Another update on mom

Good news. Mom was transferred to a rehab facility yesterday!

That is such a milestone! I remember when my MIL broke her hip and being so thankful that rehab was so quick for her as well.

Your mom is well on her way to recovery now. Great news.

Thanks for the update, Jasdip. Again, your mom seems to be one strong woman to have survived all of this at her age--most would not. That speaks well to a good recovery, though I know it will take a long time. I'm very relieved they were able to transfer her to a better hospital where her care is much improved! When you visit, do you chat with (to) her and read to her? That might be soothing for the both of you. I say a prayer for her, you and Wally every day. Hang in there. Erin

What wonderful news! But I will keep right on praying for her to hold onto the joy of being sober & that she won't give in to the temptation. Our son still attends AA- after nearly 20 years of being sober; he's found some loyal friends there & is very gratified when able to help others fight that nagging urge for one more day. He's still amazed at what he learned about himself thru' AA. We're not only thankful he's holding to promises he made to himself, but SO proud he has. Suzi

That's great, Doodle. So glad she took it well and is going to go. Continue to offer her some words of encouragement here and there along the way... I'm not a religious person myself, but I think there's an awful lot to be said for a sense of FAITH in general in reaching goals. Or HOPE, as the place is named... it empowers a person to try and reach for better things. It's great when people find the strength they need, and believe that they actually CAN, and go on to make positive changes. If that's helped because they believe in God or Mr. Peanut, so be it, and more power to 'em!

Oh Nancy...my heart aches for your mom & you & yours. It is such a battle but with all of your love, encouragement and attention for her, the Drs' wisdom & meds to ease her pain and your mom's optimism..it's through all of our prayers that she find healing & comfort!

Thank you all again. Much better for her. I went this afternoon and sat with her while she ate. It seems a nice place, and one of my daughters of my heart worked there for a short time as part of her nurses training. She said mom will get good care there.

Susan, easier to visit, yes, but farther to drive! only about 20 minutes, but the hospital was only 3 miles!
