I use to get most of them but have cut back to Reminisce and Reminisce Extra due to I just don't cook much any more and don't do gardening any more due to age and other reasons. I like those two because it brings back many memories and I keep hoping I will see someone who I knew.

I used to get Birds and Blooms and Taste of Home. Both are excellent publications with beautiful photographs... so much so that I could never toss them in the recycle bin when I was done reading them. I still have every B&B that I received and a few of the TOH (the rest of those were passed on to my Mom). I don't know about the current magazines, but the older ones did not have any advertising which was a huge plus.

Interesting table... I know nothing about it but can offer some explaination as to the symbolism. The swastika prior to Nazi Germany was regarded as a symbol of Good Luck, it was used prolifically in all kinds of things. The "arms" can go to the right or the left, they have no meaning. It is thought the symbol was first seen as a comet trailing through the night sky, the "arms" being the gasses of the trailing comet particals. Next the rabbits are also a symbol of Good Luck... Say, "rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit" the first wakeup of every month and you'll have good luck all month long. The rabbit foot was just an easier means of carrying a rabbit with you. I'm thinking this table has nothing to do with Nazi Germany, but may be from a period of time prior, when the swastika had a different meaning.

We have many such restrictions in the US, with heavy fines and even jail time. There are many nurseries that propagate wild flowers, ferns etc. from seed and cuttings--legally.

I think those are all by Reiman Publications and any magazine I've ever seen that they have put out has been lovely.

One thing I liked about them is that there are virtually no advertisements in them. It's all articles.

I get Taste of Home and Coastal Living.

I get Taste of Home and Birds and Blooms. I must have received a gift subscription of the latter, as I didn't order it. It is a lovely book, though. We went to the Taste of Home cooking shows a couple of times, and that got me hooked. I don't cook much, but love recipes!

I only get Reminisce and it was a gift. I used to take Birds and Blooms and Taste of Home. I don't care for the newer Taste of Home magazine. I just don't seem to have time to look though them.

I get Country, and have had Taste of Home, but I think I let that one lapse. I've also had some of the other cooking mags that Reimen Pub put out. Enjoyed them all.

Ed, no I wouldn't, but I buy cookbooks to read, not cook from if I can help it! I cook, but don't like to. I love to read the old cookbooks, especially the ones that have little tips and stories in them.

I also love to read cook books! I do cook from them sometimes as well but reading them is also a pleasure. I really enjoyed Birds and Blooms and Taste of Home is also nice. I like some other cooking mags too Bon Appetit and Cooking Light. Another nice mag is Southern Living. I used to get it too but I have too many so I gave that one up.

I used to get them all at one time or another. I do like them. I just don't like having all these mags around the house for years. I will buy them on occasion now.

I have subscribed to all of them in the past, but the only one I get now is Reminisce. Both of us (DH and myself) read it cover to cover and then pass it on to our 90 year old neighbor. He enjoys it as much as we do.

I think Band B is not as good as it used to be .There is not much to it any more and there is advertising in it now .Will not renew.

I never ever got any of them by subscription but my parents did and they never threw any of them away. After they both passed away I brought them to my house and I really enjoy reading them especially the FARM AND RANCH LIVING I think it is called. They have four 1 month diaries in each magazine from people all over the United States and I like reading them. They also got country and country woman and reminisce and a few of B and B and taste of home so I am enjoying all of them. Like I always say I dont care how old the stories are still new to me. When I am done with them I will passs them on to one of my other 8 brothers and sisters

I get Country Woman which is put out by Reiman Publications too. I used to get Country, but have a 2 yr subscription to Country Woman so I take that one.

I stopped buying them because I can get more info and ideas off the net. Some family members have online subscriptions to things like Consumer Reports and we all have access.

I used to like Taste of Home back in the day before all the ads and cheap layout but it's horrible now. My subscription has lapsed but they keep sending them anyway. I browse them and toss them into the recycling bin.

I read Real Simple at the hairdresser.

Occasionally I'll pick up a Taunton Press mag. They have more realistic info for DIYers than most other home improvement mags.

We take "Country" and "Reminisce" and enjoy both. The photos are good, but I think their publications have changed a bit since Reader's Digest took them over. I'm hounded to death with requests to buy a gift subscription and extend my subscription for another year. I hate it when these offers are designed to appear as regular renewals. you gotta look closely or keep good records to know which is which. Sometimes one tip-off is when the request does not contain the subscription expiration date in the mailing label. Another trick is to print the expiration date on the magazine wrapper that gets thrown away - the data, then, does not appear on the magazine.

Jem Dandy, you are so right.
They're not the only ones to push for renewals, well before the year is up. My mom is always getting offers to renew from her 2 Canadian magazines.
They usually come with a wrapper with advertisements enclosed. When you throw that away, there is no reference to the renewal date. She has to wait till the next month to check the date on the wrapper to see when she should renew. And it's often 6 months away.

I only get Reminisce, a gift from my Daughter and I get her a gift of Cooking Light. I used to get good Housekeeping, but it went down hill and most of the magazines seem to be filled with advertising for prescription drugs, of which I strongly disapprove. geesh, even our local newspaper are having full page or half page ads for them.

I agree with Jemdandy, too. But Reiman Publications has always been that way. We were getting most of those magazines at one time and enjoyed them, but because the magazines come covered in plastic, which gets tossed, you really have no idea when your subscription's up unless you remember to look. One time after we got a notice I looked at the next magazine we got and we had 3 years worth left on it. I don't like that kind of pushy sales, so we quit them all.

I've never heard of any of them.

I was just being curious if the opinion was going down hill as mine was. They don't seem to have the quality they use to.

My DM kept getting renewal offers for RD and Reminisce for hers, DGM's, or her cousin's subscription and she would pay them. Then she go suspicious and called the actual publisher; she had one sub paid up until 2015 and the others were close to that. She had to fight with the publisher and got the credit-card company and the bank involved, but she got them canceled and a refund.

Come to find out there is at least four outside companies that get contracts to seek your renewal and each one gets paid if you renew through them.

I noticed no one mentioned getting Good Old Days. It is an excellent old style mag with reprints of advertisements from the 30's, 40's, & 50's. Unfortunately, they have the same High-pressure-renewal training. l.mare
