bring rain gear, it's been very wet here in orlando and unusually warm (90's) for this time of yr! don't know about the rides i only go to animal kingdom for the animals & epcot for the landscaping & food & wine festival & christmas. but the food & wine festival is going on right now at epcot and disney also has the not-so scary halloween. i have a co-worker who is going down for the weekend to that halloween party w/ her 2 yr old.

if you are going anywhere outside disney don't miss seaworld & aquatica. there are tons of things going on in orlando too, we finally start getting out of the house down here and doing things outdoors again come oct lol ~ liz

It has been a couple years since I have been to DW - but it is a fun place.

Kids WOULD NOT ride the Tea Cups last time - too boring, LOL! I think you can make them even more tame, by not spinning them. I think you pull on the center spool to make them turn more. The Tea Cups are super tame!!!

You MUST ride Soarin'. It is at Epcot, and they always have huge lines, so go early and get a Fast Pass for it. It is just awesome. It is not a crazy ride, but it simulates you being in a glider going over various parts of the country. Skiing, ocean, fireworks, etc. It is also very tame. You really don't move much - the screen in front of you does. It also has scents, like pine over the forest - orange over orange groves.

Since you are going for a week - I would plan some naps during the day for the young ones (and old ones ;)

Are you staying in a Diney condo? If so, you can participate in the Magic Hours - they have parks that open early and stay open late for Disney guest. You need a special bracelet that you get with your room card.

I hope you are staying on the Disney site - that is just the best. If not, you can still take advantage of the transportation between parks. Don't drive between them - I think you have to pay tolls, etc. The busses or monorail can take you anywhere.

I've been several times, and the best help to me was a book about touring Disney that I believe was written by Roger Birbaum. It gave many tips...like if they say they open at 9 (I can't remember now), be there early because they usually open a little earlier...say, 8:30. It also gave tips on what rides to ride first, to avoid the lines. For example, I think back then, he suggested, be there early, go directly to Space Mountain. After Space Mountain, exit to the left and go to "such and such." I made a little list, and took it with me, and it made it so much easier. Also if you are planning to go to Epcot, one of the tips was to make early reservations at one of the restaurants. We ate Japanese food, so we made a reservation at the Japanese restaurant. They really do fill up fast and you don't waste time waiting for a table.

That little book was excellent. We had a limited amount of time and it helped us (daughter and I) get the most out of it. And, I didn't buy the book...got it at the library.

My parents used to dress us all alike so it was easier to find us. Get one of the parks strollers they are nice and you may want to have them especially for the 2 year old.

I was going to suggest a book too... might be the same one Marilyn is talking about. "The Unoffical Guide to Disney". Well worth it's weight in gold! It would be a great help with such small children (and adults subject to vertigo).

You'll find out quick if you are prone to motion sickness. I always loved rides until my last visit to Disney.

I just talked to DH and he is going to pick up some rain ponchos when he goes to get dog food.

DD has a book about Disney. And she got something else online that tell you which days are better for each park in terms of crowds. I think it is also somewhat personalize based on the kids ages.

We will be taking a double stroller (one child sits/one stands) with us. The double stroller rental is a ridiculous $31 a day with a $100 deposit. - Not gonna happen.

Sounds like the tea cups will be about the right speed for little kids and old ladies.

We are not staying on Disney property. We have a condo at Terra Verde Resort.

Liz, if you don't mind you can turn the head down a tad. Somewhere is the low 80s would be nice.

linda LOL not gonna happen this month, sorry lol! we were actually cooler during late aug & sept into the mid-upper 80's then this month. we had the windows open twice during sept!!! now it's low 90's and has been storming pretty heavily in the late afternoons & evenings. last night seminole/orange/volusia co had more than 15,000 lightening strikes and wind shear damage. back to summer weather :-( ~ liz

Have a great time! next door neighbors spent last week there. They said weather was beautiful...warmer than they expected.

Magic Kingdom trick....when you get there in the morning, take the train to Frontierland (back of the park), then work your way forward to Main street. Most people walk up main St to the front lands, and then work back.

Do Magic Kingdom and MGM in the morning(s).

EPCOT at night (do NOT miss the fireworks show in the World Showcase, grab an outside table at the Rose and Crown pub in "England", along the lake...about 1 - 1 1/2 hours before the show starts).

Animal Kingdom - you might want to set aside an entire day. It's totally separate from the other Kingdoms.

Animal Kingdom -- do the ride to see the animals early in the morning while they are still active go first thing

Bring some kind of insulated drink container. Fill it with ice. It will melt throughout the day and you'll have cold water to drink. It can get expensive getting drinks for that many people. We just got back last Sunday. We emptied our canteens every day, it was so hot.

DD and family used to go every year. They would visit the park in the morning. Then take Alex back to their motel (with kitchenette) for lunch and a rest time (supposedly for HIM) then go back to the park later. Saved $$$ just on food for lunches. Also no grumpy little ones.
