Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'm also glad to be enjoying Thanksgiving virtually with all of you. Max went to our DIL's parents home, two hours away, bearing cranberry relish, cranberries baked with port, the best roast veggies we've ever made (loads of fennel, red onion, Brussels sprouts and carrots dressed with olive oil, dijon, balsamic vinegar, a little honey and some herbs)and two bottles of wine. Max did a most of the work, I washed my hands a lot and tried to help. I'm at home coughing and sneezing uncontrollably - really rotten timing - but I'm glad he went. He'll come home with turkey and sides for me for tomorrow and we have a four day weekend. Then only four more workdays and he retires, we are both happy about that. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Like Bee, I am glad to have found GW 10 years ago. It seems like yesterday! My daughter-in-laws father works for Ameren in Illinois and just returned from working on the east coast. I prayed for his safety daily and for those who are victims of Sandy. We are blessed with a wonderful family and our extended family of friends. This holiday season, keep the less fortunate in your thoughts and prayers. My children are in education and they share about so many children and families that need assistance. There are families living in domestic violence shelters that operate on limited budgets. The lost generation, the elderly, with no family or visitors. The Salvation Army, local food pantries, churches, youth facilities - they all need assistance. It is not only money, but also time. Five minutes with an elderly person lifts their spirits. Last Sunday we shared in a Thanksgiving meal at my MILs assisted living home. There was a woman I thought was someone from my childhood. I asked the workers her name and it was my childhood friendly lady. I thought she had passed years earlier. I knocked on her door and we had a delightful chat. She asked no less than 3 times my name and when I told her, she lit up. She shared stories about my mother who died in 1980. Our chat meant as much to me as it did to her. Have a blessed season.

Happy Thanksgiving! It's shivery here, with no power since Monday night and uncharacteristically cold temps outside. Thank goodness for the gas rangetop. And we now hear chainsaws down the road, hopefully getting the tree of the lines. 9 of the 10 of us are here, and the 10th is happily situated with another big family who is sharing their holiday with her...and we're all well and safe...so we count our many blessings. Wishing you all a warm and safe and love-filled day.

I actually celebrated Thanksgiving with my family, mainly to show our grandchildren all the paper turkeys, pilgrims and pumpkins we brought back from our American half-year when their parents were small. It also gave me an opportunity to give my daughter the pumpkin pie she loves since her only American Thanksgiving. We were thankful, too, because she has had two job offers after being out of work for six months.
