life is interesting...

in my family!

Yikes!

I am going back to Iowa. Will move my daughter back to Oklahoma.

Things are just not working out with her "boyfriend". Today at work she found out, she doesn't have to do a two weeks notice... but will still get a nice recommendation.

Thus, I am driving up there tomorrow morning in our van, instead of going for a nice bike ride.

Wednesday I will help pack her stuff in to a U-Haul trailer, instead of a nice lunch with friends from out of town that are coming through here in Edmond.

Thursday I will drive from Iowa City to Edmond Oklahoma instead of going to friends for Thanksgiving...

Then we get to go apartment hunting, and moving her stuff again... this time out of my garage, and hopefully she can find a job.

Yikes, it just never ends.

Moni, it doesn't stop when the labor pains stop, does it?

I'm guessing you're looking for an herb or spice ? I'm gonna go a little different avenue. Nothing exciting in my method, but does make for delicious veggies. Do you have a grill ? I use my gas grill as much as my stove and oven. Year round. I grill a lot of veggies. It adds a nice flavor to them. Simply prep veggies larger so they don't fall thru the grates. Some veggies I prefer to be a little charred. Yum. Broccoli and cauliflower : slice stalks into larger pieces with short stalks (not florets). Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper, seasoning of your choice and grill. Squash/zucchini : same way...slice into larger pieces...olive oil and seasoning of your choice. Corn on the cob : if in the husk I soak in cool water adding a little sugar to water. I soak cobs for at least 20 minutes up to 12 hours if time allows. Simply put soaked ears on grill grate. The reason for soaking in water is to keep husks from catching fire so easily....plus the extra moisture in husk keeps corn moist and juicy during grilling process. As for veggies that are smaller (peas, sliced carrots, beans, etc ) simply put them in foil pouches. I add veggies, olive oil and seasoning to foil pouches. I take heavy duty foil. Tear off large sheet. Place veggies in middle of foil sheet. Bring up ends/edges of sheet. Fold over two or three times, crease ends. Then I use a toothpick to pierce holes in foil pack on top and bottom. I usually add 2-3 holes to top and bottom of pouch. The foil pouch seals in flavor and steams veggies to perfection. I usually only flip over foil pouch once or twice during grilling process. I usually only flip veggies in foil or not in foil once or twice. This helps keep the integrity of veggies whole. If you have a fish basket to use on the grill, they work well for veggies also. You can also use skewers on the grill. I'm not a fan of this style simply cause there's more "work" to them. Cutting veggies right size...then keeping them on skewer during grilling process. The possibilities are endless. Enjoy Tammy

Thanks for input. Removing backsplash not an option & of course decisions are easier when replacing all! But, sounds like your idea is to tie new counter in to backsplash color. The backsplash & granite do look more color complementary to each other when seen in person! The granite background isn’t as white as appears & is warmer. It’s Santa Cecilia granite but the lightest example we’ve ever seen of it.

My DD's I swear think 1-800-MOM! LOL Thats good though cause we'd be hurt if they didn't call us right?

never a dull moment. Been there, done that w/ my son. I feel sometimes like I go around picking up the pieces w/ my children. You do what you have to do. It's what good parents do. Y'all be careful.

I would hate to think of how many time we moved our 3 kids when they were in college. So far they have stayed put since getting married. Somehow, they always need ole Mom and Dad.. I know moving is not fun but sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and do it.. Enjoy the time with your daughter and stay safe in your travels going and coming.. We just always know they can depeend on us..

We just want them to be happy don't we and the Mothering instinct never goes away. I did the same thing with my daughter. I moved or helped move her so many times. I can't tell you haw many times I paid the retainer for a divorce lawyer...Finally I told her...This is it...No more...if you go back to him...I'm not opening my checkbook ever again ....she didn't go back.

I wish you a safe, reasonably happy trip, Moni.

Have a good time with your daughter ... don't have a row ... don't strain any muscles (except the tongue one).

Sometimes the difficult times are also ones that we cherish, later.

Remember the cautionary memo given to tourists ... "Take money!".

As for your title, "life is interesting" ...

... aint ... it ... just??

Oh Moni, your not alone. I've helped my youngest out a lot of times. Almost to the point where I've put myself in a bind sometimes. She asked today for a loan for her electric bill. I just honestly told her I didn't have it. I know she hated to ask.

Did she consider staying in Iowa City and just not staying with the boyfriend? Iowa City is a nice place to live...she should give it a try on her own.
