I am so glad yesterday is now past !!!!

Yesterday morning, my Bob collapsed in the kitchen and I did manage to get him to his recliner. I got him a bit of toast, and something to drink which I did while we waited for the ambulance...... he was wanting food... NOW !! he was enraged by the fact he was unable to stand up on his own at the time. The medics were here in record time , about 25 minutes... .... but they had to drive a long way to get here...When they did get here..... Bob refused to put down his toast..... and was beligerant as a 5 year old... but they handled him really well... but reckon that is their training... thank goodness... When they took him in the amublance, I lost it and squalled like a beaten stepchild.... and my friend and neighbor called just as I was going out the door, so I told her what happened, and she came to the hospital and we sat and prayed together in the chapel.... she stayed for a couple of hours before I sent her on her way to get ready for wednesday evening praise and worhsip before bible study..... she is our worship leader at church.

At the hospital, they did blood work, ekg, ct scan and Xrays ..... All his blood came back okay except he is just a tiny bit anemic... but they said that isn't all that unusual...But his scan showed that he suffered a stroke...not a TIA, but a stroke... I have to take him to his Primary on Friday which is the next day he has office hours...... or back to ER if he has another episode... and I have to get in touch with his neurologist.

They suggested that he stay overnight, but Bob said if he can walk, he is walking outta there... so although they were reluctant, they told him okay, but to just take it easy and see the primary asap.. I am trusting God to let me know what I need to do here.....

I have to take him to his Primary either tomorrow or Friday.. or back to ER if he has another episode... and I have to get in touch with his neurologist.

Altogether is was quite a scary day for me... and if it were not for the presence of the Lord, I probably would have completely come apart.... This man and I have been joined at the hip for over 40 years and are as much or even more in love than we were when we married... He is weeks away from his 82nd birthday, and has lots of health issues besides his strokes... heart arythmia, emphysema (he still smokes a pipe ) so if you have a moment, would you lift him up in prayer...?? Please???

Oh, my God, how awful. I wish Bob all the best. I had a stroke myself in October 2001. The main thing is to get to the hospital fast and get lots of rehabilitation therapy. Many people recover completely after a stroke, some are mildly disabled (like myself) and of course a few are lost. Saying prayers and sending hugs to both of you!

...and I am glad I sprayed Serenade 3 days ago, just in time for our first summer Nor'easter. My Texas Cages are getting a workout with the steady wind. Nexy year I will stake them a bit. Everything is still standing but "what a test!" for my different staking methods, poles, angle iron, cheapy cages, iron and cross bars, as well as the Cages. Will be very interesting to see. Last year the blight hit in September. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

I would read books about children of alcoholics. You would be suprised even if she didn't live with her mother the characteristics she may have of being a child of an alcoholic. I am an adult child of an alcoholic and believe you me I felt like I was born being an adult because of it. Look on amazon. com and look up books about it you might want to purchase one. bet it helps.

I had a horrible day with my computer as well!! I checked my emails and saw that all of them were dated 2010. All the 2011 emails were gone...I checked the "deleted" folder and nothing there either. I looked in the other folders..nothing. I checked C drive, program files, Outlook..nothing. After a couple of hours of this, I called my server tech. He said he'd check my account and see if they were still on the server...NO. He said I (or someone else) had to have deleted the emails, therefore putting them into the deleted folder. Then deleted them from the deleted folder, thus deleting them from the server..permanently. I absolutely did not do that!! DH said, "Well, maybe you did it and forgot." I can't even tell you my reply. :( I do delete the unnecessary emails as I read them. I flag the ones I need to save. I publish a monthly newsletter for our little city and have people who write some of the columns for me via emails. I try very hard to get the paper out by the end of the month with the details of activities for the following month. So as I was preparing to start the paper for January, my writers had emailed their articles. See? Now I'm rambling, of course. The episode ended about 4 p.m. with 2 Excedrins, coffee and a nap. Pulled the cover over my head and decided I'd surface next year. But, oh no, someone mentioned that Christmas had not come yet. Deep breath...I am now wrapping zillions of gifts, preparing bedrooms for DD and grands who will come home with us after Christmas & making cookies. Yep, all at one time. No stress...

