Tacos? You like them?

Our local bbq restaurant has Taco Day every Tuesday, with variations of tacos.

I enjoyed, today, fried catfish filet tacos topped with their delicious cole slaw, homemade tartar sauce and a wedge of lime for squeezing over the fish.

Had two and soooooo good!

Tacos are one of my favorite things! I love them but generally stick with the normal regular kind. But I sure would give those a try on that list you posted.
I also love a big bowl of freshly made guacamole, it they offer the made at the table guac I always order it.

I grew up eating tacos and tortillas, but not from fast food restaurants. Here in L.A., I like El Abajeno in Mar Vista (typical family style Mexican), and there are plenty of regional Mexican restaurants here (especially Oaxacan) that I like, and even a couple of Yucatecan restaurants. Yucatecan food is my favorite in Mexico, and Oaxacan (especially in Oaxaca) is low on the list, but I'm able to find some exceptions. MacArthur Park is a good place to find tamales, and there are several local companies that make gourmet tamales that I like, but they can get expensive. I don't know that much about Taco Bell, except that it began in California and I think has food that is similar to Tex-Mex. Growing up in Texas I went to locally owned Mexican restaurants - I don't remember chain Mexican restaurants from when I was a child, but that was forever ago. Around here they make a different kind of Taco Salad for large gatherings. 1 lb ground beef 1 onion, chopped 1 pkg taco seasoning 1 can kidney beans small can olives 1 chopped tomato 1 head lettuce, shredded 1 large bag Dorito's - Nacho flavor, crushed 1 bottle Catalina or Thousand Island dressing 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. Brown hamburger and onion. Add taco seasoning according to mix directions. In a LARGE bowl mix seasoned beef, beans, olives, and tomato. Right before serving, mix in lettuce, Doritos, and cheese. This is really good and is great for a crowd.

My husband makes the best french fries. He cuts the russet potatoes in rounds....doesn't peel them. Then he cuts them in sticks, so they are about the size and thickness of my little finger. He has a pot of oil, and he dumps them all in at once...which tends to cool the oil a bit, but when the oil reheats and they finish frying, it is like they have been fried twice, which is the real way to make french fries. You fry them, drain them, and then fry them again. They are lightly crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I used to always cut my french fries length ways, but after seeing how he does it, I changed to his way. His still taste better than mine. I am another one who loves an electric skillet. I don't think I have ever fried potatoes in one, but I like frying chicken it better than I do using cast iron. And I have over 100 pieces of cast iron cookware. Or, did have. I have given a lot of it away.

My SIL had Cinco de Mayo dinner for about 12 last night + one three year old who was very social and fun - daughter of a younger couple they had just met who had moved into the neighborhood. Stick on moustaches and straw sombreros. A warm bean dip, pico de gallo, salsa, chips. She served her mock chicken enchilada casserole (that I find acceptable but not wonderful). Carne asada (Costco's pre-marinated) with a make your own fajita bar, rice, refried beans. A blackberry dessert (mine), margaritas. I really enjoy Hispanic foods, this was not the best. But lots of fun, lots of laughing so all in all a good evening.

Love them! I first had a fish taco in California in vacation. Around here (Long Island) most tacos are Mexican, with meat, cheese, salsa the main ingredients.

I have had fish tacos--not bad, but different that the ""real"""ones with shredded beef, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, olives, guacamole or sliced avacodos and homemade salsa sauce.

I've had grilled talipia tacos, but I truly enjoy jim 'n nicks fried catfish taco.

Several bbq restaurants have followed jim 'n nicks, and have their own taco days. Most with bbq pork.

Don't eat tacos but then again I don't eat much. I am a very fussy eater but I love to cook for everyone

I will eat tacos but sure not my favorite food. Never had a fish taco, sounds strange.

Definitely not Mexican tacos.

They are really catching on at the bbq restaurants here.

I LOVE tacos. I'd eat them for breakfast. Ground or shredded beef, grilled steak for the meat filling, chicken, doesn't matter to me. With the fish though, I find they are usually served in soft taco shells and I like crispy, especially with a 'softer' filling like fish. The time I enjoyed them the most, the owner/cook at a local restaurant catered a home party for a friend, and he cooked the fish in a crunchy crispy batter, then served that with pico de gallo (more texture/crunch there) in the soft taco...that one I liked.

Yep, the restaurant serves the tacos in a soft shell. And the catfish is crispy, yumm!

My favorite tacos are "puffy tacos." The shells are made with masa harina...like you'd use for tamales. When fried, they puff up. Flour tortillas will puff up some too, when fried, but these are much lighter and crisper. The Krogers here sell masa tortillas. That makes it much easier to make them because when I made them myself, I had trouble making the tortillas, although I can make flour tortillas. I don't think I'd care for fish or shrimp tacos. I like traditional ground beef that I cook with bell peppers, onions, and cumin seeds.
