You'll do great, Jodi! Maybe after awhile you'll be able to work from home part of the time. Until you get back in the routine, getting up early will be a pain, but those paychecks will be good pain relievers. :-)

Good luck in the new job. I hope it turns out to be such a pleasant experience you won't miss those mid week jaunts, and maybe, just maybe you will become so indispensable they won't mind you working from home from time to time.

Terri, one of my clients made a part-time job feel like time and a half. He's a wee bit upset right now but understands why I had to take the job.

Susan, those paychecks are going to pay for some nice Canon lenses. :-) ... and probably an epidural or two. :-(

Forgot to mention ... the office is directly across the street from where I do many of my nature photography walks. It's where I took Casey_nfld when she came to visit a few years ago. I even pointed the building out to her during our walk there.

Terri, it's in Park Place, off the 405 freeway (very eye-catching because of the giant towers on the all glass building) at Jamboree, an exit or so south of John Wayne airport.

Here's a couple more photos that aren't so close up. All these buildings were built 35 years ago by Fluor Daniel, the company I used to work for.

WTW! Jodi, I am here holding a Western Digital ID card with my picture on it from 1973~~~dare it be the same company?? This one was on Red Hill, Newport Beach. It was a micro electronic place~~I worked there maybe 2-3 years. Moved on to Hughes Aircarft in Newport.

YL, yep, the same company indeed. They have been around here forever. I spent 19 years working for Digital Equip. Corp. (DEC) and everyone would confuse us with Western Digital, another high-tech company.

In 1973 I worked at the corner of Red Hill and MacArthur at a computer company called Microdata. Was there until I went to work for DEC in 1976.

Congratulations on getting a good job even though you're on the plus side of 50. You must be really good at what you do and have a good reputation. Hope all works out well for you.

I'm glad that you landed a job that high up in the organization. They make decent hard drives. I've used a number of WD hard drives in computers I've built - even had one as an external back-up storage.

The new 'cloud' storage is going to employ thousands of BIG drives.

Fran, you brought up something I neglected to mention. I'm amazed they would hire me at age 60. Even though I look younger, my years of experience tattle on me. I've been working longer than one of the managers who interviewed me I'm sure.

I actually applied for the job back in May and didn't hear anything from them until August. Then I was interviewed seven times by six different people. Followed by a complete background, previous salary and reference check. They are thorough and take their time, that's for sure.

I'll be preparing presentations for the top executives of the company and doing graphic design for the PR department. They wanted someone with a lot of experience working with execs, and I have, so it should work out good for everyone.
