What Time Is Your Usual Bedtime?

I am a more of an early to bed and early to rise person, I usually go to bed around seven or so and watch television for awhile and most of the time asleep by nine. I can't tonight as I have to give Harley some medication at 9. How about you, are you a night owl, or go to bed with the chickens?

I go to bed fairly early, about 9:00, but read for a couple of hours. Sometimes, the book hits the floor after only a short time of reading, though!

I'm definitely a night owl. It is usually well past midnight, into the wee hours of the morning when I head to bed. But I rise again around 7-8 in the morning.

Joy: The seller's name on the LA is Wormman20030, his actual name is Marvin Wilkins and he is from Falkner, Mississippi. I bought from two different vendors in February and March. Remember, I am in Texas and in February I am out in the garden while some of the rest of y'all are looking at snow. I knew they could not dig daylilies in snow and asked when they did ship, and they told me mid April which was fine with me. The other vendor send a beautiful shipment in April but I heard nothing from Marvin. I believe is was the beginning of May I sent him and email and he replied that he was a one man operation and would try to get to it the next week. Weeks went by, and nothing. I sent another email which was ignored. I finally got fed up, left negative feedback, and later took advantage of the mediating service at LA to request a refund. It is extremely hot here in Texas, too hot to plant. I continued to hear nothing from Marvin and wrote again to the LA. They said that Marvin had written them (but not me) and told them he was going to process a refund and all I had to do is provide a Paypal address. (Let me put in a plug for the LA mediating service here, I was upset, they were patient and understanding) I sent him my Paypal address and again, heard nothing. No emails, no explanation, no refund. I feel that from February to June is an unconscionable wait without explanation. If something was wrong, he could have emailed, he was well enough to email the LA, but has ignored me. The money is not a lot to some people, I understand that some people spend thousands on daylilies and I wish I could, but it is enough that I can't afford to buy more daylilies this year and of course even if I could, it is too hot to plant. I felt that since I have been talking about this incident it is only fair to mention the vendor's name. I would more than welcome him to come here and offer an explanation; as of now I have no explanation, no daylilies, and no refund. Some very nice people have taken their time to email me with the names of vendors who they feel have integrity; after getting over my initial hurt I think I will use the DA again but under the guidance of some of those more experienced. Some points were made that there are good, hardworking vendors that sell quality plants and I agree because the other vendor was like that, so my beef is not with the LA, it is with Marvin.

We're on the same wavelength. Instead of cleaning house, I've been sorting glass to try to see what I want to use with my china on my next mirror. I caught myself trying not to use some pretty colors that were more transparent 'cause I didn't want to have to deal with the clarity and bubbles and grout creep. I think I tested several adhesives before on really clear glass but do you think I wrote anything down or remember?

Corrugated cardboard - not your usual query!

I did a search and read up on the construction of corrugated cardboard. The three layers are actually produced completely separately, and brought together at a factory to be combined into the final product. The non-corrugated layers can be as simple or complex as needed to do whatever job is required. They could have printing, painting, or even a wax coating. The article did discuss the recycling process, and didn't comment on any difficulties with the cardboard itself, yet, just some trouble with gummy adhesives that are sometimes used and pressure sensitive label adhesives. So, I am betting you are running into a source of cardboard that is being manufactured in a less than ideally recyclable manner. Whether it is unsafe or breaking any laws, I can't say. My research was limited to the top article of a Google search. Is there any way you can trace where the pieces of cardboard came from? I wonder if they have resorted to disposing of it via the pet-bedding route because it couldn't be recycled using standard techniques. Interesting. Martha

I keep coming back to this thread. So many beautiful photos. I can't single anybody's out, but Ingrid, I agree with Marlorena and Sheila about your garden. Serene. I always drool over Hoovb's and Marlorena's gardens, but Nicholsworth55, your photo of your burning bushes, made me say "WOW" out loud. Most unlike this reserved Englishwoman. Are they Euononymus alatus? It has been a difficult 2 years here. First the broken leg with complications, which kept me from tending the garden all summer and autumn last year. This year, no rainfall to speak of meant that lots of plants simply didn't flower, or simply faded away. I am hopeful that next year will be good. Still. There are some things I am thankful for.... The new little mandarin tree, which has replaced an ancient orange tree, that died of old age. Fuchsia triphylla, which flowers year round. Lady Emma Hamilton and Sombreuil in the background. Always blooming Pelargoniums. Dead and non performing plants removed, ready for replanting. Always cheerful Bougainvillea in one of the apricot trees. Self seeded lavender. In the way, but I don't have the heart to remove it. Pretty Jessica. TBC

I'm never in bed before 11:00, but often not until 12 or 1 a.m. Up at 5:30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6:00 on Tuesday and Thursday, and sleep in until about 8 on Saturday and Sunday.

