Need Advice Regarding Theft

We have been using the same carpet cleaning company for many years, and are very happy with them. Yesterday, we had carpets cleaned, and the owner did not come this time, but sent two of his technicians. They did a very good job. However, last night, while putting things away, I discovered that a large bank is considerably less full than it had been.

This bank was a gift when we retired and we keep it in the office. I put only nickels, dimes and quarters in it--change from when I clean out my purse. I put a handful of change in it the other day and noticed that the bank was at least 2/3 full--so I made a mental note to get coin roller thingys. The bank is now no more than 1/3 full. There is at least $100 missing.

We don't know whether to talk to the owner about it or not. On one hand, we really like him and don't want to upset him. We would also hate to get someone fired in this bad economy (not to mention concern over whether he would come after us). On the other hand, the owner would probably want to know that he has a thief working for him. We will not stop using his services (but will certainly be more cautious in the future), but other customers may not be so forgiving.

Should I report it? TIA
