Yes a manicure or pedicure definitely makes me feel pampered. I know one older woman who gets manicures because she is lonely and loves the human touch and chatting with the manicurist. And if ANYONE cooks a meal for me, I'm bowled over! I'll never forget, when I was in college my (female) roommate borrowed a toaster oven and made me meatloaf.

A good massage by someone who knows what they are doing. I like 1.5 hours, not just an hour.

Also time to relax and do anything I want (knit, watch TV, read) during the day when I feel like I should be accomplishing something around the house or yard.

Maybe it's my age, but I'm not crazy about the word pampered. Sounds like someone's being fitted for diapers. LOL

My DH watched a PBS show on massage.....he's "VERY" good and 30 min - an hour does it for me! :0)

I also like eating lunch at Taco Bell(5 layer burrito) and this is a treat.....gives me "time off"....I can sit and chat & not be stirring a pot or flipping an empanada, no clean up and I hate being waited on....:0)

A foot massage works fine every time. I don't get them anymore, since DH passed away, but oh, the memories!

Hee-hee, yes those advertising mogols have done a good job associating "pamper" with diapers! (Maybe they have Pampers for Ladies"?)

I do *appreciate* things my DH does for me, like unloading the groceries (and putting them in the car if he is shopping with me). He will drop me off and go park -- to save me the extra steps. He does some of the 'women's work' around the house too, like unloading the dishwasher, dusting ( I sneeze), carrying the laundry basket, helping to make the bed -- lots of things, and all without being *asked*. He's almost always upbeat and he is *considerate*!

As far as outside the home, yes a pedicure along with a foot and leg massage will do it everytime. At home, simple things like hubs keeping my coffe cup filled, cooking, the ice cream in a cone that he fixes me even when I don't have to hint at it. I certainly hope the day never comes when he feels like I expect it.... I will do my part to see that never happens.

When the cleaning ladies come. Not often, but sure like the feeling after they cleaned and leave.

Oh just about anything someone else does for me, makes me feel pampered. EXCEPT cleaning ladies..if feel like I need to have the house spotless before they get here...

When I get my hair cut, about four times per year, my stylist gives me a wonderful scalp massage. I don't like body massage, but her scalp massage almost brings me to tears because it feels so good.

My nightly bubblebaths with candles and a good book.

I guess I am very practical too....I don't think I ever feel pampered except there are a few things that I'd love that would make my life a lot easier. I only have one outside faucet here. I have to drag hoses to water anything. There are probably six hoses hooked together to fill the water trough that is out in the front pasture. If I had outside faucets where I could just turn on the water at several different places....that would make me feel pampered. I'm going to work on getting that done too!

I agree with message, pedicures and basically anything anyone else does for me.
I love dining out or having someone else cook for me.

A good book in a cozy chair on a rainy/snowy day in front of a fire in the wood stove.

I used to enjoy scalp massages, but now that I have wires in my head, I'm cautious about having my head touched too much - I'd hate to have a wire broken or something.

Massages and pedicures do it for me. This summer I got a deep cleaning of my house by professional cleaners.

Like some of you I don't care for the touchy stuff much but I do like having a cleaning lady come once a month and taking the dog the the groomer once in a while (although I usually groom him at home)
I used to cut my hair but didn't do a very good job so I go in every couple of months and trim my hair in the meantime.....going out to eat is nice because I don't have to cook or clean up, we do that a lot now that we are senior citizens.

When he gets up, and before he leaves the room, asks, "Is there anything you need?"

That just floors me, every time.

Nothing I like better than a sweet husband and it sounds like there's lots of them around.

HMM when my DH fills my car with gas for me and always makes sure it is clean. AHH when he has a bottle of wine chillin' in the fridg when I get home from the long traffic drive from visiting my cranky mom;) OH! runs and gets me dinner, when I do not want to cook~~~all of my pampering comes from this wonderfu man;)

Marilyn -- Tell the plumber you need some more 'hose bibs'. (Isn't that a funny term?) If you have hard freezes, get the frostfree faucets on them.

Sometimes when I'm feeling my aches my hubby will run me a bath and it feels so good. Once I had a friend pick me up from the airport and when she dropped me off at home I saw she not only watered my plants while I was gone but bought me fresh bread, pastries and had fresh juice and milk in my refrigerator. I didn't expect anything and I remember it clearly after thirty years!

I don't think I ever have felt pampered. If someone does something for me I appreciate it, not pampered.

I think I'm like Marilyn Sue, I feel very appreciative, not pampered....In the past couple of years, my hubby has taken over the "carrying"..If I'm going to do laundry, he makes sure he carries the basket of clothes to the basement and out to the line if I'm hanging outside...It's little things like that, I really appreciate

I guess it would be to not have to cook and to go out to dinner. If I had limitless funds, I would not cook but maybe once a week or maybe twice at the most. As I've gotten older, I have really started to hate cooking A LOT! I guess it's not really the cooking, it's the cleaning up after that I hate to do.

For me I feel pampered every day of my married life. Hubby has been there every time I have been sick & that has been quite a lot.

No matter what I need he is there for me.

Well, my DH is not a pamperer and has the sensitivity of an ox, but he DOES open doors for me. I guess his childhood training is very ingrained.

He opens (and holds) doors for all females. Surprises me every time, because the rest of the time he really is an ox. (Sorry, dear!)

I too am one of the lucky ones who is pampered by hubby. And since he retired it's even better. I come home to dinner on the table almost every night. House is clean, etc. etc.

But this thread, for some reason, reminded me of what happened several years ago with my DD. She had been in a serious relationship with a guy who took a job in a city about 5 hours away. He wanted her to move with him but she said no. But they were trying to keep the relationship going. On her first visit to him, about one month after he moved, he had no food for her in the apartment, did not want to pick her up at the airport, wanted her to take a train etc. When she arrived back at the airport at home, her best friend picked her up, holding a sign and flowers. She said that is when it hit her that her friends treated her far better than her boyfriend did. She broke up with him the next day. She is now happily married to a very thoughtful, considerate young man. And they pamper each other.

Coffee in bed. It's not that I like drinking coffee in bed, but my husband brings me coffee in bed maybe twice a year and it's such a sweet thing for him to do, that it makes me feel a little pampered. But even more so, is the fact that he gets out of bed when the puppies start whimpering on weekend mornings and takes them for that early morning walk while I sleep in an extra hour.

Buying a new book.. I know that sounds trivial but it makes me happy. I love my kindle, but I still like to buy a book occasionally. I like to see it on the nightstand.

Second best is buying one for the kindle.

If someone would clean the kitchen top to bottom for me right now I would feel extremely pampered as well as grateful. Since I am the only one here, I guess that's not going to happen.
