What Is Keeping You Busy Today?

It seems like I have been busy washing up dishes and things since I have been doing a lot of baking. I baked 3 pies, two will go into the freezer, a blueberry and a peach. The apple pie is for supper. All of the cinnamon rolls that were left went into the freezer. The chocolate chip cookies are ready to go into the oven. I cleaned and cooked fresh green beans that Cheryl gave me. I think those are all I will want for my supper. I love green beans. It is very pretty out and right now the temperature is 78. I think we are to get some rain by tomorrow evening. I guess we could use some. How is your weather wherever you are and what have you been doing today?

Another beautiful day here in Southern Ontario, Canada. 75 degrees and sunny. So I've cut all the grass, winterized the rain barrel, and emptied, organized and refilled the garden shed! Then I went grocery shopping! Now I'm pooped!
DH will grill something for dinner when he gets home. I'm going to relax on the deck with a glass of wine. The weather is supposed to change tomorrow to more seasonal, wet weather, so I'm going to enjoy my evening outside as much as I can.

Did some winter sowing of seeds, still have more to sow, but I've been lazy to get around to it this year. I've been doing some writing, that has occupied most of my time. I'm just now getting back into the gardening groove, cleaned out most of my beds the past few days. Searching the web for any new plants I may have to sneak around to buying (the boyfriend thinks plants are a waste of money). Looking forward to seeing increases on my daylilies, if ones that hadn't yet bloomed for me will this year, and see which of my baby hostas lived or died through the winter. Karen

Beautiful blooms!! Too bad they didn't have Jades too, I'm not a Cacti lover but those blooms are just gorgeous, there's def. plants there I've never seen before, very interesting and very cool. Thanks for posting!! Jojo, keep trying it took a while for the whole thing to load for me...almost a minute. My computer is running a little slow for the last couple of days :o(

Don't put anything off! DH and I used to let the kids trash their bedrooms and then we'd b*tch and moan but not really make them do much of anything. A week before school started, I deep cleaned their bedrooms. Threw out everything that was broken or really old. I organized everything---bought them some extra plastic stacking storage bins for the closets, etc. NOW---religiously---every night they are expected to clean up and put everything away. DH and I have been really good about not letting them say "oh, can't I do it tomorrow?" We don't care if they make a big mess when playing but we just remind them that whatever is taken out HAS to be put away that night before bed. I do the same for myself! I do not let dirty dishes sit in the sink overnight. Sometimes after dinner, I just don't feel like doing them, so I will stack them in the sink. But come 9-10 pm I make sure to thouroughly clean up the ktichen---load the dishwasher, run it, wipe down the stove, counters, etc. I just FEEL better when it's clean when I go to bed---and wake up, of course! The other thing I struggle with is laundry---namely, folding it and putting it away. I am TERRIBLE about leaving the clothes in the dryer and just getting them out of there as I need them. What I've done in the last few months is to sort/fold them on the couch while watching tv with DH. Then I have a distraction while I sort and fold, which helps immensely. I make different piles--ie, my closet, DH's t-shirt drawer, DD's room, SS's room, etc. We have all hardwood floors and I notice I really need to sweep every other day. Frankly, every day would probably be better. Stuff gets tracked in, the kids have sand in their shoes from the playground, etc. I try to sweep at least every other day. It is hard! I feel your pain. I am always amazed at how the house can from looking GREAT to a disaster zone in a matter of hours! It's frustrating!

Rhizo, those are really cute and festive. I'm sure they will be well received. OT - I'm not a cookie maker - give me a pie or other dessert assignment and I'll happily oblige - but for some reason I've never enjoyed making cookies much. I did do some cutout cookies to decorate for my niece and nephew a couple of times though, and was feeling pretty proud of myself - I'd outlined (squeeze bottle, not frosting bag), then flooded with royal icing, had them looking pretty darned good if I can say that ;-) The next time they were coming, nephew asked, Auntie M, can we have a different kind of cookie this time? Why, honey? The frosting on those tastes like egg whites to me!

Was soaking up the unseasonable warmth of the sun, until I came in here to talk to you guys ... and the new library has large windows all along one wall, so I can continue to enjoy it, even if second-handed. Community centre has a forest of solar panels covering all of the roof and has two ice rinks.

Gotta pay my utility bills and get some money from the bank, as I used almost all of my bills on Sunday (but change purse has quite a lot of value when heavy, including the $1.00 and $2.00 coins).

Church Council this evening.

Problem - I need to write up a letter certifying the amount of rent that I paid last year for landlord to sign, to send to Canada Revenue Agency, as they asked me for such ... but library printer is down.

Here I. am in Winnipeg, Man., enjoying our last beautiful fall day, I am cleaning out the flower beds and mulching the perennials. Gotta love it. Supposed to be a cold snowy winter, but we are heading down to Fla. soon, so we'll have a good winter no matter what happens here up north. However, I still manage to complain about the hot temps down there. Hubby says I am never happy, but I sure am today.

It's windy outside, so normal for Nebraska just before the big chill. I'm taking another break at the kt. Just finished washing my dd's horse because she's at school and it's almost 80 today. His name is Jack and he's a cutie head. Such a nice boy because he's been at the trainers all summer up until the 5th when he came here. He wanted to roll ( I did NOT want him to) after his bath and I couldn't find a sturdy place to tie him up in this PITA wind. Tried one place but he was all worried and well, just being a horse. Finally put him in his stall, where I had to sweep up the horse pucks in case he rolled in there. I washed him near my garden shed, at the tie up so the ground was soggy and he was digging around, sloshing mud up. Couldn't leave him there either. Now I'm tired from our walk all over the farm but at least he's sparkly clean. Time to run to town for laundry soap and pick up the youngster from school. She owes me! :)

My boss!!! LOL!!! The weather is supposed to change tomorrow and he is traveling today so I was really hoping that I would be able to sneak outside and get a few things done. No such luck, he left later than planned and left me with a desk full of work! AAAACCCKKKKK!

Just taking it easy waiting for the Detroit Tigers/Texas Rangers ALCS game tonight. Their game was so emotionally draining last night that fans need all day to rest.

I've been a bit lazy.

Was up early, had a dentist appt. to have my new crown installed. Unfortunately, when he was shaping it, his hand slipped and he--I'm not kidding--drilled my TONGUE! Ouch!!! Have to say, it's a bit sore, and swollen (I'm lisping a bit when I speak).

Then a run to the bank.

Came home, was on the phone for a bit--trying to order a cake for Thanksgiving (the guy is a true artist, but SO hard to catch up with), and arranging with my dd when she wanted me to sit at her condo to accept a furniture delivery.

Otherwise, just kind of messing around on here, and reading. Now, waiting for DH to get home--he had overtime tonight, and then he had to go for an X-ray.

Slept in today, my day off. Then ran to Frankfort to cancel a layaway of a violin for Alex for Christmas. He wanted to learn to play but when I asked Lauren to pass on the fact that I put one on layaway to her father, he sent back a message saying he already bought him one. Thank goodness the shop had a 30 day cancellation policy.

Then went to Wal-Mart in Frankfort to do some shopping for a lunch we're having tomorrow at a friend's house. I'm baking a Marie Calender pumpkin pie right now for it. I'm also going to make a pumpkin caramel dessert (boxed) that I bought about a week ago. It's probably not going to be enough for all of us so I went and got the pumpkin pie too.

Going to make some tacos for dinner tonight too...thawing out the ground beef now. Then I want to relax and read the paper and watch a movie I rented last night. I may end up having to do laundry tonight too since tomorrow will probably be busy.
