Are You Busy Today?

It seems I am. I just finished baking 3 ten inch pies, two black raspberries and a cherry. I have a sweet potato casserole in the oven and I have more refrigerator yeast dough raising. I have another one in the refrigerator I made up yesterday. I will roll the dough out early in the morning and make the rolls and bake them. It should make 50 or more rolls. All the baking is to take to our church dinner tomorrow after our service. I have my special muffin pans that hold 24 each that I will put my rolls in. I have two of those. It was 24 degrees when I looked out at my thermometer this morning. Now the sun is out and it is warming up. It is pretty out. What are you all doing today and how is your weather?

It's beautiful and sunny here today, although cold. We're going to our step GD's wedding this afternoon. I have no idea what I'm going to wear, and should give that some thought, but I haven't yet!! I'm cooking shrimp gumbo for my oldest GD that's home from college this week end. Per her request. That's about it here!

Cold morning here, too. It was 40 when I got up at 8:30. You sure are busy today, but I think it makes you happy to cook for others. I know it does me.

It's football Saturday but FSU doesn't play until 3:30. We just had a small crisis because the TV wouldn't come on. No picture, no sound! On football Saturday :-( But our magical way of fixing things is unplug them for a while and, by golly, it worked! Whew--I didn't want a trip to Best Buy today!!

I've got chicken breasts and hamburger that I need to get divided up for the freezer with the food saver. Then I plan to bake a caramel toffee banana bread and the Tres Leches cake I posted the other day.

I was going to make beef stew but chili sounds so good on this cold day. Guess I'd better gear up 'cause it's going to be even colder tomorrow.

you helped me even without pics beth... RENT A FRIG!!!! What a great idea! Who woulda thunk! We have been debating since our big Christmas Eve party if we want an extra frig/freezer. We had food all over the place. Little frig in DH's shop, bev frig, small frig by the grill. Royal PIA! Renting a frig is a perfect solution for us since I don't need it often. Unless they're too expensive to rent, but have such a tiny house that' it would be hard to find the extra space for an extra permanent frig.

Our kitchen remodel has started, and how. I didn't realize the contractor wanted the kitchen cleared out yet since we're doing a small bump-out, and I thought they would work only on the dig out and framing; the whole week has been crazy. Dear, dear friends and daughter helped me clear out the kitchen and now I have to organize the two bedrooms where the temporary kitchen stuff resides. (Most is packed in boxes against the dining room wall.) Yesterday we went to SF to put a deposit down on a countertop, then one more time to the appliance store to nail down decisions. Everyone keeps telling me, aren't you excited?? Maybe later. Right now I'm exhausted. But the best part of the day was going to the Mountain Winery to see Ira Glass (from npr) who was hilarious, with a friend. Wonder of wonders, about halfway through the show after the sun had set, a white bird circled us three times before flying off. At first I thought it was a pigeon or dove who was out too late, then realized it was a white OWL!!!! I was so thrilled as I've never seen one in the wild. I love these posts, MS. It's fun to hear what other people do with their days, though I do feel rather guilty when I realize how much they get done in a day! Sue, your posts usually make me hungry. :) You have a lucky family.

Took Makayla to a mall that has a LLBean and got her a new bookbag. As we walking through the mall, some girl came up and tapped me on my shoulder. I turned and looked really funny. 'Like I am suppose to know you!' Come to find out her and went to high school/ cosmetology school together 35 years ago!!! I just cannot believe she knew who I was! Then I met with a Myspace friend at Starbucks. She is from Alabama and I know her daughter. Makayla and I then went to Toys R Us to look at what size bike she to get. We found one and I will pick it up after she goes home. Since it is for her birthday which is the end of September. Now, she is watching cartoons while I am on here and finishing up my homemade crab soup. Deb

It's windy outside, so normal for Nebraska just before the big chill. I'm taking another break at the kt. Just finished washing my dd's horse because she's at school and it's almost 80 today. His name is Jack and he's a cutie head. Such a nice boy because he's been at the trainers all summer up until the 5th when he came here. He wanted to roll ( I did NOT want him to) after his bath and I couldn't find a sturdy place to tie him up in this PITA wind. Tried one place but he was all worried and well, just being a horse. Finally put him in his stall, where I had to sweep up the horse pucks in case he rolled in there. I washed him near my garden shed, at the tie up so the ground was soggy and he was digging around, sloshing mud up. Couldn't leave him there either. Now I'm tired from our walk all over the farm but at least he's sparkly clean. Time to run to town for laundry soap and pick up the youngster from school. She owes me! :)

Not too busy here. A couple of our kids are coming in and I just put this in the oven..nice and easy and so good.

