What puts an instant grin on your face?

Seeing my favorite players come to the casino, it always puts me in a good mood. I love the ones who are regulars and know how to take care of the dealers and don't blame anyone if they lose.

My other is cute couples. The other night there was a tiny 70-ish Japanese woman playing in my pit, her husband, a tall African-American gentleman about the same age stood quietly behind her the whole time, and when she got up, she looked up at him and he took both hands and gently smoothed down her hair twice then gave her a gentle kiss on top of her head and they smiled at each other with so much love you could just feel it. There were two young guys on the table, and they spoke before I said anything and said "how cute are they?". I went over to the couple and gave them two complimentary beverage coupons and told them it was the prize for being the sweetest couple in the casino. The both grinned ear to ear and I knew it made their night. I know it made mine!

They have to be doing something as I keep seeing her watching something above her head and you sorta see something move and then she roars with laughter and then they feed the dog popcorn. Whatever its quite the laugh on that baby. Joy to hear babies laugh like that.

What colors worked in your NW-facing low-natural-light rooms?

Thank you for your help everybody, I finally found one color that works in both rooms. It is a BM Gentle Cream which is in the off-white collection. I wanted more color but it looks like with the northern exposure combined with the low ceiling and narrow rooms there is just no visual space for anything more intense. Gentle Cream actually lives up to its name, it doesn't look pink or peach in either room and not too yellow either (Papaya was a little too yellow). And yes, the type if bulbs makes a big difference. We have some kind of "true light" in the DR, similar to Reveal and this particular color looks more yellow there. The LR has halogen recessed lights and the color has a slight green tint to it in that room. I also encountered this issue in my kids' bathroom. Picked a countertop which looked beige-cream in the showroom, almost exactly like the color of the tile we selected. I did cheked the sample at home but during the day, the lighting wasn't istalled yet in the bathroom. Once installed, the counter looked almost yellow in the bathroom with the regular flood bulbs. Back in San Francisco it was hot enough straight out of the tap for (instant) oatmeal." --- Just a minor nitpick ... actually, the water boils sooner at altitude, but it boils at a lower temperature, so it takes things longer to cook. (It has to do with the lower air pressure at altitude, and water boils when the water vapor pressure exceeds the atmospheric pressure.) I'm trying to decide on an instant-hot, and I too am at altitude, so thanks for your experience. I guess the temp in the water tank is lower because it has to keep beneath boiling ... just like the coffee makers (coffee is never quite hot enough in the mountains, and just barely at home).

So I have owned 3 pressure cookers. The first one was from QVC I believe and stopped working a month after warranty :\ The second was an Instant Pot. I believe it was a 6qt. I liked it but noticed it took forever to come to pressure and on certain dishes I'd get a burn notice. So during spring time I saw another 6qt Instant Pot on sale at the grocery store and got it. It was a little different than the one I had. Man what a difference. It comes to pressure so much quicker and haven't had a burn notice yet. I have a love/hate relationship with the sauté function. It's nice to have but it gets way too hot and sometimes things tend to stick. I've tried posting some "What's your favorite instant pot recipe" posts on here but unfortunately not many respond. :( I'd like some new recipes. One quick recipe you can make is with small potatoes, baby carrots and chicken (I use thighs). The recipe says to sauté the chicken but I just toss it in. Then you add a bottle of Italian salad dressing. I usually use greek dressing. It's very good and an easy recipe :) Best Instant Pot Chicken

My neighbor adopted a little girl from China. She is so darling. I have to smile every time I see her. She is amazing -- cute and smart. I just can't help but think what might have been if my neighbor had not adopted her.

It doesn't take much, I smile a lot. Just looking at the things I decorate my home with, travel souvenirs, pictures on the walls, my signs like "Three Wise Men.....you've got to be kidding" or this one.

Every Sunday morning, there is a family with a little boy, probably close to 2 yrs. old and when the Priest walks down the aisle to start Mass, this little one is waiting, he stops and always shakes hands with this little boy.....Seeing the look on this little ones face always puts a smile on our faces along with really giving a sense of peace and happiness.....

Another great thread!

Instant grins for me are many...looking at my furbaby, watching our tortoise when she's not in hibernation, watching nature in general, and of course seeing my son's face anytime...just to mention a few.

Reading vala's sign sure just did...lol!

Laughing and singing little ones in the supermarket.

Our friends' son who just finished MC boot camp and is home on leave for a short visit, then on to more schooling. He's a great kid and very focused.

I'm a couple of blocks from the lake. Seeing youngsters walk by with a fishin' pole slung over their shoulder on the way to the lake makes me smile every time!
