This is a difficult time for you, and you do need to share it somewhere. It helps. I'm sure DH would much rather be helping than hurting. I'm sorry it's so hard.

Could you call the high school and get a student or two to come help pack? Even for a few hours. It really sounds like a huge job for one person. DH would feel better knowing you had some help.

Oh My...what a huge job you have ahead of you. I know that you will get it all done. Remember...baby steps. Let us know how you are doing with all of it.

Do you have a church? Don't be afraid to ask for help. How about a Boys Club in the area? How about a Boy Scout Troop? Call and see if there's a badge they could be working on where a 'good deed' will benefit you both.

Marion, Here's a hug and a prayer that you will find the strength to do what has to be done. It is a lot to do for 2 people let alone one. I'd say the advice to call the high school, church and the Scouts is good advice. Best of luck to you. I'll be looking for updates to see how you are doing.

Wished I could help you, as ret. army wife I have the experience of moving alone. As sooey said, one step by one step and a marker in every room. It helps if you know what is in ea. box, especially if you packed something which you need now.

Wow...too much on your plate for sure. Sending Hugs and good thoughts that you will find help and strength soon. I have a very painful back and trouble with my legs, but during our last move I was able to contribute by doing a huge amount of packing while sitting down. Had grandkids (and anyone who dropped by) bring lots of stuff to the dinning table where I wrapped and labled everything I could. Feeling "useful", even while sitting with leg elevated could make a world of difference.

Marion, your life as you once knew it must seem like it is spinning of control and it's not your fault. Illness has a way of impacting everyone and everything. And it matters not whose illness it is.

There is so much going on in your life and you have a right to be feeling as you do. Take things slow, but not so slow you can't get packed up. Ask for help, come here and vent, listen to calming music, smile at little things, and make sure you take care of yourself.

Sometimes focusing on small baby steps makes the larger picture less overwhelming.

and lastly, I hear you .....husbands can be cranky even on the best of days. lol. But can't we all. Hang in there.

I don't really have any good advice except maybe move a room at a time and a few boxes at a time. The easiest move I've ever made (and I've made lots of moves lol) was by moving one room at a time.

Pack everything up in the kitchen take it all over to your new place and unpack it, then return with the empty boxes and start on the next room.

Thank you all for the hugs, prayers and good thoughts. It means alot to know that you are all rooting for us.
The last year has been so draining. Between DH's health, a business we should have closed (but we're too stubborn to give up) and we moved our business in May with the help of our customers. Facing foreclosure has been a frightening experience. Thank heaven one of customers is a Realtor and has experience with short sales. He priced the house to sell, but he didn't expect the mortgage co. to act so quickly! WHAT! We have to be out by the 29th to close on the 30th.
I've always been the one to lend a helping hand to family and friends. The family (cousins) all lives in New England so relying on friends is getting to me. I'm tired of feeling so needy and asking for favors.
My FL Gardening friends have offered help to foster my plants and take care of packing up the tools.
One of our customers has volunteered to round up help move the furniture.

They say a journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step. I think we'll be fine as soon as we figure out where we are going to move to.

Life is certainly asking a great deal from you right now.
A couple of thoughts; men often after heart attacks. Has your husband been screened for depression?
Sounds to me like it may be less stressful to set him in his favorite room with some books and the TV whilst you pack in a different room. Being a caretaker is exhausting even with the best patient. You need a break, even if it is a few hours in another room.
If I were in the same town, I'd help pack. For some reason packing oneself can be overwhelming, but packing for others is easy, because there is none of the emotional baggage.
Don't be afraid to ask for help and I just know you are going to feel better when the stack of boxes starts to grow.

If i lived closer i'd come help also.We were career military,so moved a lot,so i know how to pack.LOL

Also check with your local senior center,they have some healthy seniors that help others out,at least ours does.

Watching the mortgage problems on TV scares me enough, having a friend go through it is another matter completely. I too am sorry you are going through this and wish I could help.

I truly understand and am sending a HUGE HUG!! I'm sitting here thinking that if I don't find a job soon I'll need to pack up - alone as well. This would be a big problem for me, but you have some real challenges with DH's health. I really had not thought about checking with the schools for help. Not sure if the schools would be willing to allow this because of insurance reasons, but it still sounds like a grand idea if the parents would be willing to agree. They might agree to help as well.
