My name is Tara. We live in Florida, and I Homeschool my two boys. Last year, I was a fifth grade teacher at a public school, so my world has really changed. Oh, and we moved this summer. :0)

'You obviously do your research which I appreciate and certainly understand.' I try .. I try .. try not to be a big burden to you. I know I'm a burden.. just try to keep it as tiny as possible... glad you've noticed :) 'What more can I say?' since you've asked :) Reviews for AmStd in Furnacecompare are mostly negative! is the mold problem mentioned here related to being in different regions in this country or possibly a faulty installation? your input would be greatly appreciated. http://www.furnacecompare.com/heat-pumps/american-standard/reviews/3/ "Installers just left our house. They cleaned our units and politely informed us that we had a mold problem. We needed to purchase the uv light units to kill the mold. They would cost $500 each and we needed two of them and the lights needed replaced every two years and they cost $100 each.wow, what a nice surprise since my wife has been complaining of an upper respiratory ailment for the last month. We were fed a story that these new, top of the line units were so efficient that they ran slower and more humidity was extracted from the air and more moisture built up inside them than in the cheaper units. This of course led to the mold problem. I wish I had seen these reviews prior to our purchase and I hope that I can spare someone else from getting urned. We were told by our installers that these units were the best out there and they were the absolute top of the line. From what I am reading and from our experience, I don't think so!!!!!!!" " I AM A CONTRACTOR IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS . I INSTALLED AN 18 SEER HEAT PUMP SYSTEM IN MY HOUSE IN 2006 AND CHANGED IT OUT IN 2010 . I HAD AN ACCU-CLEAN AIR FILTER SYSTEM ON IT WITH A GUARDIAN UV LIGHT (AROUND 1500.00) INSTALLED WITH THE SYSTEM AND WHEN I OPENED UP THE AIR HANDLER , I FOUND A LARGE AMOUNT OF MOLD IN THERE . MAYBE THAT WAS WHY MY WIFE HAD CONSTANT HEADACHES IN THE HOUSE OR WHY MY 9 NINE YEAR OLD WAS ALWAYS SNEEZING . I TAKE NOTE OF OTHER SYSTEMS I WORK ON AND AMERICAN STANDARD/TRANE UNITS SEEM TO BE THE WORST I HAVE SEEN . PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON YOUR EQUIPMENT AND PLEASE DOUBLE YOUR RESEARCH ON YOUR CONTRACTOR . HE MAKES MORE OF A DIFFERENCE THAN ANY BRAND OR PIECE OF EQUIPMENT . GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS"

long winded! cork floor in a resale

LoveInTheHouse, thank you for the link. This is actually fun (although I'm going cockeyed with all of the options available today). My experience with hw-floors was in houses built in the mid- to late-1800s. Those babies got paste waxed and buffed. And the "King's Planks" were upstairs, at least hand-length width. GreenDesign, yes, this is more "entry" and young family neighbourhood. So not upscale or posh-posh ;-) A decided step up from govt quarters and apartments, though. The main lvl is 680-sq' total. Hopefully not 10-grand for hw-floors. Then again it really depends upon manufacturer/grade/etc. Believe it or not, that's why we didn't upgrade to premium counter tops and kept Formica...not saying "entry" buyers wouldn't appreciate it, they would. They might be off-put at a perceived higher asking price and shy away. GaOnMyMind, this area you would NOT believe the massive growth! DeWitt Army Hospital reopened after its expansion and BRAC is bringing many commands into the area. New subdivisions are popping up like proverbial mushrooms. That's our main concern with a resale...comparison with new build. We're cleaning, painting, and refreshing. Not upgrading per se, just making the property sparkle and nicer than the average "entry level". Plus with 2040-sq' living area, the house is larger than many others. Another plus is back yard is 19x20, a good size in a townhouse. WooHoo, off to look at hardwood flooring! I'll undoubtedly be back with more inane questions and prattling. Thank you ALL for helping :-)

He was probably making a point that it's hard to overdose on organic feedings as the plant takes in only what it needs. If you use urea, the plant is going to get an immediate kick of nitrogen right then, whether or not it was looking for some. Ask your sod farm what it recommends for the amount of nitrogen in a late spring feeding for your grass. You're getting 1/3 lb/k of nitrogen from the cracked corn in April. The July corn will give you another 1/3 lb. Both of them will be slowly available over a few months. Is that enough? Mention your fungal issues. If they say you need more in late spring, you can act accordingly. You just don't want to overdo it. That corn does supply some nitrogen. I applied some cracked corn myself this week (25 lb/k which should be about 0.4 lb/k N which is plenty for my tttf). It is getting hot and humid here already and I have had brown patch in past years. I hadn't thought too much about what I was going to do for fertilizer in May and your mention of the corn reminded me that I might combine a fungal preventive measure with a feeding.

Congratulations on your new house! The first thing that caught my eye is that you have a lot of windows so you’ll have plenty of natural light. That will work well with the farmhouse look. This house has lots of possibilities, but I would suggest you focus first on figuring out your budget and then decide what your first priority should be. Houses always need repairs you don’t expect, so keeping some extra money in savings is more important than getting the decor perfect right away. You can use the idea book feature here or a Pinterest board to gather inspiration pics if you haven’t already. Then as you make each decision you can plan it to fit into your big picture. For instance, I really like Hallet’s idea that you could paint the ceilings and trim. But some farmhouse looks have bright white trim and some have a light greige or other neutral and then bright white walls. If you think through which you’d prefer now then you won’t find yourself stuck later after spending time and money on the wrong option. I didn’t see anything in your original post about needing wedding ideas, so I’m not really sure why the timing of the wedding is important. :)

Welcome from central Indiana Tara. It is good to have you join us. I am one of the "older ones" here. We live in the country and I love it. All four of our children live fairly close to us. We are expecting a new grand baby the end of March, we are all so excited about it. I home schooled our youngest. My little gal that keeps me company is Izzi my red Pomeranian. Don't forget to bring the chocolate!

Hey, what better way to become well known here than to 'stir up a little trouble'?! I'm Shirley, retired from paying teachers their paychecks for 25 yrs and managing their benefits. For the most part, all of them liked me. lol I live in the eastern part of Ohio.

If you're any good at baking, I'll take some brownies with nuts.

Hi Tara. A hearty welcome from VA. I just joined in January and have been enjoying my time here. My kids are all grown and only a recent step grandchild, so Georgy (a one year old goldendoodle) is like a grand baby replacement to me.

Hi there living the life of Riley ... from Ireland? ...

... but transplanted to FL.

Another offer of greetings from Southern Ontario.

I'm an old guy renting a house on a sod farmer's farm, which used to be my uncle's, about 25 km. (15 mi.) from town, and I have a large garden.

Couple of kids - grown and gone ... no grandkids (and the former ex-wife is the permanent gone).

I'll share in the chocolate - gladly.

Hope you enjoy your stay ... you'll find some wisdom, friendship and a few laughs around the table.

ole joyful

P.S. If you lookk hard ... you might find some "repairers of trouble".
