1950's "Little Chef" Toy Play Oven by Ohio Art Company. I had one and it made terrible cakes but everyone ate them. I think they used a light bulb to cook things. They came out before the Easy Bake ovens of the 1960's.

It was a treat to be allowed to listen to adult conversations
No one dared to make noise or speak when Gabriel Heater's evening news came on the radio.
Only theaters and better Dept. stores had A/C
A parent's "certain look" stopped poor behavior in it's tracks.
Getting legs switched when you got in BIG trouble (That's how I learned to dance, lol.)

1 cent postcards. My mom would park outside the post office, give me a dime and ask me to run in and get her 10 "penny postcards". My mom and her sister wrote each other most every day and post cards were cheaper than letters.

Great Shakes....you'd buy the mixing cup & the milkshake packets & mix with milk & Shake. Once, the cup broke open & we had chocolate milkshake wallpaper.

Soap Operas that were in Black & White & 1/2 hr long. (what a shock that must have been for those who used to listen to them on the radio)
