Got the oven preheating to make a pie crust. I forgot to get the Cool Whip & Cream Cheese out of the freezer as well as the cornbreaad......I am not hitting on all cylinders yet. Just took a 5 hour energy shot, so I will be moving along pretty soon.....lol

I definitely have to take too frequent breaks since being rear ended on the freeway 6 weeks ago. I need to use the heating pad after doing just a little.

I have the pumpkin bread and cranberry sauce finished. DIL is bringing the salad, rolls and the vegetables. Sister is bringing the dessert. I think I will try cooking and peeling the sweet potatoes today and slicing them tomorrow into the pan with the brown sugar and butter.

My sons and DIL will pitch in to make it happen tomorrow. But today I need to iron the cloth for the table and make a last run to the grocery store to pick up the turkey and a few other things.

This afternoon I make the pie, and that will be it for today!

I wish I was setting the table, but we're gathering with a group of friends and their adult children at someone else's house. I love to set a holiday table.

Instead I'm tasked with bringing side dishes. Today I'm making a cranberry chutney. I'll trim Brussels sprouts. Make a vinaigrette (I'm going to cut them in half and roast them then toss in the vinaigrette).

That's about all I can do today. Most of my work will be tomorrow. I drew a short straw and have to make mashed potatoes for 10 people!!

We lost our power for ten hours so I'm behind. It just came back on and I'm having lunch and then tackle the cooking items lest it go off again. My priority is to get my red velvet cake made lol.

Cheesecake is 'resting ' in the oven. Cranberry/orange relish is done, potatoes are mashed. The flower stems have been recut and are sitting in warm water and the floral foam has been cut. I've sprayed some magnolia stems with high gloss metallic gold, copper, and silver paint and they're sitting in the sun. Can't wait to get started on the decorating!

Tonight, in a little while, I'll put the brisket in the oven for tomorrow. Tastes so much better the day after its cooked.

Three pies (apple, mincemeat, and pecan) are done. Celery and onion for the stuffing are chopped. Need to unwrap the turkey and cook the giblets. Will make the roll dough and refrigerate it this evening. That's it for today. House was cleaned last week.
I am happy because my youngest son who lives out of town is coming this afternoon , praying he has a safe drive here.

I'm with the take a break crowd, only I took a one hour nap. I have the dressing in the crock pot liner ready to start first thing in the morning. The cinnamon apples are cooking and making the house smell wonderful. The corn casserole is in the frig ready to bake. I am pretty worn out. I've decided that if I don't get the green bean casserole done, we'll just have plain old green beans. But hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. I didn't get my chocolate angel pie made either. Sigh!

The pumpkin bread is done. The celery, onions & peppers are sauteed, and the eggs are peeled. But I am behind. I need to get the cornbread torn up in little pieces by the food processor, but it is being cantankerous so that will have to wait for Tony to come home tonight. He knows how to hold his mouth just right to make the dang thing work. He will also use it to grate the cheese for the cheese roll. I am taking a smoke break. then I will finish the peanut butter pie. Just found out I am supposed to make the gravy for the dressing...with no giblets mind you. will use canned chicken & chicken broth...gggrrrr on having to make the gravy....

I am quitting for today, will finish up before noon, the good Lord willing! I will be going to bed early as I usually get up early.

Anyone else calling it a day?

And I'm still shopping. :( It's crazy out there! At least I have a couple of helpers. I'm having a quick tea and oatmeal cookie break, then back to it!

2 pumpkin pies done,and 1 apple pie in the oven.Sweet potatoes are cooked and are cooling,and I will fix them with brown sugar,cinnamom,pinch of nutmeg,and grannysmith apples.

DH already made the greens,stuffing,and has everything laid out for the cornbread.

1 son is bringing 2 turkeys,1 roasted and the other deep fried,and is also bringing the mashed taters,other son is bringing a honey baked ham,rice and rolls,and whatever else strikes their fancy.

Am trying something new with pumpkin pie this year. I have made the filling, brought it to a simmer on top of the stove for 5 minutes, and it is now in the saucepan, covered with a towel and then a lid to cool so that I can put it in the refrigerator overnight. I hope that this method takes away that sometimes raw pumpkin taste that pumpkin pies have (I hope y'all understand what I am saying). Early tomorrow morning will blind bake pie crust, then pour the filling in and bake in the toaster oven. This is also supposed to keep the filling from cracking. We'll see.

Also have dressing/stuffing made just waiting for some stock to be added in the morning. I am going to cook in the crockpot.

Have also decided to cook sweet potatoes in the crockpot.

Turkeys are thawed.

Tonight, still have to prepare cucumber salad and dough for hot rolls that will stay in fridge overnight. Hopefully, I will get the herbal iced tea made, also.

Carrot cake is made.

I was going to make a homemade cranberry mold, but after consultation with family, discovered that they would prefer the Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce, so that is what we will have.

I am tired just reading this.
