It's been pretty time consuming and I absolutely couldn't have done it without Jenni's help- she sent me some of the things I needed and couldn't find here, what a great friend! AND, she encouraged me when I needed it and gave me great ideas and even made a prototype at her house to make sure it was doable. WHAT a pal. Thanks, Jenni CA!

So the stuff arrived, a huge ball of crochet thread, fabric stiffener- a giant bottle that was ALMOST big enough, lol. I got straight to work and by the time I was half done with them, I had a system going that worked for me. So now I have 21 finished and 6 more to do. I even need to make a few more faeries as this years party is going to be bigger than I planned. Yikes.

The string balloons are a fun project, if anyone needs to know how to do it, just ask Jenni or me! lolol

Thanks Josh, guess I needed an extra shot of living things w/ some color, what w/ all this snow & white everywhere. I know the Sans as Moonshine, think is probabably same as Moonbeam, who knows, most of my Sans. are no ID. this ID is my guess. About the belated Moonshine thought for me, thanks, I had one a while back, lost it tho' I don't recall the circumstance. I DO recall that one had a dark green edge on light green leaves that was just spectacular. Well Toni, I started posting pix a while back, surprising you hadn't seen, since I've postd some at HP, some at C&S, Some at Sans & Some at Hoyas. I have an older computer so it's slow going, to upload to Photobucket & then from there to here. You post pix sometimes right? Here's a pretty special one; a hydro growing variegated Hoya kerrii. Cool plant, I've had it 2 yrs. no bloom yet, I've been unable to root cuttings. New growth on a Sans. Mason's Congo (aka Masoniana) A no ID Sans. that needed a home. I repotted from a tight pot (to another tight pot but new mix) & about 2 months later this pup appeared. New growth on a ZZ plant in Dec. They usually sprout new shoots in Sept. & Feb., & I was surprised to see the shoots now, don't know if they're early or late. Has anybody else growing ZZs had this experience? Let's see what else can I show ? Left or foreward most is a Euphorbia francoisii which has a caudex this shot doesn't show, on the right a Hoya diversifolia, gift from a another fellow GW Member & Hoya lover. After that another pair of Hoyas: Left is Hoya australis off cutting from another GW friend which came w/ the adjacent no ID Hoya pubicalyx. On the window sill 2 different Euph. milii, the rear most blooms yellow the front one is newer & of unknown bloom color. Another no ID Sans. w/ cylindrical but curved leaves, quite handsome to me Another, but tiny Sans, no ID. An acquisition from last year, Ficus elastica Burgundy, which I hope to repot in Spring w/Al's help (& hopefully some of his gritty mix). A handsome plant I wish to learn better care for. If you buy plants from overseas, you do need a import permit (which is easy to get) but the seller must provide a Phyto Certificate (which you will have to pay for as part of the sale.) The plants imported needs both permit and phytosanitary certificate. APHIS will still inspect the plant. The import permit should have a contact number for them to call you if need be. If the plant is infected with something rather innocuous, then you can go to APHIS and have the plant treated. However, if the plant is untreatable, the plant will be destroyed. Bacteria and of course visible virus needs to be eliminated. A plant with pests, it needs to be fumigated. Don't buy plants from nurseries overseas that are not certified. Even that, there still can be problems. Santa Barbara Orchids Estates is a respected orchid nursery. They have very knowledgeable people and quality plants. As for plants that do well in Florida, you do need to ask. Most of the plants at SBOE are more climatized for cooler, coastal California. If you are growing plant in Florida, go to local nurseries in your area where plants are accustomed to the heat and humidity of your area. If you are into species, Andy's Orchids has quite a number of esoteric species: but always ask what plants would do well for your growing conditions.

Thanks HOng, I havent fed the EE regularly as I should have, actually not at all. It is planted in half composted manure, and half household compost, topped off with sand. Thank you GG :) O if you could only smell that rose! You have to put it right up to your nose to get the scent, but its really nice. Then again, I think something is wrong with my sniffer, I have to get closer than most people it seems. So maybe to others the scent is stronger..o, does it matter? lol. It still has a great scent :)

dcarch - I also grow kohlrabi which, to me, taste nothing like a turnip or rutabaga. I think it is closer in taste to cabbage even though it has been called "German turnip". Actually it is in the cabbage family. Saw this on Wiki, "The taste and texture of kohlrabi are similar to those of a broccoli stem or cabbage heart, but milder and sweeter, with a higher ratio of flesh to skin. The young stem in particular can be as crisp and juicy as an apple, although much less sweet." It is also a very versatile veggie. (Say that fast 3 times! LOL) Clare

we made them all the time when I was a little girl. Before the times of fabric stiffner (which is a wonderful product! lol) We I remember the first time with Grandma, we used sugar water, then graduated to watered down white glue and then I think that the premixed wall paper paste worked the best! lol

I remember making the balloons in Vacation Bible School when I was helping with the juniors. We made baskets;don't remember now what we put in them.

Gosh, thanks for all the compliments and kind words, ladies! I've had a lot of fun making these faeries and their little houses, but along with all of you, I do hope they are appreciated.

Kathi, that is twill tape around the openings, hot glued in place and wrapped around the cut edge. I just happened to have about 7 spools of it in different bright colors.

Leslie, someone told me there are Christmas cactuses and there are Thanksgiving Cactuses- I seem to have a post-Halloween/Early Thanksgiving cactus! lol This is the one that our cats nearly destroyed a few years ago when they were kittens and wanted to play in it! lol

Janie, Stewie couldn't be much worse than these monsters! lol I had nightmares of popped balloons with gooshy string struck to furry cats. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

Kat? Kat who??? lol

Minnie- that would have been a great idea. I just finished one yesterday named Poinsetta. It's not a great photo, but you can see most of her here. I still haven't gotten any cards, can't find any I like.

Every year you make the nicest ornaments Flamingo. I'm quite sure your group looks forward to your latest creation. You should take pictures of some of the ornaments given to you. That would be fun to see.

Thanks! And as of about 6 AM today, they are all finished and hanging on the wall, all 25 of them! Phew, I'm glad they are done.

Now, if a few peeps don't show up for the party, I'll actually get to keep a few of them! lolol That could happen, too, because the party is pretty close to Christmas this year. Awww! I know it won't break my heart to keep some.
