This year I am giving some Christmas stockings. A few are for adults, teens & children. Do you have any great ideas you can add?

Oh, I'm doing much better than those--LOL! Your list looks extravagant to me this year!

I'm making patchwork checkers, backgammon and tic tac toe boards from my leftover fabric scraps.

For the teens, I made scarves (from my bin of leftover yarn).

I'll be filling in with some home-baked bread, homemade jellies and candy.

So far, I've spent exactly 3.98 and I already have about 8 gifts put together.

Everybody is getting cookies and baked stuff from me. I'm out of work, and have food stamps, but no money.

In response to the accountant remark, its not the IRS, its the state and not an income tax audit. I have paid a CPA $11k to do a forensic audit on me and according to them the state owes me $4k. This state is going after anything they can get so they won't have a shortfall. They hired 49 new auditors for this. It was a sales tax audit. I was told 20 years ago not to tax on vehicles by the DMV because I an not a dealer. They were wrong. I have to pay the sales tax on all the cars I have sold through my business. I have 11 people I know going through the same thing. The reason it has taken 3 years is they kept asking for extensions because they are short handed. So thanks but no thanks for your smart a$s comments, you have no clue what you are talking about.

I assume that since it's couples there's no kids involved unless you're from the south somewhere! ;) And if you know the Springer 800 number I *don't* want to know about it! For a generic gift often something like a bottle of wine, a jug of booze, gift cards or the like are good. Basket of good chocolates with some cheese, crackers, sausage type things are usually good. For gift cards I really encourage using the prepaid credit cards rather than a specific place card. That way if they need gas, would like to go out, need groceries, would like to rent movies or even if they want to put it toward a new TV, it'll usually work rather than having to make a point of going to a particular place and spend that amount. The other thing could be a gift certificate for Amazon, Netflix or something. Gifts are so unique to the person the only real generic ones are going to be cash, food or booze. Hopefully they're not too picky. Unless you're doing a key exchange! ;)

I was thinking we should start a thread with gift ideas. One thing my kids love are Playhut popup tents. We have a fire truck that gets used all of the time. We also have a Star Wars one that's a game where you throw balls in the pckets. I bought a school bus this year. Many are under $30 and the best thing is that they fold up flat and can be stored behind a couch or under a bed when they're not using them. Anyone with space issues would appreciate this. They just pop right back up when the kids want to play with them again. Bright and Fun Toys.com has a large selection with free shipping but they are sold everywhere. I bought the bus off of ebay since I wanted the one that matches our firetruck and they changed the style and don't make that one anymore.

This thread has been so helpful, thanks all! It led me to look for a dollhouse for my great-niece. In a strange turn of events, though, I found two houses that *I* want … as in, to actually live in. The first house I found has a working elevator, party patio, hot tub, potting shed, and third story telescope room. Party patio with lights: Built-in potting shed … heaven: Hot tub … I’ll get different towels: Thank goodness she checked with Design Dilemma first and didn’t make the fatal decision to put a mirror over the mantel: It really works? Look at that tile! The one above will be my city home. Here’s my country home: Get away from my house, kid! BUILT-IN STABLES HELLO … This stove is nicer than mine: Anyway, thanks to this thread, I will be moving into my dream homes after Christmas. I also found this for her, but again, might keep it for myself: (They have other animals, too.)

We had to run to Kmart today to get Yo Yo's...lol
So add Yo Yo's for kids. My boys are 11 and 8..and they were chomping at the bit for them..They even bought them with their report card money. $2.99 for Duncans.

Oh and Bakugans (little marble creatures) $4.97 at Walmart each. My boys love gum and tic tacs.

We like gag gifts, red neck gifts, dirty gifts, etc.

*Road Kill and crackers- tuna with a special label
*RC Cola and a moon pie
*Special 12 Days of Christmas with substitutions for everything in the pear tree.
*Special Christmas Underwear
