Question for those in the Card Exchange

I have been sent an email from a very new member. She emailed me the same day she joined the garden web. She would like to be included. I have thought long and hard about this. I just sent her an email requesting that she post and introduce herself, and ask all of you who have signed up if you would be willing to include her. I didn't want to make her feel unwelcome, but I also didn't want a problem with someone so new joining and having some of you upset. I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Please reply to this if you are willing to have RileyIreland from FL join the exchange, or be willing to exchange with her on your own.

I really enjoy organizing this, but don't like this part of it. And it seems we get lots of new members this time of year. I leave this up to you.

    I'd rathe not have a very new (same day member) join. If she wants cards - as you say - let her post and then people can get in touch with her via her page info JMHO

    I agree with you Tami,, we do need there permission to leave the names in, but in a separate column. You should have the email to you directly, to protect you and others. Marie

    Got mine, thank you. I don't know when this was listed but here's a idea. The post office weighs packages by the ounce. Calculate your postage rate using the international postage price calculator. For a first-class letter to Canada, the first ounce of postage costs 85 cents, a two-ounce letter costs $1.17 and a three-ounce letter costs $1.49, as of the time of publication.

    I would prefer not to have my full name and address sent to someone who is not known on this forum.

    Riley....once we get to know each other, I will feel differently, i'm sure. It's just too soon.

    Well, she's been a member since the 19th, so it's not the same day! Anyway, how well do we actually know each other, regardless of how long we've been posting? Oh, I know some great friendships have been made, but I mean generally speaking.

    I think it would be nice, if she gave us a bit of her background--hobbies, family etc. Even if we never meet people on this forum, just us posting gives us some knowledge. We have been getting a lot of new members, which is very good, but again we do have to be alert to how we release our names and addresses etc.

    I did the exchange for a couple years, but gave it up. I just didn't feel comfortable putting my address out. Same day request, I am saying no.

    I don't have any major problem with it. Everybody had good points about it though. Whatever you decide is ok with me.

    Ok, here is what I will do. I will make up a seperate list for Tara, and add her name to those on her list. Will that work for everyone? Tara? What do you think? That doesn't leave you out, but makes the others more comfortable, also.

    I will send to Tara too.... after selling on Ebay for years, and having our address out there all over the place, I am not too concerned.... We are protected by two dawgs... and Smith and wesson... lol

    Jannie, are you saying you will exchange with Tara?

    I now know why I had some on the list and some not. I totally forgot that I saved my list to a flash drive before we went on vacation. I was working off of two seperate lists that didn't match!!!! It's now all fixed. I have gone thru both lists, corrected and re-saved. They now match.! Sorry for all the confusion. That is why Ont_gal didn't find herself on the list and mrsmarv wasn't on the list.

    We now have 37 on the list counting me!!! If we get 3 more we will have 4 groups of ten and at least 16 signed up to exchange with rileyireland (Tara)

    Thank you all who have helped me keep track. And thank you to those who have extended a hand to Tara.
