Sounds like a winner to me. Phoenix is just this side of H--- right now. Walk out of the house and into an oven. I 'escape' browsing our forum's Christmas inspiration albums and getting ideas. Never too early to start planning. LOL. I love decorating shows too, tho HGTV got rid of so many of the good ones and seems to prefer real estate ones most of the time. Bummer. Smart of you to tape shows last year to watch now. I'm looking at magazines I've saved from last Holiday season too. LOL, anything to escape the endless heat. hugs, Karen

In all honesty, I really, really can't stomach those movies, lol. But I hope that those who do like them get their fill!

I have a dear friend who watches the holiday moves as part of her pining away for what she thinks if the perfect life with the perfect holiday. I wish for her that she'd spend more time in the real world so that she could make her own happy ending instead of waiting for Hallmark to deliver it to her door. I enjoy holiday movies, but I do wish the holidays were not so stretched out like they are now. Makes them seem less special.

Guilty pleasure. I love treacly sticky ooey gooey Hallmark Christmas movies. They're like an antidote to all the edgy, serious, adult, important difficult stuff out there. Many of them are retreads of classic stories. Since I'm Jewish, the Christmas part isn't important to me, and if they don't line up with your ideas of Christmas I can see that they might not be such unalloyed spun sugar fun, but I like how the romances are happily into next week rather than ever after, and how goodness and light always win the day, and how helping others and being kind are the motivations and rewards. I don't pay a lot of attention (I rarely look at the screen for any TV shows), but I do find them very restful. ETA: There are also some melancholy and grown up ones. When I mentioned the sticky gooey ones, I didn't mean all of them were, just that I love those. I just saw an ad: There are supposed to be new ones every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 p.m., with several other scheduled showings.
