We had Verizon phone and internet and now we are Frontier. We haven't had any problems. Internet is the same. Hope she can figure it out.

In her Internet Explorer mailbox, it still says
incoming mail: incoming.verizon.net
outgoing mail: outgoing.verizon.net

I changed them to frontier.com and she still can't send or get mail

angelaid, I think your friend will have to wait and be notified by Frontier that her Mail Service is "migrating" to Frontier.

I, too, used Verizon, and in April or May received a letter that our service--both phone and internet--was being sold to Frontier. They said it might not happen till the third quarter of this year.

In July, I got a notice that the change was being made. I didn't have to do anything--except, of course, send many, many emails to my contacts telling them I had a new email address!

Tell your friend to go to "http://login.frontier.com"; and she should see a box telling her what to do, if her service has not yet been changed. In the meantime, maybe you should change her settings back to the Verizon ones.

If I can find a phone #, I'll post it.

As I said in the first paragraph, I'm pretty sure an individual can't make the change, themselves, it has to be done by Frontier.

Fortunately, for me, so far, anyway, nothing has changed about my service except the email address. Frontier is honoring--for a year, anyway--the 'net discount I managed to get from Verizon.

She was notified 3 months ago and told it would be seamless. It's been nothing but a PITA. She was without internet service for 33 days. Hasn't been able to get or receive mail. They told her it was her modem. Sent her a new one. She paid someone to come out and remove old modem and install new one. He said it was not the modem. Installed the new one anyway and she still can't access her mail. I set her up with a gmail account, but she at least needs to get into her address book to be able to import it to gmail.
She's so frustrated and I'm ready to blow up a Frontier office. Oh, wait, they don't even have an office or store anywhere near here.

If she is using Outlook Express for her email it should read

incoming mail: pop3.frontier.com
outgoing mail: smtp.frontier.com

I had the same problem when mine migrated to frontier and this is the setting I have now and it works.

ARGH. Frontier.... They screwed up a customer's system and promised to pay for the repair. I had to sue them to get paid but I of course won and they weren't happy.

At the time as I recall the POP and SMTP settings were frontiernet.net. Are you sure it's frontier.com?

I HIGHLY recommend going with a different provider.

Why not call Frontier and ask for the settings. This information should have been in the change notice. If they said it would be seamless, it means they are translating your old settings (when received by them) to the new data. In that case, keep the old settings. Maybe this did not happen and you do need new settings.

The settings given by Lindoah seem correct. However, settings may vary depending on location and your local phone exchange.

I own some Verison stock and this is the story I got. Verison has decided to exit their land line business and concentrate on cellular. Instead of being sold, the land line unit was spun off as a new company named "Frontier". I was issued a few shares of Frontier as a result of the spin-off.

I have no idea about the employee situation. If the existing employees in the land line business were retained, I expect the service to be about the same as before. However, if there was a turn-over, I'd expect failings until the new people gets a handle on the business and their jobs. And of course, new management practices can be expected even with the same management personnel as before because different people will be making the decisions.

Several of my correspondents who were Verison custoners now have Frontier URLs.
