Hope your ribs were better than mine!

I usually get a rib sandwich with 3 bones, and don't eat the bread.

The ribs are always good, but NOT today.

This place is one of the most popular bbq places around, but they had to have precooked them a lot earlier, due to the holiday, cause they were dry and not that freshly off the grill kind of good.

Always go thru the drive-thru and take home.

Ate them anyway!

Sorry your ribs weren't good. Too bad you don't live closer. We're having grilled chicken and I made a lot of it. I'll put the leftovers in the freezer and just have to nuke it when we want it. Makes firing up the grill worth while.

Last year was a poor year for my butterbeans, and my eggplant as well. Those of us in the North and Northeast had heavy rains in late May & early June which delayed planting, and there seemed to be some other factor at work... perhaps more cloudy days in early summer. There were many threads on GW last year regarding difficulty with eggplant... and since both eggplant & limas prefer similar conditions, perhaps the problems were at least partially climate-related. I don't know if Atlanta experienced those rains last year, but they could have been a factor... if they delayed planting. Did the butterbeans flower earlier, but not set pods? If so, excessive heat may have caused blossom drop. I also agree with Sandy, when someone talks of "beautiful plants" but no pods, the first thing I suspect is too much nitrogen present in the soil. Any combination of these (and other factors) may have caused the poor yield. Of course, this was also a new variety... perhaps it simply was not adapted to your conditions, or was weak by nature (like one large lima that I tried last year). Have I got you thoroughly confused yet? ;-) Hopefully something here will ring a bell.

This thread is making me so happy I saved this Krossa Regal. For years the poor thing languished in a dry spot. I kept reading all these glowing reports about that particular hosta, and looked at my pathetic specimen. I thought it must have been mislabeled. A couple of years ago I noticed it had diminished so badly the leaves were the size of teaspoons. So finally I decided to do something about it. Honestly I felt like it was a waste of time. The roots were so tiny. But I potted it up and cared for it and put it back in the ground in a much better spot for the winter. Then last year we were having construction done and I had to dig it up again. It spent the winter in a pot sunk in the garden. I have now planted it in a good spot, I hope. This is what it looks like now.

"...My question is 'Why are nurseries selling them?'..." Yes, that is a question many of us ask about many plants, unfortunately. Of course, it always seems to be some of the most beautiful plants that are invasive. I do have some golden creeping jenny, which is supposed to be less aggressive, and it is in a small patch of ground about five feet by 2.5 feet, surrounded by the patio, a sidewalk, and the driveway, and I still keep an eye on it! Such a beautiful ground cover, though... There is a geranium that supposedly does well in dry shade... maccorhizum?? maculatum?? I think maccorhizum and maybe someone can help me out with the name. And if you are looking for a groundcover, it seems myrtle grows everywhere and anywhere! I've never actually planted it, and frankly pull it out by the handfuls every year, so maybe it's not a good thing to recommend, but perhaps something for you to research. I see you responded on the swap thread - do some research and then ask for things at the swap. You never know what people are giving away! Well Glenda..should've come by..I made biscuits and sausage gravy...I had a fried egg over mine..The big boy had two biscuits split and a pile of gravy over each piece...... The Daddy doesn't like gravy on biscuits, only rice..so he had his usual scrambled eggs with American Cheese and Chile Pepper Sauce in them..Then 2 homemade english muffins and 2 sausage patties... I haven't cooked anything else yet..Dinner..don't know yet... I've got Ground Turkey, Ground Turkey Breast, Turkey Italian Sausages in the fridge...(Turkey was on sale this week!) LOL We may just have gyoza and fried rice...hmmmm......I really don't know!

I cooked ribs and they were delish..also made potato salad!
I ate so many I didn't have room for watermelon, so I am on my way to the kitchen now to cut it and chow down.
Sorry yours wasn't as good as you expected them to be.

Never heard of the Shed!

Full Moon is where I go for ribs, and always good, except for today. They just cooked ahead of time for the big numbers they would have today.

Speaking of ribs we ate at a restaurant in Pierre today. I had bbq ribs. With the 7 ribs I had I got a side of broccoli and a small scoop of mashed potatoes, with a dinner roll without butter for on it. I dunked my roll in the gravy. I am cook in a small town restaurant and we charge 6.00 for what I had with coffee or ice tea. I paid 9.99 for this today and when I dish up an order I put twice as many potatoes on as they did. People still complain about our prices. That is mostly locals though. Travelers cannot believe how cheap our prices are.

Sorry they were disappointing, Glenda! Next time c'mon up! I made ribs yesterday, boneless country style, they were melt in your mouth good!

Today was burgers and hot dogs, broccoli salad and deviled eggs. Watermelon in a bit.

Way back when I used to cook lots, we loved country style back bones. You get more meat from them and I just love their flavor.

I actually made ribs yesterday! Made them a new way; with a dry rub made of coffee, cumin and chili powder. Cooked them for 3 hrs and then on the grill with a homemade barbecue sauce made of molasses, vinegar and ketchup. they were VERY good and VERY moist. Coleslaw, potato pancakes and cucumber salad rounded out the meal.....yum! :)

I don't usually order ribs in a restaurant; to much sauce!
