Too much chaos with work to host family or go to others homes.

When we visited with DH's brother in CA we ate out several years ago. Really nice as they served it family style. We got to take home the left overs which worked out good.
This year I plan to go to GD's

Plan to go out to eat with a couple of friends....Moody Gardens in Galveston.

The actual day of Thanksgiving we will be driving to Oklahoma so on that day no I am not cooking and have no idea what I will eat probably a sandwich along the way. But we are having our big Thanksgiving meal on Saturday when everyone will be there and for that one yes I am the one cooking it.

Six of us will be going out to Claim Jumper as we have for the last 3 years. Then we will be going to my aunt's for her famous pumpkin pie.

With just the 2 of us now, we usually go out....

We are on vacation for that week up in Atlanta, meeting up w family coming down from Chicago & Indy. Thanksgiving Day we will be at the GA Aquarium (my FAV place along w my 8 yr old niece) and dinner will be at our fav restaurant, South City Kitchen! We did this meet up a few years ago, did GA Aq that day and dinner at Ruth Chris. I thought it was ok but my DH, sis and BIL hated it! it was $100 a plate even for the kids (they were 5 yrs old) and they thought it was way over priced for what was regular food like mashed potatoes, gravy, bread, turkey and stuffing. Back then we could find very few nice restaurants serving evening dinner on Thanksgiving Day so I was just happy to find one LOL. ~ liz

We will be on a week vaca up the California coast~~eating out a resort restaurant in Pismo Beach;)

Several years with our kids (just the 4 of us, seemed silly to cook) we went to a movie, then across the street to a buffet dinner, then back to see another movie. It was great, the kids loved t!

Looks like you're not the only one. But cooking a T-Day feast isn't much different than cooking a meal any other day. And, expecting leftovers is a welcome treat for the next 2-3 days! A local restaurant offered free meals for 20 years, but quit several years ago. For anyone in need, there are churches and the Salvation Army providing wonderful meals. Also offered are the 'heat n eat' pre-prepared meals, ranging in price from $70-$150, which serve 8-10 people. Whatever your option, have a wonderful day.

We have never gone out to eat like that on any holiday, always a family get together.

I am going to DB's house and I only have to cook a peanut butter pie, dressing & pumpkin bread....so it's not like I am cooking a major meal.

With the way my neck and arm are feeling, we may have to cancel our neighborhood feast. If so, we'll eat out, too. I'm giving myself until Saturday to decide.

Changed our family tradition 5 years ago. Had an unexpected tragedy week before thanksgiving and no one really wanted to cook. We decided that our entire family would book one of the restaurants rooms for the day. It has now become our family tradition to meet at the same restaurant for the afternoon. This is a small family restaurant and it works perfect for our family.

I really don't know what we'll do for thanksgiving. The bf has to work until 2, and I can't eat carbs. What's a thanksgiving feast without the mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, rolls and pie? It's just turkey and salad. That's what it is.

I'm with Mary3444, even if it is just me, I celebrate my own Thanksgiving. Heck, I usually cook an additional turkey to the one served at my family's homes.

Granddaughter #1 is having us all over.

On Sunday we're doing our own Thanksgiving with three other friends. Mostly cuz I want some left over turkey to make soup. Will be making dessert to take along.

That is exactly why I make my own turkey, leftovers!

We tried the vacation Thanksgiving week a few yrs ago, totally NOT me I want my regular holiday LOL but it turned out it was a nice change. I am doing a regular Thanksgiving meal on this Sunday (started the turkey brining yesterday), I HAVE to have that but my sis will not drive down to Orlando when the kids are only off for Wed-Fri so I can accomodate the change every once in awhile to have time with them. Cooking a huge meal like that is part of the fun for me and tradition also. I do want to do a Thanksgiving cruise some yr too! ~ liz
