Not cooking for Thanksgiving, but going out.

Have reservations at Wynfrey Hotel Thanksgiving buffet. They have downscaled from the fancy smancy they used to have, but t'will be good.

Another one going out. Just the two of us. May be joined by another couple we know.

Too much chaos with work to host family or go to others homes.

When we visited with DH's brother in CA we ate out several years ago. Really nice as they served it family style. We got to take home the left overs which worked out good.
This year I plan to go to GD's

I bought a Toto Eco Flush CST784EF for our master bathroom and it is terrible. You need to have a toilet brush scrubber by you each time you use the bathroom because there is not enough water or pressure to clean the toilet. And, it was $600. The biggest waste of money I ever spent. Go with American Standard. We bought one of those for our powder room and it is amazing for 2/3 rds of the cost.

Check the colors against your furniture and such. If you are starting with the walls first then I suggest you do like I did. After painting my 25"walls by myself, yeah really scary up there, I did the following: We purchased a rug that had all our favorite colors and put it in our family room as the anchor. I went to store and picked one of those pallet cards that gives a group of colors that go together. Mine are the Biltmore Estate colors. All my favorites are there with even a few I would never have thought of. And it turns out all the colors in the pallet are actually in the rug we got. It took a few months before we realized that there were colonial blue areas in the rug that actually matched the blue we used in one room. I used the neutral tan for my entry and stairwell, used a lighter version of the tan for my kitchen, family and hallways. I used the red in my livingroom, hunter green in dining and the blue in my upstairs bonus room. I just did my guest bath using the same blue in the rug andthe bonus room and it is actually my unexpected color in the house. It matches all the other colors but you would never really think to see it. But together they all match really well. I carry my colors in my purse and use them all the time when I am out and about and tempted to get something for the house. So pick that tan and find a pallet that goes with it, it really helped me a lot.

I recently got new low pile Shaw wall to wall carpeting and treated myself to a new Shark Apex Vacuum, I love it❣️I did a thorough research of upright vacuums. I am known as the “Research Queen”. It has a self cleaning brush roll, a 12” path, also has switches for high pile, low pile and floors. It cleans my flooring beautifully. It is quite powerful.

Depends on the salmon and the recipe. I usually check anyway, and wil pick out bigger stuff. If I'm planning on making something fine like an eggy bit or a paste I'll get the better cleaned canned stuff and still check. Only thing I don't check is the prepared packet salmon. With all tinned stuff, if there's bones, those get tossed into the compost bucket. Skin is tossed out back for the wildlife. Right now that means two feral cats. I get the flat cans of kippers/herring and sauced fish too. I check them a bit for bones. Skin again often goes out back. I've occasionally gotten a bit of, well, gristle/fin. Anyway, not great eats so it's good to check. That goes into compost pile. There's a brand that does salmon fillet in sauce in the tin. I like to use the sauce as a vinagrette and the fish on/in the salad. Rice, quinoa, lentils, or greens are all good salads. I rarely get them because they are pricey, even on sale. Sardines I've done whole mashed up out of the can, anchovies too. I wish I could find sardine paste around here like I can find anchovy paste. Often I want a goodly dab or few rather than a whole can.

The actual day of Thanksgiving we will be driving to Oklahoma so on that day no I am not cooking and have no idea what I will eat probably a sandwich along the way. But we are having our big Thanksgiving meal on Saturday when everyone will be there and for that one yes I am the one cooking it.

Six of us will be going out to Claim Jumper as we have for the last 3 years. Then we will be going to my aunt's for her famous pumpkin pie.

We are on vacation for that week up in Atlanta, meeting up w family coming down from Chicago & Indy. Thanksgiving Day we will be at the GA Aquarium (my FAV place along w my 8 yr old niece) and dinner will be at our fav restaurant, South City Kitchen! We did this meet up a few years ago, did GA Aq that day and dinner at Ruth Chris. I thought it was ok but my DH, sis and BIL hated it! it was $100 a plate even for the kids (they were 5 yrs old) and they thought it was way over priced for what was regular food like mashed potatoes, gravy, bread, turkey and stuffing. Back then we could find very few nice restaurants serving evening dinner on Thanksgiving Day so I was just happy to find one LOL. ~ liz

We will be on a week vaca up the California coast~~eating out a resort restaurant in Pismo Beach;)

Several years with our kids (just the 4 of us, seemed silly to cook) we went to a movie, then across the street to a buffet dinner, then back to see another movie. It was great, the kids loved t!

Looks like you're not the only one. But cooking a T-Day feast isn't much different than cooking a meal any other day. And, expecting leftovers is a welcome treat for the next 2-3 days! A local restaurant offered free meals for 20 years, but quit several years ago. For anyone in need, there are churches and the Salvation Army providing wonderful meals. Also offered are the 'heat n eat' pre-prepared meals, ranging in price from $70-$150, which serve 8-10 people. Whatever your option, have a wonderful day.

I am going to DB's house and I only have to cook a peanut butter pie, dressing & pumpkin bread....so it's not like I am cooking a major meal.

Glenda, I'm sorry that your son is going through the divorce. A very sad time for your grand son, too.

With the way my neck and arm are feeling, we may have to cancel our neighborhood feast. If so, we'll eat out, too. I'm giving myself until Saturday to decide.

Changed our family tradition 5 years ago. Had an unexpected tragedy week before thanksgiving and no one really wanted to cook. We decided that our entire family would book one of the restaurants rooms for the day. It has now become our family tradition to meet at the same restaurant for the afternoon. This is a small family restaurant and it works perfect for our family.

I really don't know what we'll do for thanksgiving. The bf has to work until 2, and I can't eat carbs. What's a thanksgiving feast without the mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, rolls and pie? It's just turkey and salad. That's what it is.

I'm with Mary3444, even if it is just me, I celebrate my own Thanksgiving. Heck, I usually cook an additional turkey to the one served at my family's homes.

Granddaughter #1 is having us all over.

On Sunday we're doing our own Thanksgiving with three other friends. Mostly cuz I want some left over turkey to make soup. Will be making dessert to take along.

We tried the vacation Thanksgiving week a few yrs ago, totally NOT me I want my regular holiday LOL but it turned out it was a nice change. I am doing a regular Thanksgiving meal on this Sunday (started the turkey brining yesterday), I HAVE to have that but my sis will not drive down to Orlando when the kids are only off for Wed-Fri so I can accomodate the change every once in awhile to have time with them. Cooking a huge meal like that is part of the fun for me and tradition also. I do want to do a Thanksgiving cruise some yr too! ~ liz
