Snow --do you have any?

Woke up to about an inch of snow today. Trees look so pretty with snow on the leaves . Dusting yesterday, but a bit more today. No wind --temp 29 should be gone day or so roads not bad icy in spots--then warmer until next Monday.

We have a little... but crunchy pellets, not 'real' snow. Our real snow is usually fluff! :-)

Silverkelt, I feel your pain. Calendar spring doesn't mean a thing when you look out at drifts of snow, does it? I may have been greatly over-optimistic with the dates I set for my rose order deliveries this year too, but I've had some years when spring DOES arrive ahead of schedule up here and then I spend weeks fretting and kicking myself for not having the roses to plant out. Better I guess to hold them, or even put them in pots until the snow clears off. This is always the hardest part of the year to get through and usually DH and I take a trip south to ease the cabin fever but not this year with the economy the way it is. The farthest away I got was down to southern Michigan for almost a week babysitting my grand daughter and my son's two dogs and I tell you what - I don't look forward to the mud season one little bit which is what they're going through right now. Yuck. Wish we could skip that bit of early spring...gee, this year I will experience it twice. Lucky me! But although I can't see any bulbs poking their heads up here with all that snow, there is one definite sign of spring: I have wasps appearing in my bedroom. Happens every single year; they wake up from winter hibernation and go the wrong way, coming *in* the house instead of exiting outdoors where they came from last fall. I sure wish I could find where the darn things sneak in. They've got the dog terrorized!

Nancy, I have two left hands. Does that answer your question? lol. Ttodd, I did the kitchen window first because it's smaller and would be easier to wipe up. I sprayed around the edge of the glass is all. Same with the DR windows and storm door which can be seen from the front. I did have to Windex the windows first, then I wiped up any residue from the middle of the windows and window sills. It's not a work of art, but I kind of like it! Except when the sun shines on it which is only for an hour or so.

Nope! We have a Bobcat! Too much snow for a snow blower here! LOL DD just bought a Sears Craftsman. Darn if I know anything about it. It was in your price range I believe. She bought it in Sept when they had 20% off I think it was? Sorry I didn't pay more attention now. The neighbor guy came over in October and borrowed it! ;) He is a nice guy and has done a lot for her. She is going to test her snowblowing skills this afternoon for the first time. She is alone too and said she couldn't depend on the neighbor to come with this 4 wheeler and blade and clean her out all winter. He's done it since she and the boys moved 3 years ago or she'd have had to hire it done or do a lot of shoveling! I hope its easy for her to handle! Hope you find a good one too!

We used to make that all the time until sometime in the 1970s when we no longer had snow every winter. I made ours the same way Charlene does. One night at work we made some during break time. Someone had brought some sweetened, condensed milk to use in it. It sure was good. Linda

Never snows here, but we've had a beautiful October here in So. CA. Really nice, moderate weather compared to the heat wave we had last year.

I did have in the wee hours, then as it got closer to daylight the rain came and now it is gone. We had about a half inch.

It is cold and windy today.

I took my long johns on a ten-day trip to Saskatchewan and Alberta, to help my brother celebrate 50th wedding anniversary - figured I should, as I married them.

Weather was pleasant there, didn't use the long johns.

On return flight from Calgary, after overflying Michigan and dropping down toward London airport, it looked to me as though a good number of snowflakes were flying by the window ... so I suggested in an announcement to the passengers within earshot that if their friends accused them of bringing a mess of snow from Calgary ... that they should assure them that they had nothing to do with it!

On arrival, it turned out that they'd had rain.

Next morning, going out to inspect the garden, it was chilly and windy, so rather than be somewhat uncomfortable ... I put on the long johns.

Actually, my theory is that in coolish climates, if one travels around rather lightly clad as the chill begins, it enables one to deal more easily with the cold weather in February.

No snow around here yet.

No, we don't even usually get it once a year. When we do, it's late Dec, Jan, or Feb.

I think it has snowed in our area twice in the 51 years I have lived on the beautiful central coast of California.

We missed the snow in SE Wisc, however, our local stations reported that several inches fell in Davenport, IA over night. There was a trace of snow in Madison, WI, We got a freeze that may have finished my roses and hydrangeas. I am concerned about those plants since they did not start their 'winter hardening' process soon enough. Two weeks ago, they pushed out a fresh crop of flower buds to start a new round blooming. The flower globes were partly formed on the hydrangeas and a couple of buds had opened on the roses.

Its a bit strange this season. My chipmunk was out and about today even though last night's temperature was 27 F. In years past, our little chippies would have disappeared about 2 weeks ago. He must have a cozy, warm, den and thinks is not so late, or he needs to gather more food stock. Maybe he's waiting for me to fill the bird feeder.
