Would this be inappropriate?

My husband's hunting buddies are coming to hunt next week. They stay with us a couple nights and have been doing this for about 10 years. I am around them about 4 or 5 times a year so know them fairly well. I just bought some of those fleece pajama type pants to wear in the morning before my shower. I asked my husband if he would be embarrassed if I wore them in the morning around his buddies. He said no but I don't know if I would or not. I worked for about half of those years so was dressed, one year I wore sweats but I think?? maybe my long fleece housecoat a couple times. Can't really remember. Would you be comfortable dressed in fleece pants with a regular top, and of course a bra, around two or three men. I still am on the fence about this.

lol...they're lucky if i had a bra on, lol..(just kidding)...you think some guys are bad? have you checked out wal mart lately??? i kid you not some gal and her 2 kids were going in ahead of me and she had on those loungers...

Columbus, I like how you flattened out your clapboard with the wedge of wood. I have to use that idea for my back porch/sun room, which is clapboards, where I want to attach some old plant holders. I kind of thought out how you would mechanize your doorbell. You're lucky, It's way more straightforward than mine. Mine has a lever that is pulled once, it springs back to the original position and you pull it again to re-ring the bell. I am in the middle of building a screen door for the front of the house and MAY incorporate the bell into that. The door is already about 70 pounds and I havent added any hardware (I know it's not 100% authentic ... I wanted something "secure" so I built it 1.75 inches thick like a regular door. Since the screen will be removable, Ill be able to swap in a sheet of plexi for winter, too. It looks like it's old if you dont consider how much thicker it is. Hey, then again, the neighborhood isnt as authentic as it was 120 years ago, either.)

What I've read about it says that because there were so many stitching lines so close together, the Log Cabin was difficult to quilt though. Pushing the needle by hand through multiple layers of fabric probably got old. That's the most likely reason that this pattern was tied, not quilted. The Log Cabin was usually sewn onto a backing fabric to keep the lines straight and the blocks squared up - an early version of paper piecing, without the paper! Thin, torn strips of fabric may have frayed easily, so by stitching them onto a backing it prevented the seams from pulling out. Kate

Oh, ouch, ouch. Tough spot, Ima. Sad to say I'd trust this young girl as about how far I could throw her. She has proven over and over again not to be trustworthy. On top of that, the kid is not near as 'street wise' as she'd like to think she is. She's a kid who normally lives a fairly well supervised safe little life. Kids tend to get in the frame of mind that nothing bad will happen to them. Maybe some other kid, but surely not them. If I were Dad, I'd hit the safety thing hard and heavy. Sure walking around town (whether in shorts/tank or a turtleneck/jeans) as young girls of their age is dangerous. Even if they think they are going to meet someone they know and trust, who knows what other person may intercept that meeting and do harm to them. How many young girls/teens go missing and are either never seen again or found dead...and all they were doing is going down the street to met a friend. Scary stuff out there. While you don't want to scare the kid to live her life as if evil lurks around every corner, well, in reality it can be. While SD is full of secrets and 'fun' plans to sneak off and meet a guy she knows and likes, she's not thinking of all the other facts tghat could happen. She's a kid, nothing can happen to her. It only happens to other kids, not her. Not her friend. Nope, they ar safe, they can handle themselves and nothing to worry about. And then yes, the very real thought that even if she survives the walks and sneaking around, there is the fear of pregnacy and STD. But of course she's not thinking about or worried about this either. She's 'all grown up', knows how to handle herself and well, that too only happens to other kids, not her. I get the thought lines of not wanting to encourage the kid to have sex. Not wanting them to thinkn you approve blah blah blah. But then one has to stop and wonder. If the girl is bent on doing what she pleases, lying about it, sneaking around and jumping in head first into going to do it like it or not, what other options does a parent have in trying to protect the child? I tend to think once a kid starts to show signs she is going to do this no matter what, the thoughts towards preventing it need to sometimes face reality too. Of course no parent wants their kid having unsafe sex, unprotected sex or sex period at that young age. Of course parents don't want to write the kid a 'free pass' to think they can do it 'heck mom/dad approve, even helped me do it safely'. But some parents come to the point where the parent has little choice. They either have to do all they can to protect the child or they have to keep turning that blind eye and praying their kid suddenly grows a brain, stops herself in time, develops a last second change of mind and/or survives the experience as intact as she was before the 'event'. Obviously the girl is not ready to be a mother. The girl likely is not even equating sex yet to motherhood, let alone some STD that could affect her the restg of her life. Nope, she's thinking like a 13 yr old with all the ability of a immature untrustworthy child bound to 'grow up' before her time. The BC is a choice your husband will have to make all on his own. he's going to have to sit down and talk to her one way or the other. Sometime I doubt he's looking forward to nor knows quite what to say. He's going to have to come to the conclusion that he is the responsible parent when it comes to his child and make a decision based on what he honestly believes is the right/best choice pertaining to the daughter. He can't count on BM to do it nor to supervise her. He can't count on SD to instantly take this all seriously and understand her actions could have great consequences attached. Any chance he can get through to BM that SD needs to stay home this summer, maybe go to summer school. Is BM in denial on the chances of what could happen this summer or is she just immune to caring? (not really in a she does not love the child but just naturally accepts it's ok for this behavior at this age) If BM thought she would get SD handed back to her to live 24/7 and raise (along with a possible grandchild or a STD infection or even a raped traumatized daughter)would she be open to discussing leaving the child home with Dad?

