Good Morning on Thursday the 10th

How is everyone's weather today? Sunny and a bit chilly 43 here. At least is is not as windy and cold as it was yesterday! I have a chuck roast in the oven for supper and will probably bake a cake or something in a little while. Izzi and I went for a big rig ride this morning to the mail box and out back and around. The air was quite nippy. Our son was out today and cut up a good sized tree that had blown down and also split the wood and hauled it away to sell. We have dryer wood we will use. I did our weekly grocery shopping yesterday with Amber and Alyssa. They had a great sale on boneless, skinless chicken breasts, at $1.59 a pound.

Our son in law had surgery yesterday to have a temporary port put in for dialysis and today will have his first dialysis. He is not well, lots of health issues for him. I keep doctoring a sore throat, but it could be worse. How is everyone and what have you been doing lately.

Everything here is the same as usual. No problems and The sun is shinning. The paper said the rain we had did make an impact on our drought for that I am happy. No plans for today except to go out to lunch and visit my sister if she can give up her soaps to visit with me. LOL

Cloudy/sunny and cool today. High of 8, half of what we have been having.

I've got a new pork recipe marinating and will roast it for dinner.
I'll keep you posted, how we like it.

hairmetal4ever, I posted this on another post but I'll put it here too. Yesterday my 21-year-old son said, "This is the most bi-polar weather I have seen in my life." and I told him it's the most bi-polar weather I've seen in my life too. (I'm half a century now). I didn't actually measure but it looked like 6" on my car yesterday. A few years ago we did get snow on May 1st, but never got this cold. We broke a lot of records for cold this year. So on the bright side it's a good indication of what trees are bud hardy. Keepers: Pipestone plum, Saturn, NJ 252, and O'Henry peach (all of them still have some good buds or are blooming now). Hoyt Montrose apricot also made it through last night which went down to 22F officially. Then there's this volunteer peach that looks as if it was not affected at all; it's loaded with blooms. I will see if they are worth eating this summer. I'm rethinking my zone denial issues but also trying to come up with a good solution so next spring I don't face this problem.

The tree cutters came and picked up all the debris. They did a good job, but got our neighbor angry because they came through their driveway to get to the vacant lot next door. They had cut an enormous limb that had fallen over there. They left some ruts in the yard, so I had to do some tall apologizing, etc. Our pest control man came this afternoon and identified the flying demons as metallic beetles. They were all over the trees, and he said they were after the sap that was oozing after having the branches trimmed. They were dive-bombing me while he was here. I had to wear a hat today to keep them out of my hair. He'll be back next week to spray for them. This post disappeared this morning, but I see it is back on the forum again. Happy Saturday!!! Yes I'm seed planting now - but in different ways. I cannot plant until after the last frost day - normally in Ontario Canada it's the 3rd weekend in May. Right now I am starting some stuff to grow indoors - even a few tomato plants. I have ample south facing windows. Some of my veggies are to share with friends too. Things like some of my slow growing flowers - lavender - I like to start a huge tray indoors. Since the onion seeds are from big onions, I'd be lucking in spring to have small bulbs from the seeds. The herbs will eventually go outside. My next venture is using water jugs I saved from the summer to do 'Winter Sowing' - had lots of success with that over the years everywhere I lived. Trudi who started it all now has her own website and has moved on but left terrific FAQs at GW. My other focus for this week is challenging others to tackle a box a day to declutter (it's on the KT). Makes this unpacking a little more fun. Misery loves company! LOL. Last night we had friends over for dinner and cards. We had a riot. I had waaaaay too much fun. Let myself go too much but mentally it was all worth it. Haven't laughed like that in some time. Besides laughter burns energy. I'm carrying on today. Did not get my cook ahead done because DH and I spent the afternoon giving this place a good cleaning over (felt fantastic afterwards). My new friend Catherine last night mentioned a nearby town (she lives just outside) is starting a quilt club. She's interested and so am I. We're going to check that out. While we go quilting our boys will enjoy male bonding. I'm getting more social activity in the country than I had living in the city. You can take a bus in the city to a shopping venue or park but that's not socializing. This is better than prozac! Besides I have a ton of quilting magazines I might find good homes for. So lets really get out there an enjoy this weekend. My continued love and support to all of use - my arms are open for sharing hugs. I had to drive. All day yesterday. There was so much rain in the area, three counties closed schools. I took the boy into downtown, rather than make him ride the bus in those conditions. Then, I grabbed a cup of coffee and picked up my mom for her second follow up to her knee replacement surgery. They said she did well with her PT and released her to drive! Yahoo! You shoulda seen her face light up. She's had a sinus infection and UTI, so I had to take her to that appointment when done with her knee. We had lunch-burgers and fries. Yay! We're both lacking. I haven't been eating as much bad stuff, and she's been stuck at home. After lunch, since she still didn't have her car, I took her to get her prescription for her antibiotics filled and new filters for her hearing aid. Then, I had to drive to the southeast side of town for an errand. Then, I had to drive to work (for a whole hour and half) on the west side of town. Back into downtown to pick up the boy after school and fencing, and head back home to the northeast side of town. Drive, drive, drive. I think I visited every part of Nashville yesterday, except the northwest portion. I was never so happy to be at home sitting on the couch and vegging out as I was yesterday evening.

I just got an invite to go with oldest daughter to McDonald's to pick up a McRib, so I won't turn that down! My cake is about done in the oven! Enjoy the day!

It's sunny and not very warm here today. They started replacing our roof this morning. Good grief, the noise! They took off all the old shingles and tar paper and now have a lot of the new tar paper on. Those guys really work hard!!

I pulled some vegetable beef soup out of the freezer this morning and I'll make some corn bread later.

So sorry about your SIL and hope that sore throat of yours gets better soon.

It is sunny, but a cool breeze here in Oklahoma. Should have gone riding... and may still do.

Meanwhile, I checked out another house. Two guy friends of mine checked it out with me. Both think the asking price is to high for what I would get.

Not sure yet, if I will offer anything, or just continue looking.

Got to hang up some laundry and then scat, if I will ride.

Hi Sue--and all: Cold today, no snow yet, around 39. Some of ND below 10 this morning. We too have been fighting colds. Some flu going around, we had our shots about a month ago. Deer season in full swing here, Not sure what we will have for supper yet.

It has been a heckuva week, cannot wait till next week. My boss gets married Saturday so we are heading to DC on Friday and we were busy today. Had a manicure at 8, got home and hit the ground running. My travel work was crazy and so was my 'real' job! LOL!! Last minute work getting the band (they are from L.A.) set up, finalizing the rehearsal and out of town guest party for Friday night, the Sunday brunch......and trying to get the actual work for the office done..... It's no wonder that I've been starting at 7 each morning and finishing up at 9 at night.

It's cold here. Worked the last two nights and now I'm off for two...back on the weekend. I'm going to go grocery shopping tomorrow after I pick Alex up at his dorm. When I'm there I'm going to get something to help me stay awake for the drive home. I did ok the first morning but this morning I almost fell asleep.
