My stay at home lunch was yucky yucky yucky!

That store bought take home to bake meatloaf was the pits.

My navy beans weren't good, and sweet potato was stringy.

So enlighten me with your delightful meal of the day, today, please!

I love meatloaf sandwiches, so try that. Cold sliced slab of meatloaf, lots of ketchup and your favorite bread.

We are having pasta but later in the day. Glenda, how could you have bad navy beans. Southern girls can cook beans in a standing up sound asleep totally dark room...Whats up? I hate stringy sweet potatoes too....Next time you should just make your own meatloaf...you probably can do one with out even thinking about it can't cha?

Lately, I have been using a different approach to my harvesting. I am only removing the castings themselves, not the compost. A couple days ago I decided to harvest my EH's. Partially to see how many worms I had in that bin as I had selected the parent colony from a bin I had mistakenly mixed with red wigglers. Also my 11 year old nephew has been staying with me and I'm trying to keep him busy with little projects that might teach him something. (better than the TV and video games he prefers). We dropped the contents a couple handfuls at a time onto a 1/2 inch screen. We broke up larger lumps by hand. Anything that did not pass that screen went straight back to the bin with the worms. The smaller stuff was pretty damp and tended to clump a little like Random describes, so I let it sit for a day or so stirring it occasionally. At first glance most of it looked like excellent compost. Certainly better than some of the stuff from my regular bins. Looking closer I could see alot of paper and undigested stuff. It was still pretty damp when we (nephew mostly) ran it through the collander. The result was almost entirely castings. This I saved back and am using for tea, which I brew continually. I have about 3/4 gallon stored. I find that I am feeding alot less now mainly because I am re-processing alot of what goes through my bins. The same thing applies to my flow thru's. I started having more undigested stuff many more worms come out the bottom as I was harvesting too fast. I needed the castings for tea but now that I have 'caught up' I am letting it sit longer. I am only feeding to keep the bins full. The remainder of my scraps/garbage goes into an outside compost bin. Like alot of you, I try to reuse or compost everything that I can. The garbage guy and recycle company picks up only the stuff that I can not process myself.

I think some retailers may assume RCS has convection,maybe Canadian/Costco version is different and does have convection. Last time I saw a RCS in the store(about two years ago)it did not have convection. I can see why someone who owned both a RNB and Culinarian would claim a superior perspective on which is better. Not someone who just own's one. Naturally you want to self justify your purchase and may be prone to becoming a cheerleader for one or the other. I don't own either,sell one or the other,nor anyway connected to the appliance industry. But I have used both now. And I like the Culinarian better.

Speaking of ribs we ate at a restaurant in Pierre today. I had bbq ribs. With the 7 ribs I had I got a side of broccoli and a small scoop of mashed potatoes, with a dinner roll without butter for on it. I dunked my roll in the gravy. I am cook in a small town restaurant and we charge 6.00 for what I had with coffee or ice tea. I paid 9.99 for this today and when I dish up an order I put twice as many potatoes on as they did. People still complain about our prices. That is mostly locals though. Travelers cannot believe how cheap our prices are.

I've heard the hahnii's are difficult for some and no problem for others and wondered which one am I? And why is that? I hope your coworker sheds some light on this, I'm so curious. I seem to remember Norma Lewis quoted as she can't grow them either.

Well, the disposal had the rest of the meatloaf, too awful to have a sandwich with it.

Being as I eat out every day, I don't have ingredients to do home cooked meals, so that's why I bought that meatloaf.

And I don't know how old those beans were :o)

I do know how to cook up a good meal when family comes, but that is NOT OFTEN!

May have to hunt up some peanut butter!

Tonight I'm having rotisserie chicken. I make my own from a whole chicken and my Showtime rotisserie. I stuff the cavity with cut up apple and onion, and let it go for 90 minutes. Also a nice salad-bagged lettuce, strawberries, blueberries and canned drained mandarin oranges, with a raspberry vingraitte dressing.

Not much inspiration here. Trying a new recipe for impossible salmon-asparagus pie. After last night's corned beef/potato disaster, you'd think I'd fix something T&T, but I'm tired of eating the same old, same old. It got rave reviews on the Bisquick recipe site, but I'll let you know later.

We are having taco salad for dinner. It is one thing picky eater son will eat . He shys away from anything green, but eats the lettuce and(some) tomatoes.

Well Glenda..should've come by..I made biscuits and sausage gravy...I had a fried egg over mine..The big boy had two biscuits split and a pile of gravy over each piece......

The Daddy doesn't like gravy on biscuits, only rice..so he had his usual scrambled eggs with American Cheese and Chile Pepper Sauce in them..Then 2 homemade english muffins and 2 sausage patties...

I haven't cooked anything else yet..Dinner..don't know yet...
I've got Ground Turkey, Ground Turkey Breast, Turkey Italian Sausages in the fridge...(Turkey was on sale this week!) LOL
We may just have gyoza and fried rice...hmmmm......I really don't know!

You poor love...come eat with me.

I'm grilling rib eye steaks, baked potatoes and a salad. Cream cheese pound cake with strawberries/whipped cream on top. You are more than welcome to come share!

We're going to my DD's...Our 2 grand daughters are home from college for the weekend and I'm so excited about seeing them...Haven't a clue what she's cooking, but I do know she baked pumpkin pie...

We had lunch at the Czech Festival in my little town today. Very good brisket and sausage, a different-from-Texas kind of BBQ sauce on both, pinto beans (again different from what I'm used to), cole slaw and potato salad. Yum!

C'mon up to the cold north . . . my oven is full with: pork chops, scalloped potatoes and butternut squash . . . can't ya smell it? Only 3 eating here tonight so there will be lots of leftovers, which I LOVE :)

I grilled my Yankee chicken outside today-it was breezy & a nice day! Also made mac salad, baked beans & gingerbread w/lemon sauce.
Good thing the Rays ballgame is in Chicago right now-it is pouring here in St Pete area!!

okay so Duan decided he wanted something "meatier" than turkey..LOL (we had turkey last night anyway..LOL)
So we picked up 2 ribeyes and some hotdogs for the boys while in town.
He and the boys had french fries with theirs..and I had some left over mashed spuds from lastnight, and a fresh made salad..I have half my ribeye left to go over more salad tomorrow for lunch..
I'm looking forward to that even though my tummy is stuffed!

Ya know Glenda..anytime you want to take one of those trips you like to plan..... over this way..you are always WELCOME!!!

We all went to my mom's today (in celebration of three birthdays). We had ham, potato salad, a big pot of vegetable soup, cornbread, baked beans, potato salad, carrot cake, Karo Nut Pies, carrot cake and banana pudding. It was all great and even better cause we were all together.

Yours HAS to be better than mine :o(