Funny this thread should surface now...we finally took the long-awaited "family photo" last Friday! I had them do a group photo of all of us, one of all 4 boys, then 1 of the 2 DSSs and 1 of our 2 DSs. I even ordered a 5 X 7 of DSSs for BM! I cannot imagine DH would ever go for a photo of us and our 2 DSs w/o the DSSs. I would feel guilty even for suggesting it. Planning is still a nightmare, even more so, as you may have seen from my recent posts. Just trying to get the picture in was a struggle, giving that BM kept changing when she wanted DSSs back from T'giving visitation (which by Ct. order was to last 'til Sunday but got cut short on Friday, another story!) DH is coming around to doing things like taking trips w/o the SKs but he is only willing to do that if it is unavoidable. That is the best I think I'm going to get. Also, for the question of why was DH checking DSS's e-mail. He was checking it b/c, suddenly a boy who has been nothing but talkative, outgoing and happy-go-lucky his entire life was quiet, withdrawn and like he was in pain the whole time he was around us. We feared he might be using drugs or involved in some other destructive behavior. I have always thought that good, caring parents keep tabs on their children in ways like that in times like that. I don't think 13 year-olds have an expectation of privacy when it comes to things like that. I would much rather find out if something is going on and have him upset that we snooped than remain in the dark and accept his blanket response of "nothing" every time he is asked what is wrong. I bet every parent of a child who has committed suicide has wished they had snooped a little more (recognizing that sometimes it would not have made a difference, but sometimes it might have.) I say that as an adult who attempted suicide as a teenager almost 30 years ago. I certainly wish my parents had paid more attention to what I was doing and how I was acting and had investigated it more. I thank God that I wasn't successful. I think DH did the right thing, and I will do the same thing with my DSs if the situation warrants it. I am no expert on this, but I do feel strongly that it was the right thing. However, I would be interested in hearing other opinions.

Inappropriate would be the lacy cami, thong undies and high heeled shoes you wear when just hubby's around. Not that I know inappropriate....*grin*

I absolutely think that's ok. I sure wouldn't leave the house in them; like the Walmart story, but I know a lot of people do these days. A bunch of my husband's buddies, in MY house, yes...that is very ok! You're a good wife, hostessing the hunting party! :)

considering what people wear out in public these days, (pajamas, slippers, no bra especially when they have the equivalent of "utters"), fleece pants are absolutely fine.

Are you worried about looking too informal, or are you worried about insinuating that you sleep? Just kidding. Sleepwear is to be expected in your home. sexy sleepwear... something else. Fleece is..."not"....sexy.

I'm trying to picture the difference between fleece pants and a track suit/track pants.

I wear yoga pants around the house, and if my neighbours or friends pop in, that's what they see. (all males). It doesn't bother me in the least. I have both lightweight and heavier weight yoga/track pants that I wear.

Thanks everyone. I WILL wear my fleece pants. I guess I'm just a little bit old fashioned or too modest maybe. They will be comfortable and warm. Thanks again. Oh! and dees I can't wear the high heeled shoes, they hurt my knees. *grin back*

In appropriate? Yes. I would say so. Those pajama type pants still look like pajamas. Not the way I would dress for company.

If you are putting on a top and bra, how much trouble would it be to put on a pair of jeans?

It's his hunting buddies, not the queen. You are fine in your pj pants. I live in pj pants around my house.

If I have people who stay the night at my house, of course they are going to see me in my pj pants at night and in the morning. And I will see them in theirs. No big deal.

Not inappropriate at all. Lingerie would be different, pj pants are fine.

Flannel pants would be fine. These men are your friends, they have visited your house before and unless they are skin tight butt huggers I see no problems with wearing them in the morning.

You say fleece - I'm having a hard time picturing fleece pants (although, I can't imagine that I'd think they are inappropriate). But do you mean flannel?

It is COMPLETELY appropriate & given that are are even thinking about it - do not worry. If you have coffee and food for them - no worries at all!

Make sure you brush your teeth & fix your hair - a little.

Are these guys going to be walking around in their sweats or pjs first thing in the morning? Are they going to be able to resist burping, farting, and scratching around each other for a few days? Seems like everyone is comfortable with each other so I say wear what you have planned. I don't think they will care.

No Suzieque, they are not flannel. Flannel would be cotton I think and these are a brushed polyester. They are called microfleece and are so soft and warm. Imagine a baby's blanket. littlebit, they are not skin tight butt huggers, LOL, in fact they are a bit loose. I really think I know these guys good enough that they won't care if I wear them. Just wanted a little feed back from you all. Thanks.

I suspect that you are going to be self conscious about wearing these pj bottoms. You've asked your husband, you've polled us....but the very fact that you felt the need to ask speaks volumes to the fact that you aren't going to feel comfortable. I'd suggest that you pull on your clothes in the morning so you can be yourself.

Yes, times and fashions change; it doesn't mean we have to be lemmings and follow the crowd. 1940? Pajamas were made to sleep in; I don't know how they morphed into casual outdoor, or indoor, wear. My opinion stands; no, it would not be appropriate. Friends, father, brothers, any males, no. All girls, sure, pajama parties are old hat.

Glad I could give you something to laugh about though. I enjoy making people laugh.
