Just last month I taught a class on Bonsai to the local garden club.

In the Winter months I'm a sub in the Rochester, MN public school system. Anything in the math & science area is good.

I have a love of daffodils, and have fairly recently begun to collect then (in 2008) and in 2009 started entering/exhibiting them in American Daffodil Society Shows.
You might say I'm sort of passionate about them.

I would encourage others to grow numerous cultivars, and teach them how to exhibit them at shows.

I've acquired about 175 new cultivars this year alone, and have somewhere between 500 and 1000 different cultivars all together.

I've taught (on a volunteer basis) basic eBay selling, basic digital photography, middle-school poetry, cooking with tofu (I did that a lot when we had our tofu business), rug hooking, and of course.......breastfeeding! If I were to get paid to teach something, it would be creative writing.

I taught various business subjects at the high school level for 33 years!

If this were an "if I were King" question....I would design a law where citizens could give out "citations" to people who were verbally abuseing their children...or even spouses. Not a penalty type thing, but an opportunity type thing so one could observe themselves as the public sees them and give them the tools to make changes and to realize those words and actions are forever imprinted in their loved ones brains......if I were king.

Or, maybe you would have to know and practice that before having children.

Teach though....I admire Oprah because she is trying to teach people Wisdom. How to BE. How to find truth and love and beauty every day.

Before I retired, I loved what I taught.
Various courses in the IT field, from mainframe OS configuration/internals to database design and implementation.

I volunteered with kids for a couple of years and did various things with them like baking cookies, crafts, etc. I couldn't do this full time. Other people's kids drive me nuts. My dd's second grade teacher left me in charge of her classroom for about 15 minutes a couple of weeks ago. Some of those kids don't listen worth a hoot.

Just retired from teaching elementary science.

I do vermicomposting,(composting with worms) and last summer I was invited to a summer camp one afternoon to show the kids all about vermicomposting.

I took hubby and he took pictures. It was a blast. I posted the pics here, at that time.

I've held some workshops as well.

I would love to teach my three passions...

Gardening. Focusing on choosing the right plants and putting them in the right places. That's Rule #1 for gardening success (after building up healthy soil, of course.)

Birding. Choosing the right feeders and locations to maximise the numbers of native birds and minimize the numbers of damaging birds. Also, the right houses, in the right locations, working toward the same goals.

I am planning a very casual Purple Martin "workshop" next spring. I've found two people who seem interested in providing better housing and a safe environment for these wonderful birds.

Retired after 30 1/2 years of teaching.

I would teach "How to make public places truly accessible to the physically handicapped that do not use a wheelchair". I don't expect to be able to access everywhere, but sometimes I have to wonder who came up with some of the ADA guidlines that don't take into account that not all persons with physical difficulties that are are out and about use wheelchairs.

Dog training. With a focus on "natural" dog training which means finding your dog's individual personality and drive. Then directing that drive into the the behavior you wish to achieve.

Oh jasdip, I've been wanting to learn how to, and take up vermicomposting for some time now...wanting to make my very own black gold in the basement.

I would teach people more about the many, many capabilities of misunderstood autistic children and adults.

How to make money work more effectively - not just for myself, but to share with others.

How to evaluate the various aspects of loving my neighbour (including the worldwide ones ... that we should try every other avenue of coming to terms with rather than bombing) that my boss requested that his followers do, a couple of thousand years ago.

Mine is more on the lighter side. I would teach......How to take the perfect nap. At 75 yrs old I have found I need to take a short nap almost every aft. noon. I feel like I have perfected the ritual nicely.

Caroline, I'm not brave. I organized the hands-on activities for the children--planting, mixing stuff, magnets, etc. They loved it so it was lots of fun. I'm missing the kids right now, but not the work.

Many times as I witnessed young women using food stamps at the grocery I have wished that they were required to take classes in budgeting and healthful cooking on a restricted budget. I truly feel that many of them simply don't know these things and would welcome the knowledge.

I think I could do a good job of teaching them.

I am an adjunct instructor at our community college, Travel & Tourism, Hospitality Sales, Basic Business Writing, Prepare for Your Interview. I also coordinated travel certification courses (basic and advanced) for the Travel Institute.

There a bunch of courses here that I would take!! Vermicomposting and all the Birding courses to start!

Harp, cross stitching, and accounting.

