Happy Birthday to my first child!

Today is Dakota's 7th birthday! She's getting awfully white in her face. I hate that she's getting old, especially since they say the average life of a boxer is 10 years!! I can't bare to think that she'll only be here another few years...so I DONT think about it. She's still my baby, and has been such a good girl all these years.

I think we'll bake her a doggy cake today!

I have made a "birthday cake" out of balogna for my dogs. Just roll slices and pile them on a plate. I stick a candle on the plate and put a paper party hat on the dog. Sorry I don't have pics. Dakota looks a little sad.

It is so hard at that age. When they get older, they know it's coming, too, and can get to the toilet. But toddlers/preschoolers, it just spews wherever they are! They don't understand, they just see/feel their body doing something very scary and painful. It's hard. Poor Grant! I'm glad he got his rest and is getting back to himself. The worst night I had was when #4 was about 18 mos, which made the others 3, 6, and 9 at the time. About 4am one of them woke up sick, threw up, about the time I had that one settled back down in clean sheets the next one woke up and threw up. And it continued until all 4 of them had thrown up 3-4 times. It was just constant well into the next afternoon. At first I thought I must have fed them all something bad and went through the kitchen trying to consider the possible problem, but some friends reported the same bug with their kids and DH and I avoided it. Oh, the laundry! Every blanket, sheet, pillowcase, and big beach towel in the house was a mess. I think I avoided that one somehow. A little girl on DD's gymnastic's team was sick (nauseous, didn't throw up yet) this weekend at while at the gym. Her mom warmed up Sprite in the microwave for the girl to sip before she took her home. She said it works for her kids every time.

Hi I had a similar situation from my first marriage . Saw my daughter once at two months and then again 35 years later lol The meeting was arranged by friends and she was at their home during a visit to my home town . Total surprise for me lol Interesting that during the meeting I had no idea who she was but immediately noticed how much she looked like her mother 35 years ago of course lol She was married and had children of her own my grandchildren which were almost teenagers . had intentionally avoided the meeting as I was totally unprepared to explain what happened . Interestingly that was not a problem we talked mostly about her kids and her mother her life but almost nil about the past. She said that she was very happy to have finally met me as my name had come up in conversations over the years lol Wasn't bad and am sort of glad that it happened though I certainly wouldn't have arranged it She returned to her life and me to mine naturally and since we live almost 2000 miles apart we do exchange info a bit. Has tapered off in the last few years My grandchildren send me Christmas and Birthday cards As to your problem there's really only two choices either do it now or much much later?? I make a cake for my furkid by shaping some canned food and then using french fries (his favorite treat) to mimic candles. He always barks along with us as we sing happy birthday lol

I know what you mean Steph! I read somewhere that the life span of Shih Tzu's is 10yrs. Jasper is probably around 5yrs. old! Like you..I just try not to think about it!

You may have a few white hairs but you're still a beauty!

I look at pups for sale at an online site Stephanie and I see boxers every now and again, NONE are as pretty as your girl! They are cuties, but not quite like Dakota! Sneak her a treat from me will you?

Happy Birthday Dakota!

When my friend Kathy was here the last week I was showing her pictures of Grant and Dakota that you posted here. I still have the Chrsitmas pictures of Grant and Dakota making cookies on my fridge from last year and she wanted to see some updated pictures of him.

My Loki is 11 years old and sometimes when the thought of him leaving me pops into my head my heart hurts terribly and I try to block the thought. I just can't imagine him not being here anymore.

Happy birthday Dakota, from Cocoa, Harley Joe and Pocita. They are Chihuahua's. I used to have a boxer named Lancer. He was so great with the kids and we all loved him so much. He passed away of cancer at the age of 11 yrs. Vique.

Aw, Dakota is beautiful! She looks like my Sasha, who is four years old. (She and her sister Bella, who is a fawn Boxer) will be five in February.
Boxers are wonderful pets.

AWWWW...big wet sloppy kisses and a Happy Birthday to you Dakota!!

She's a real sweetie and it is a heartbreaker that they don't live long...

Now go bake her a cake or at the very least some white cupcakes!! (I did that after I priced a doggie cake at the store...17.00...it was more then a REAL cake!)