I'm usually asleep by 11:30 p.m. and awake by 5:30 a.m. Sometimes if it's a rainy weekend, I might lounge in bed a little longer in the morning.

I usually go to bed at 1 AM (never before Midnight), and get up at 8 AM...unless there's a reason to get up earlier. I take a 30-60 minute nap most afternoons.

anywhere from 11:30 to 1:30 and I usually am up at 7:00

And yes I sneak a nap sometimes during the day.

I will not go to bed until I can no longer keep my eyes open unless I'm not feeling well.

Most nights I go to bed between midnight and 1am and am up at 6am.

I am like old Ben Franklin, I have never sleep more than 5 hrs a day, and generally that is divided into two nap periods.

Jan & I were out on one of our Photo walkabouts today and between the two of us, we shot around 800 photos. Realizing it was a bit late to cook supper I opted to stop by the Colonel's and grab a bucket to go, finally arriving home about 7pm. Supper was finished about 7:45 so I laid down and took a nap till about 10pm, then I got up and immediately started editing the photos. It is now 12:42am and I just put my second pot of coffee on, so I expect I will be here editing photos until about 5am, then nap about 2 hours and we will be off again to see what the day brings.

What's great about being retired is that I can finally live in my biological circadian rhythm! Bed 2-3 am, up when I just wake up, around 9-9:30 am. I've always been a "night owl" trying to function in a "sparrow" world. And now I don't have to!

Another night owl going to bed WAY after midnight. I get five or six hours of sleep..need more. Too much to see and do and read.

I usually go up to bed about 11, put the sleep timer on for 2 hours , watch local news and as much Letterman as I stay awake for.

I'm awake around 5 or 6.

Between 11-12 usually - up between 6:30-7 during the week. No daytime naps for me since I'm not retired. I'm not a morning person so on weekends I get up between 8-9. I'd do better with 7-8 hours of sleep but being a night owl who has to get up and go to work in the morning that doesn't usually happen. Especially when I don't sleep soundly through the night.

Wow, I'm surprised at how little sleep most of you get...and envious! I'm one of those who needs her 8 hours. We usually hit the hay around 11, give or take half an hour, then I sleep until 7:30 or 8:00 if I don't have to work. My dh is such a lousy sleeper that he is always left with wanting more; on the weekends he will sleep in until 10 sometimes and then nap in the afternoon on top of that. It gets annoying to me, but I do feel sorry for him that his sleep is not good.

I think of all the things I could accomplish if I didn't need so much sleep!

Since March of this year my sleep patterns have been dictated by my lab puppy who is now 9 months old. My alarm clock is in the form of squeaky toys which usually start around 3am and will squeak until I get up, unfortuntely they have no off/snooze button. We start our day at 5am (much to my dismay). Even when I hide the toys, he still manages to find something that makes noise.

Went to bed in the wee hours of the morning today (3:30am) was up ready to go to work at 6am. I feel great today. Much better than I generally feel at our 10am Monday morning staff meeting. Tomorrow might be a different story though. :-)

Gary and I both work at 5 a.m. and never seem to have enough rest. We head up to be between 7:30 and 8:30 most nights. We have gotten into the bad habit of watching tv for a while after we go to bed, so I usually drop off to sleep in the 8:30 to 9 pm time range. I work from home so often take a 45 minute nap on my lunch break.

Usually well after midnight .. and get up when I fee like it, often 9 - 10 ...

... but I need all of the beauty sleep that I can get!

I usually go to bed around 10:30. I get up when my animals wake me up which is usually between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Like Joyful, I need my beauty sleep.

It is usually somewhere between 11:30 and midnight when I head for bed, sometimes a little later. Then I am up no later than 8 AM.
