are under the sink (kitchen and bathrooms), not in my 'drawer'.

I have two drawers. One in the kitchen that really isn't terrible, or at least I wouldn't be horrified if someone opened it looking for something. I have a second that is an organizers nightmare in the laundry, immediately next to the kitchen, and that one I would hate to even describe to you. Even I'm not sure what all is in it and I don't really check until it will no longer close easily and I have to sort it out. Neither of those even hold my owners manuals for things, those have their very own drawer, again, in the laundry room. Do I really need the manual for my vacuum? No, I don't think my vacuum could give me any surprises. Same with my bedside alarm. But as long as I have the 'gadget', faucet, TV or appliance, for some reason I have the book/booklet.

whereever I sit I like things handy hence a junk drawer. I tried once to gather al like things and put them in a certain place.. that only lasted a little while

Glenda, no you are not the only one who uses used toothbrushes. My hubby has a plastic bag full in the barn, he says they are great to clean the chain saws & other equipment

I have some in both bathrooms & the kitchen.

My junk drawer has everything misc in it. Like my Mom use to say "there is everything in there from soup to nuts".

Glenda - if you're going to scrub with a toothbrush, why clean it first? Got em' in the kitchen, bathroom, basement & garage. Behind bathroon sink faucets does not have a lot of room. So I cut down a toothbrush to make it narrow and fit that space. Works great to scrub that difficult spot.
morz8 - I keep manuals too, hidden in a (bigger) drawer. They have piled up for 30 years, knowing I don't use them, or don't even have the item any more. Once, I referenced the booklet for my kitchen faucet, lifetime warranty. Contacted the company, and got a complete repair kit, free.

have one in the kitchen and it doesn't really have junk but lots of necessities that I use but it does not really stay neat as too many people get in it looking for something. I use my desk in the living room for phone directories and the basement for tools. And that's another story. We tell the grandchildren not to go down there as we may not find them. But they love to go down there looking for treasures.(0ld beer cans,tools,toys,etc)

I have one junk drawer that's much like fixer's...filled with lots of tape, assorted small tools, measuring tapes, glues, box cutter, tea lights, wooden matches, grill lighters, small flash lights, kitchen twine, manuals, menus, and more.

I also have what I call my kitchen junk, junk drawer, lol. Bamboo and metal skewers, food thermometers, rosette irons, nut cracker and picks, cookie and biscuit cutters, cookie molds, oyster knives, appetizer spreader knives and forks, toothpicks, bottle opener and corkscrews, meat injector and who knows what else!

Really, there's not much that I would throw away or even want to store someplace else.

I have a drawer in the laundry room that has screwdrivers, batteries, a hammer, a dust cloth and picture hanging hardware and one in the built-in kitchen desk that has scissors, secateurs, measuring tape, emery board, box cutter, ruler, glue, cellophane tape, envelopes, paper clips, etc., all organized in an insert with compartments. I have no problem keeping them clutter-free.

On the other hand, my make-up drawer is a disaster. I really need to dump it out and organize it.

Mary - 'but it does not really stay neat as too many people get in it looking for something.' Good point, it's a popular spot for stuff you need. But some tools are handy, rather than tromping to the basement.
rhizo - how true. This was referring to the basic 'holds all' junk drawer. I too have the 'kitchen junk' which requires it's own drawer with the stuff you mentioned. Let's not talk about under the cabinets where people hide all those other appliances.

I have exactly ONE drawer in this whole apartment, not counting the dresser in the bedroom and two of those plastic drawer things.

So, our junk drawer is in one of those, but I wouldn't exactly call it a "junk" drawer. I don't just toss stuff in that I don't know what else to do with. It's got pens and scissors and tape and string and thumb tacks and tape measures...stuff like that.

Oh, YESSS! The one in the kitchen has an old silverware holder in it -- to keep the little stuff separate? (I think that just takes up space, but nevermind.) I have most of what y'all have -- the picture wire, some screws, a hammer, tape, a ball of twine, assorted large twist-ties, glue, birthday cake candles, rubber bands, a nutcracker and one pick, at least six screwdrivers, a pair of pliers, a 12' tape measure -- and all those 'bits' you sometimes find around the house that you are saving for when you figure out what they belong to. In the laundry room is another drawer with flashlights, batteries, chair 'feet', keys to things we no longer own, etc.

Pliers, various types of glue & tape, a lighter, screwdrivers, a tape measure & a knife sharpening kit.

Our kitchen 'catchall' drawer holds a large assortment of pens, pencils and marking pens (many of which probably no longer work) scrap paper for writing quick notes, two letter openers, rubber bands, bag clips and an assortment of chewing gum fill up the front third of the drawer. Then there is an assortment of screw drivers, pliers, measuring tapes, a hammer and an assortment of picture hanging stuff. In the back a ball of twine, matches, a stud finder, packaging tape, scotch tape and 3 kinds of glue.

In a back corner in an International Coffee tin is something that I'll bet no one else has in their drawer.That tin holds a 3 inch long rattle snake rattle and a fossilized beaver tooth.

Only One Fixer??? My entire kitchen desk is a mass of FOUR kitchen junk drawers...I threw stuff in it when we moved in here 8 years ago and so far only one has been organized...I Promise I'll take pictures today...it makes yours look like its been organized by Martha Stewart!! ha ha

oh yes I have a few! One in the kitchen well actually one and a half, one of the other drawers has started getting it's own collection of things in one end.

Then we have a small table between our 2 recliners with a rather small drawer which is stuffed with stuff that we need and it is easy to reach from our chairs like scissors, pens, the direct tv channel lists, finger nail clippers and files, twist ties, various items like that oh and the little microfiber thing we clean our tablets with.
We have one in the bathroom for the misc bathroom items like scissors, new toothbrushes, flossers, bandages, baby aspirin, etc.
In my office one of my drawers has a collection of office related stuff like scissors, clips, staples, tapes, batteries, pens, flash drives and memory cards, etc.

I have a lot of scissors lol, but I don't want to have to go on the search for scissors. I must have 4-5 pair of various types of kitchen scissors in the kitchen, we bought a big package of them at Costco.
Yep I guess we have long outgrown just one junk drawer, not that anything in them is actually junk of course. I bought a nice pink craftsman tool tote that contains all manner of my tools and fixit stuff. It has a place in my office. Of course my husband is always borrowing my tools and not returning them to my tool tote then next time he wants it he can't find it because he forgot where he left it when he failed to return it to the tote. So I find my tools in all sorts of places. It does not help that I bought pink tools and flowered tape measure and cutters etc. he does not care. Now he has his own massive collection of tools which are also scattered about willy nilly and in his tool box in the garage but that is much farther than my pink tool tote!
Can you guess this is a subject of much um discussion in our house? LOL

A number of the things that many of you have mentioned inhabits my drawer(s), as well ... but in terms of my being more specific ... my age-related short-term memory leaves something to be desired.

Raven ... how about getting long elastics and attaching one end of each to the tote and the other to each tool ...

... so that when hubby's finished with one, it can drag itself back home?

On the other hand ... you could cut a shirt-pocket sized chunk out of a cereal box, staple some pieces of scrap paper to it, along with a pencil on one of those elastics and give it to hubs for Christmas ... so that he could write down where he leaves each tool that he absconds with, with the location, so that he can check easily where to find it when the next occasion of need appears?