I have taught sewing to people that had an interest in it,as well as crafting,especially re-use,re-cycle type crafting.I try to keep as much out of the landfill as possible.

Have also taught a few friends to cross stitch.

I would love to learn to do more with all my pictures on photobucket.But i'm a self taught computor person with a little help from dh.But he isn't a good teacher.As many times as i say show me what to do and let me do it,he insists he has to do it,so then i have to fumble my way thru it until i get it.Hate that!! There is no where around here for me to take classes,and i'm not good at reading things i never did before and doing them,i'm a visual person.

In my early life I had hoped to be a teacher. Didn't happen for a lot of reasons, but I was fortunate enough that my DH was a teacher, and he and I co-taught the first Adult Basic Education class ever held in our county.

I had the privilege of teaching an elderly black man to write his name. He was just beaming to see that he could do that. I think that is probably the most wonderful thing I've ever helped any one with.

I taught business education subjects for 31 years. At first I wanted to teach shorthand and typing. However I switched to computer subjects when shorthand lost its flavor.

I have taught calculus at the local trade school. I am capable of teaching statics and dynamics as well. I think that I would enjoy tutoring physics at the high school level to inquiring minds.

I do have the knowledge, but maybe not the patience, to teach introductory photography and gem faceting.

My daughter (vision itinerary teacher)teaches the visually impaired children...teaches braille and I see what great pleasure she gets from it...that is something I would want to do...Mary

I did teach - kindergarten all 22 years.

Now I'd love to go back and teach kids about gardening for hummingbirds and butterflies. Actually did do the butterfly gardening ones. Loved it but the schools don't hve the money to pay for the materials to start and keep up the gardens nor the time for the lessons with everything else that is mandated. So sad.

Someone else on another forum asked what profession you would like to do other than what you already do and my answer was to have a native plant nursery and part of that would be to have an area to have lessons for children and adults to come learn about butters and hummers.

I have taught knitting to groups of children as well as adults. Also taught vermicomposting, cooking, sewing and cooking.

Unfortunately all my worms died over the summer. Of course, I was no were near to take care of them, as they were stored in my daughters back yard. It just got to hot... as we had record heat for month.

I need to get me a new batch.

I am currently teaching a basic photography class at our local senior center.

In the past I have taught a number of subjects as both a volunteer and a paid instructor...

Professionally I taught "Plumbing Apprenticeship Classes" and at another time I was a field instructor for a Tractor-Trailer training school where I had to take 5 students out on a 600mile road trip.

In the past I taught both First Aid & CPR for the Red Cross

but the courses I had absolutely the most fun with were while I was a member of the U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary I taught public service classes on Safe Boating & Advanced Coastal Navigation.

Even though I have no education in teaching I would like to council teens about their life decisions.

I would like to teach (show) people who are on limited income how to shop, basic cooking, balancing checkbooks, and get resourses to guide them to avoid being ripped off.

I worked as a Speech Therapist for several years, and after raising the kids, I went back and taught pre-K. I did some private Speech Therapy in my home and some part time at a nearby school district, but I loved that pre-K. We laughed and had the best time and it was amazing how their little brains just soaked it all up. Some of my fav. memories are from pre-K days and the things those little guys would say.

Well, I teach Literacy to kinders through 4th grade. Love it...especially when the light goes on that says, "Hey, I can read!"
Our school is also big on composting, and vermicomposting with the worms. I haven't taught it, but find it fascinating and love to hear the kids explain it to visitors in our school. I've also taught an enrichment class after school on scrapbooking. The girls really like this and some boys even participate.

Sue VA, that must have been the most rewarding experience of your life. Your response gave me the biggest goosebumps.

I was thinking about it and I would love to teach at a center for underpriveleged folks how to get a job. Teach them to bring their own pen (I have watched SO many people fill out job aps and have to ask for a pen or pencil), to dress in a suit whether they were going for the president of McDonalds or a fry cook at McDonalds, and how to shake hands and look people in the eye.

Giving people pride in themselves is where I want to take the people I teach.

In high school I was involved in a program called Eco-Act and we went in small groups weekly to grade schools and taught 4-5th graders ecology. It was really great, I met a lot of the kids later in life and they told me they still remember a lot of the activities and many are very active composters. It is cool to know you made a difference in someone's life.
