Black Friday Shopping?

Hi all, I check out the KT every morning with my coffee, and love the posts and pics! Sure beats the news on tv.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Now, who all is going to be out there early on Friday

shopping???

I've went with my daughter for the last 6 yrs.!

One year her mother-in-law came with us, and never wanted

to go again!

It's not for everyone....

I can see where it would be fun for some--especially with your daughter--but it's not for me. I will, however, be hunched over my computer, checking out Black Friday specials online. I did well the past couple of years.

I would wait until you are closer to your remodel, for the reasons already mentioned in this thread. We bought our Kitchenaid DW online because the price was too good. It was better than anything we'd seen locally, and we'd been watching the local prices carefully. Not only that, we were about to pull the trigger on the DW, and saw that on the KA website that they'd been offering rebates. At that time, we literally missed the deadline for the rebate by 2 days. Then things came up in our remodel which delayed ordering several kitchen items like faucet and DW for several months (glad we didn't lose out on that warranty time). (And, by the way, there is ALWAYS some delay or another - don't expect things to finish when you expected them to.) Anyway, by the time we purchased our DW online, KA was once again offering rebates on DWs. I think it had been 3 months since the previous one ended. I sent in our rebate form, forgot about it, and about 6 weeks later, a $100 master card arrived in the mail. Like a nice little surprise bonus gift. Had we shopped only at Black Friday, we wouldn't have gotten the rebate, and I didn't see the Black Friday prices any better than the online price. (if you decide to order online, make sure the retailer is an Authorized Dealer of the brand you want). Also, you couldn't PAY me to walk into an appliance store on Black Friday. It'll be a chaotic mess.

Blanco Biscotti sink?

In the photo, the biscotti appears very yellow to me. Is it? I echo your concerns about the all of those colors. The brown will show less dirt and grime in your sink so it will look cleaner even when dirty. Call or e-mail Blanco and have them send you a sample of the biscotti. I did that when I was considering using a brown Blanco with a brown Elkay. I wanted to make sure the two would work together. (BTW, I have heard lately from a couple people that the Blanco sinks are of higher quality and are wearing much better than Elkay.) I received a sample in the mail in about a week! Do you have that kind of time? If not, then it sounds like a roadtrip for you! I hope you win on the brown sink too. Aren't you the one who does most of the cooking and sink scrubbing after all??! ;) Let him "help" with the cab pulls.

I went to KAM in Hyannis and bought dishwasher, but not because it was black Friday but rather because I really need a new one since I'm putting a new kitchen in as I type. Timing just happened to be this way. Bosch has a November rebate - not related to Black Friday - on their stuff and you have to have purchased it by Nov. 30. I had only decided the day before the get a new DW. However, I got home and was looking online at the DW I had bought that morning and saw it was much less expensive online, so I called KAM and they honored the price difference, plus $10. However, I have to pay sales tax, which I wouldn't have had to do buy buying it online. KAM, though, will service it if it needs it since I bought it from them, so I think worth paying the tax. Wheeled the old lousy but working DW out to the end of my driveway with a "free, works, all parts" sign on it, and it was gone with in a half hour. Discovered a part I forgot to stick in the DW this morning, though. I feel bad.

Yes, I had a "normal shopping session" which means I didn't set foot into any store but the grocery store and the small, locally-owned used bookstore on Small Business Saturday. I never participate in Black Friday and try to permanently boycott, as much as possible, retail businesses that open on Thanksgiving itself. I will, however, remain loyal to stores like REI that remained closed on Friday giving their employees two days of holiday pay in order to spend time with their families (or go for a hike in the woods). My kind of people.

DH & I go every year.....it's fun. We like people watching....we don't neeeeeeeeeed anything. DH found a BIG pack of batteries that are free after rebate for instance.

If anyone is interested...ACE Hardware is offering a set of 3 Henckles knives for $14.99. Full tang, 3 rivot....NICE!

One year DD asked if I'd go with her...She said, we'll go early, no one will see us and we'll be back home before her kids were awake...She did pick me up early, neither really wore makeup, she in glasses no contacts, me with my cup of coffee that spilled on my sweat shirt half way to the store...We got there and ran into everyone under the sun..So much for not seeing anyone we knew...We piled the buggy with all our goodies and just as we were coming around one of the aisles, someone took our picture and asked a couple of questions....That afternoon, there right on the front page of our local paper, a huge picture of DD and me with our buggy loaded with Christmas gifts...I swear everyone and their brother saw that paper and called.....That was my last Black Friday shopping!

I will be at a local mall later in the day for a hair appt~~~if it is not crowded I will cruise the mall but it really only has one store Macy's that I like so maybe not;)

I think I'll check out those knives at Ace...

Maybe if they have a enough sets..get my mom one and brother too..
Hubby bought me a set that same "size" of Messermeisters a few years back that I love.

Am looking for a regular brick and mortar store that sells homedics? Saw a great gift on QVC but want to physically see it and don't know where to look?

I don't need anything. I finished shopping. Well, I have some gifts to buy but I haven't asked for hints yet (for a friend's two girls).

I picked up two items at Wal-Mart today that I ordered online and had shipped Site-to-Store (just so Nick wouldn't see the box - shipping to my house would have been free too). I saw the same or very similar items in their Black Friday ad and they were $20 cheaper,total, but they didn't include the two cases and a set of rechargeable batteries that I got so I have no regrets.

I'm curious what our Wal-Mart will be like. I almost want to go at midnight just to know. It's not like there is anything else around it, this is a one-horse town. How crazy can it be?

My husband is going with our son in law and they are looking for a new garage door opener for one of our garage doors, I guess they have a special price on it. Two of our daughters are going, but not leaving until around 9:00. I will be home puppy sitting and trying to rest up!

We dropped by a shopping center this evening on our way home from Thanksgiving dinner at Knott's Berry Farm and saw that a Best Buy and Toys R Us both had people lined up out front in lawn chairs and blankets. It's about 50 degrees right now. I would not want to be outside all night just to save a few bucks on a TV or toy.

DH though will probably hit a store or two before I even wake up in the morning.
