We have online grocery shopping here too. I used to order my groceries from Albertsons. I ordered everything thru them. I got the best of the produce and the best of the meat, probably because they wanted to keep people ordering online. They would bring it into my kitchen if I asked, but I always just had them deliver it to the garage, since I had cabinets out there for food storage, along with the extra refrigerator/freezer and freezer. I did this when I was working 60-80 hours a week. I detest grocery shopping and have often thought of going back to ordering online...but we live just 3 blocks from the grocery store and I would feel lazy doing so. :) However, they are "reorganizing" the Albertsons...and it really drives me crazy trying to find things. It sure is tempting. The site says no tipping...but I did anyway...and the driver always appreciated it.

I have been shopping online for ~10 yrs. The deals in the early days (1998-2001) were crazy. This was back when Amazon only sold books. Anyhow, I started shopping online because I was a single parent and had two small children. So it was a great convenience for me. I have bought almost everything you can online. Buying online now is almost second nature now and probably spend more than 10k a year online. I now buy online because of cost, convenience, availibility. I pay with CC for everything and haven't had any problems for 8 yrs. In the early days, I had people get a hold of my CC numbers and charge stuff. The CC companies took care of everything without much hassle. Technically, I don't know if the info was stolen online or from a local store. I wish the online grocery stores made a comeback. I would love the UPS guy to delivery the kitty liter, rock salt, soda, etc, while I just pick up the perishables. The best deals were probably in the early days with many items free with rebates and promotional codes, mostly computer or electronic items. The biggest amount saved would have to be on the biggest ticket items, furniture, hardwood flooring and other home improvement items, typically saving 20-50%. It also seem the higher end items have the greatest potential for the biggest % savings. I have had at least a dozen transactions over $1k.

My online shopping was all good: Kohl's, Best Buy, LL Bean, Land's End, Amazon and Ebay. I have my items sent to work as our neighborhood has sadly had things stolen from porches. There were some things I ordered late and they have not arrived yet - but I knew the dates were post-Christmas when I ordered. Only one is a semi-gift (a jacket for my husband who lost a lot of weight and needs one in a smaller size). The upside of those is that I'm shipping them to Son#1's place of work, as I won't be back to my own job for a couple of weeks. So we're going to meet him for dinner once he has both my orders. Katlan's rude checkout clerk reminded me of my rude clerk story from several years ago. I was buying Christmas ornaments to decorate a metal tree I'd gotten from a specialty store. The sum total was probably more than I'd spent for the tree itself. I was buying a couple of other things too. As the clerk was ringing the things up we realized that there was something wrong with one of the boxes I was buying. The clerk ended up being really rude about it. We finished the purchase with the plan that I would go way back to the seasonal section to get another box - even the cashier manager had come over to help because she heard the rude cashier. However, after starting to walk back to switch the boxes, instead I turned around and went over to customer service and told them I wanted to return everything. Everything?! Yes. I said that the clerk had been really rude and and that made me mentally step back and realize that I was overspending. Customer service wanted to know who the clerk had been, but I said that I understood that it's the stressful Christmas shopping season and I didn't want to point her out, but just wanted my money back. (I ended up getting the tree ornaments from Joanne Fabrics and used some JF Bucks I had to pay!) I guess a thank you to the rude clerk for helping me to spend less?

Not sure if I've plugged them before but I am a very happy repeat customer of Brooklyn Bedding. Their signature hybrid mattress is the one I like, with my preference the soft (they also have medium and firm). I think we've gotten 3 or 4 of them over the years and absolutely LOVE the product. Service is also top notch. I bought a king size for our guest apartment, let it sit in the box till literally the day before the 120 night warranty expired, called and the company cheerfully picked it up and credited my payment. No muss, no fuss. Buying tip: they do 25% off sales for every holiday, so check in for that lower price if you are interested in purchasing.