Dried Cranberry Coffee Cake
Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup dried cranberries
2 Tbs. brown sugar
1 Tbs. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 Tbs. margarine or butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Prep time: 45 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

Preheat oven to 375ÃÂº.

In a bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, stir together egg, milk, and oil; add to flour mixture. Mix well. Stir in dried cranberries. Pour into a greased 8- x 8-inch or 9- x 9-inch baking pan.

Combine brown sugar, 1 Tbs. flour, and cinnamon. Cut in margarine until crumbly. Stir in chopped nuts. Sprinkle over batter.

Bake 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm.

The sun is shining now and it's gorgeous, coming in the windows!
I've got my clothes out on the line across my balcony (we have a cement wall the width of the balcony, so the clothes can't be seen from the street).

I chopped up 4 huge pumpkins and ran them thru the processor for "the lads." Put it all in milk bags. I don't have room in the freezer for them right now, so they're out on the balcony in a bin. I'll use them up first. But I do keep all their food on the balcony thru the winter.

Am about to make my cookies with the chocolate chips, coconut and granola.

Good afternoon. I just finished watching figure skating and am about to start baking. I am making 2 dozen butter tarts and Paula Deans bacon wrapped breadsticks for a combined birthday/retirement party that I am going to this evening.

In the background on tv while I am baking I will have the World Cup of Curling Tournament which is being held in Windsor at the new arena built not too far from my house.

LOL I just decided before I do that I am going to have a cup of coffee and a banana sandwich for lunch.

It's 44 degrees here, but it feels nice because the sun is out. I just came in from doing errands and then taking the dogs out for a walk. I am simmering roasted beef bones and vegetables for canning tomorrow (after I let it chill overnight to get the fat out). I'm also making some chicken cordon blue for the freezer and some dog food also. I cleaned out my bedroom closet this morning, even though I only did it a month or so ago. I'm also going to clean out the bathroom cabinet. Oh, I'm about to clean the fridge out as well, It's very much a cleaning and organizing day!

Cool here, went to another craft show today, one yesterday, bought a pie, no baking here.
Opening day of deer season yesterday Lots and lots of orange in the area.
More craft shows all week and into next weekend.

I got some breathing room right now. Both kids are asleep. Lori is at work, and Doug went for a bicycle ride.

Did an early morning walk with them, and then just hanging out till lunch.

Lucky me, is getting some puter time. :)

Annual craft sale across the street, so I hit that a couple of times. Sue, does it count if I bought baked goods??? I did find scarves for the DGD for Christmas, then I called a friend and we went back there for soup lunch. In a few minutes, DD#4 and I are going to Holiday open house at an antique shop. Then I will come home and make pumpkin rolls for church coffee tomorrow.

Yes, my friend is coming for dinner and overnight so I have the pot roast in. Jasdip convinced me that apple crisp is "easy," so I have the apples and stuff to make that. Got to freshen up the bed, petsit my grand-dog too.

Jasdip, I read that honeycrisps are good for baking, so I got those.

I think I'll make some for tonite as well.
Just took my cookies out and they look great.

I toasted the pumpkin seeds, but they were in the oven too long. They tasted too dark so out they went.

Not really busy, just doing the laundry and a bit of cleaning like every Saturday. You just reminded me that I have a load of wet clothes to put in the dryer. LOL

GAWD! I am very lazy compared to you all~~~went to a farmers market in our downtown area cruised my 2 favorite shops came home and made a salad from what I bought and now will veg and read the rest of the day and night away!

Good grief....friend just called to remind me that we were going to go to the deer hunter supper at another church. Good thing she called....I had taken my socks off already!!

Not busy for a change! It feels weird to be able to sit for a while. I do have to start making food for our early Thanksgiving dinner tommarrow but for a few mins I'm going to veg on left overs from last nights gathering. I've been so busy cleaning and massive cooking for various different groups meeting that I'm all tuckered out.
Thankfully LOL, Thanksgiving is at MIL's house and I only have to prepare appetizers for Monday nights progressive dinner. It sure feels good to relax!( and watch my beloved outdoor kitty walk around my livingroom. He snuck in when the girls and their friends went outside.)

Sure I was busy. Garage saling is hard work, but so much fun. Then I went to the movie and saw HEREAFTER. Wish I had selected some other one.
