Linda, do you have snow?

We have about 3 inches of the beautiful white stuff. It is so rare for us to have snow much less any accumulation. I made some snow ice cream, but that is the extent of my getting out. My grandchildren called and are so excited. I guess all of them will be sick from playing in it. They've made snowmen, throwing snowballs, sledding.

It is raining now so it will probably be all gone tomorrow. I just hope the temperature doesn't drop and turn it all into ice...don't want any power failure.

Not sure which Linda you're asking, but no snow where I live. My Island is considered a "rain forest" so we usually build Noah's Ark instead of snowmen.....lol

The Mississippi Linda, who lives north of me is the one I was referring to...She will know I'm talking to her when she sees the thread for sure!!

Just frost up here. I'm glad I'm not in Buffalo - they got almost 2 feet of SNOW last night. Yikes, shades of my childhood in Cleveland. Now I can go trim off my cannas and dig up the tubers to store. It's nice and crisp outside, and clear and sunny. Quite lovely, if you like this time of year (and I do!). Laurel

This is an estate sale and I didn't go Linda because frankly I didn't want to stand out there with all the antique dealers in the wee hours. In the program it did mention they had the shades. But geez you would think they would of put them on and then taken the picture, and gotten ride of the tube light bulbs. The funny thing is I was more interested in the sconces. And at $100.00 for the pair I would of gladly paid that. But my guess is they would of charged more for them and all the antique dealers would of pounced on them. I don't know about you Linda but sometimes antique dealers can really get on my last nerve. Thanks so much for your opinion, I appreciate it so. .....Jane

No ... thanks. I took my long johns on a ten-day trip to Saskatchewan and Alberta, to help my brother celebrate 50th wedding anniversary - figured I should, as I married them. Weather was pleasant there, didn't use the long johns. On return flight from Calgary, after overflying Michigan and dropping down toward London airport, it looked to me as though a good number of snowflakes were flying by the window ... so I suggested in an announcement to the passengers within earshot that if their friends accused them of bringing a mess of snow from Calgary ... that they should assure them that they had nothing to do with it! On arrival, it turned out that they'd had rain. Next morning, going out to inspect the garden, it was chilly and windy, so rather than be somewhat uncomfortable ... I put on the long johns. Actually, my theory is that in coolish climates, if one travels around rather lightly clad as the chill begins, it enables one to deal more easily with the cold weather in February. Nope! We have a Bobcat! Too much snow for a snow blower here! LOL DD just bought a Sears Craftsman. Darn if I know anything about it. It was in your price range I believe. She bought it in Sept when they had 20% off I think it was? Sorry I didn't pay more attention now. The neighbor guy came over in October and borrowed it! ;) He is a nice guy and has done a lot for her. She is going to test her snowblowing skills this afternoon for the first time. She is alone too and said she couldn't depend on the neighbor to come with this 4 wheeler and blade and clean her out all winter. He's done it since she and the boys moved 3 years ago or she'd have had to hire it done or do a lot of shoveling! I hope its easy for her to handle! Hope you find a good one too!

I am 15 miles north of jackson and no snow here yet.Just lots of rain and some sleet.
I am afraid once the temps drop this is going to all freeze over and amke for some very dangerous driving.

Charlene, We don't have any yet, but I've been seeing on the news about the snow south of us.
Snow mixed with rain and no accumulation is still being predicted for us. The temps are supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow, and back up to almost 60 by thee first of next week, so if we get any at all it won't be for long.

Lucky you for getting those three inches. I'll bet it caught a lot of people off guard down there. Now that I'm retired and Anna get schooled at home I don't care how deep it gets here. Maybe we will get some substantial snow in the near future.

The only snow ice cream I know of is snow mixed with sugar and vanilla. You have to eat it quick before it melts -- outdoors is good. Gosh, I'd forgotten all about that! (Be careful where you collect the snow!)

To make snow ice cream I put the snow in a bowl, add milk, sugar and vanilla. I have one in the fridge now and 2 more bowls of snow ready to make more.

We used to make that all the time until sometime in the 1970s when we no longer had snow every winter. I made ours the same way Charlene does.
One night at work we made some during break time. Someone had brought some sweetened, condensed milk to use in it. It sure was good.

I bet it would be fantastic with sweetened condensed milk!!! I'll have to try that. I have bowls of snow in the fridge.

Most authorites do not recommend eating raw snow, particularily the first part of the snowfall. It contains too much polutants and bacteria.

Wow!! I can't even imagine 12" of snow. I guess I had rather live down south and not experience all that snow. I would love to see it just one time though!!