Morz8...yes, I promised I would go to ER if I feel any worse, get a higher fever, cough more/deeper, etc. I only live 4 blocks from hospital and my son and wife live across the street from me and they would be here in a heartbeat to take me. I have seen so many go to hospital and get staff or strep infections, so I really do not go unless absolutely necessary. Chisue, I don't seem to be coughing as much or as hard tonight...so maybe things are settling down some...but when I do cough, it is painful across my back, but part of that might be sore muscles because of the extremely hard coughing I did for several days. I have an aerosol inhaler that I am to use 3xdaily. My oxygen level was 94 today. I am just hanging out...taking it easy...and I believe better days are coming...but I know I will probably have a lingering cough and fatigue for quite some time. Thanks for thinking of me and wishing me well.

Sending hugs and prayers for you and Bob. It does sound a bit like he has some dementia from the stroke. You might ask the Dr. to check this out. Sometimes people get quite angry, but don't really mean it. My DH is that way when his blood sugar drops too fast and before and candy takes over. Wishing you the best, and yes if you feel like crying, go ahead. Tissues are good!

Crying along with you. My DH had a significant stroke three years ago at age 60. Let him get as much sleep as possible as that is when the nerve pathways regenerate as you probably know if this wasn't his first.

Hello again... We took a nice little ride to town and back again.. it is a beautiful day and the leaves are so pretty right now. Bob thoroughly enjoyed this little outing. He is feeling a bit better and is now taking a nap.

He has suffered strokes on a couple of occasions, but the MRI showed that they were mini strokes and that these sorts of things are the norm for a person his age. One neuropsychologist even said that he has never seen a patient his age that has not had a few TIA's... and many times are totally undetectable unless an MRI is done. With Bob's health history, etc... they said the best thing to do is to allow him to eat, drink or indulge in whatever it is he wishes... because to restrict him from what he loves will do more harm that good. In other words, it is too late for him to be able to regain much of what he has lost. He was a drinker for many years, but quit on his own about 8 years ago. However, he still does smoke a pipe. Praise the Lord, he doesn't smoke inside the home.. as I get totally physically ill if I breathe in any kind of tobacco smoke... Every doctor we have seen that have read the MRI's and various doppler readings and arteriograms all say the same thing... Let him have what he wants when he wants it. So, I do.... One doctor went so far as to say that he would never survive withdrawal from tobacco as it is difficult on the body for someone that is healthy still, but for someone as fragile as Bob, well it isn't even a consideration and would undoubtably kill him sooner than anything else.

His "dementia" is stroke related and not Alzheimers related.. there is a difference... but both are quite difficult to deal with... But I draw my calm and strength from my Creator because He is there for me without fail. So, I ask for prayer because He will hear and he will answer and He will take care of things... perhaps not exactly as we would want them to, but in the way they are meant to be..... I do take comfort in knowing Bob is Saved and has accepted his Savior to be Lord of his life...

Bob ate his dinner and all of it, which is unusual.. it is so difficult to keep his weight up, but they say the emphysema is eating up most of his energy and as long as his blood sugar and cholesterol, etc.. levels are good.. just to let him eat whatever it is he wants. Tonight, he asked for some brownies.. so I whipped up a pan of them.. he at a third of the pan.. lol... but then said he felt sort of sick.. (jeez I wonder why ) But after about an hour and a nice cup of coffee, he said he felt better...

I have to be very careful about scatter rugs now, and have taken them all up. It is too easy for him to mis step and take a tumble.. and I am getting a fellow to install a good sturdy banister on the stairs going down to his man cave.. He doesn't want any, but I think he should have something for balance.. He is feeling pretty good, but he is more childlike than ever before.. but still is loving ..... he does have a temper, but it is just frustration that his body parts just don't function like they did 10 years ago..

We had a nice talk tonight over supper.... and he asked if I had considered his going to a nursing home... I assured him that a NH would only be a very very very last resort, and I would look for other alternatives first... and that I would always be here for him as long as the Lord will grant us that blessing. He seemed to be satisfied with my answer... and I meant every word...

We will see the doctor tomorrow morning at 8:30, so maybe we will find some answers there, but I seriously doubt he will be able to offer any more than what we already have...

The doctor is an Ultra Christian (Pentacostal)and believes in the power of prayer... and also understands how to deal with the spiritual side of doctoring too....so we are very fortunate to have him...

Please keep Bob in your prayers as we begin another day... Please pray that I am able to remain focused on the cross and not of the world and what it has to offer. (Not always an easy thing)
