photobucket image size question

when I post a photo on here from photobucket I get this size

how do I get a larger size photo to appear on forums?

Diane, try clicking on the photo to get the larger version at photobucket, then copy and paste the url, see if that gives it to you in a larger size.

I download my camera to the c drive, then upload to photobucket...it fits the screen. So then I have to "edit" the pic to "large" to make it SMALLER. If your not getting a FULL size(covers the entire screen) screen shot then your not uploading a full size file to Photobucket. This is FULL size before I make it smaller to post here....

I never got the virus last year that photo bucket had but I also have an antivirus on my computer. I use avast which is a free antivirus. It takes less resources on your computer to run avast than per say nortons mcaffee and avg. In order to be infected with a virus you will first have to execute them. In other words it is just like installing software on your computer you can not use the software till it is installed. Same with a virus until you install it or execute the virus it is harmless. Looking at pictures clicking on links that you are not aware of what source they come from is all ways to execute a virus. Just use a good reputable antivirus software and you should be ok and don't click on links that you do not know where they came from. Don't accept email from people trying to send you exe's as an attatchment or pictures. Facebook has alot of viruses and they are some boogers also.

Hear, hear Lezro! I have used IrfanView (free download) for several years. In fact I prefer it. I learned the basics in an afternoon. I have Photoshop Elements and occassionaly use it to do some cloning, which IrfanView doesn't provide. It's an excellent program but the learning curve is fairly steep and it is slower. IrfanView bypasses Windows registry which is part of the reason it is so speedy, even with images from a 5 megapixel camera. When you first open (or drag and drop) your image you will only see a small portion (unless you have changed the default view). I click on the magnifying glass with a minus sign to zoom out to see what to crop. Sometimes what I am wanting is small enuf that resizing isn't necessary so little quality is lost (using 95 compression). I don't remember what the default compression setting (maybe 80). I choose my own depending on the image. If the cropped image is still too big for the screen click on Image in the menu and choose Resize/Resample, where you can instantly resize to make your image screen size. And of course you lose quality. That's where sharpening is useful. I have learned Not to fill my camera's LCD screen with the desired image. It loses far too much quality when down-sized and compressed. I am happy to help anyone with IrfanView. Drop me an email. You can click on the "Collections" button on the tool bar to bring up your collections. Then right click on the collection that you don't want anymore and select DELETE. Or you can right click on each picture/sound/video in the collections in the center box area and delete them as you want. Also - when you have the Collections pane viewable on the left - you can right click on "collections" and select New Collection. Then you can rename that whatever you like. That helps me keep track of what I am working on. I use a new collection for each project. I do delete them afer a while to keep the clutter down. One thing to note - Even if you have "saved" your slideshow, you need to keep the pictures in the same space if you ever want to use that show again. If you have burnt the show to disk - it will be fine on the disk, you won't need to worry about it. But if you have just saved the show to your hard drive, and want to go back and burn that show again to something with it - if the pictures have been moved or deleted (not from the collections, but from the actual hard drive) - you will be missing those pictures from you Slide Show. Don't ever change the location of the pictures you are working with, while working on a show either. I moved some from my hard drive to my external hard drive once, without thinking how it would affect the slide show - that was a mess! It was fine when I moved them back to the original location until I was finished with my project. I think there might be some WMM tutorials on YouTube. I am on dialup - so I can't really find any to link you to right now.

Thank you, ladies. I only had to try about a dozen times before I figured it out! I was expecting, when I clicked on Select, that I could double click and some lines would appear that I could move around. I was making hard work of it! I should have known better. Now I'm going to post it with a question, so I'll be looking for your advice there, too. Sue

You can regulate the size of the picture in the code you are entering.

when you upload a pic to your photobucket account and it comes up showing you the uplaoded pic if you put your cursor up at the top of the pic a hidden options bar appears and select resize there you can choose the other options which will open up an editor where you can choose what size you would like to make the image and then save it that way.

You can't make your picture BIGGER once it's loaded in Photobucket. You can make it smaller.....

You need to load a BIG picture to photobucket....a full size picture...

you can use the resize editor at photobucket as I posted to make any pic bigger however depending on what the resolution was it may make the picture fuzzy or grainy so always using the higher resolution of the pic in the first place will provide best results.

You can determine the size when you upload by going to the main upload window and selecting (more options). That will give a list of the sizes you can upload as. 800x600 is a pretty safe choice.

I just uploaded a pic and the page says
1 of 1 image has been uploaded.
and Now organize your uploads...

and

Add Titles, Descriptions and Tags Individually

Hovering above the pic does not bring up any options bar.

I have photobucket free....maybe that makes the difference.

another way to get to the resize editor, on your actual album above each photo it has an edit option directly above each pic along with move, share, delete, if you click on the edit option it will then open the editor where you can resize the picture.
To see the hidden bar I mentioned go to your album and just click right on any picture in there in the new page that opens with that picture in it now put your cursor at the very top edge of the picture and the toolbar should appear with the resize option.

I re size with Irfanview before I upload to PB. I read in the PC help forum that the 640x 480 pixels is a good size for posting in forums and in email.
