It sounds as if you have scratched your cornea. I've done it twice and I don't envy you!
You were injured at work, so your employer should pay for you to go have the eye doctor look at it, antibiotic drops and anything else your eye doctor advises. My doctor advised using artifical tears several times a day (as counter intuitive as that sounds) as well as the antibiotic drops. The good news is that it heals pretty quickly!

It sounds like you need to stop by Walmart and have the Optician take a look at it - you must have scratched the surface of your eye. You may need to see a doctor for some drops - think 'infection' - ouch!

Moni that sounds painful, good thing you had the glasses on however. I perhaps would check it out with a doctor first, in the meantime wear the patch if it alleviates the pain. BTW have you heard anything on the HUD house offer yet?

Moni, that is covered by Workers Comp. Always notify your supervisor when you get injured. They will file paperwork and have you see an eye doctor (opthamologist). That protects them as well as you.

A scratched cornea is nothing to mess around with. You need to either get to your local eye hospital's ER, or make an emergency appt. with your opthalmologist (NOT an optometrist--they aren't medical drs; definitely not an optician--they just sell, make and fit glasses)

If it is a scratched cornea, you may be out of work for a bit--so you'll need to make sure you get the right treatment, as well as the appropriate documentation for your employer.

Absolutely report this to HR and see a doctor, preferable as Susan says, an opthalmologist. It does sound like a scratched cornea and this is nothing to mess around with, you only have one set of eyes. It is painful, I've worn contacts for 40 years and have several scratched corneas, please get it checked. And yes, your employer should pay for this.

ditto all the above. DH had a scratched cornea and the eye doctor wound up putting a big patch on the eye plus you'll need medication. Get it checked out ASAP.

I don't mean to scare you but you need to see an eye doctor or a surgeon now, do not go to the emergency room. My husband got something in his eye one time and went to the doctor because I insisted and he said an infection can go from one eye to the other over night with a very bad outcome.

I'm thinking you might still have a tiny fragment in there. It's worth it to have a doctor look closer. Sorry you are dealing with this, Moni. Hugs!

Vala's comment makes me wonder if there is some confusion about what I'd posted earlier.

I was definitely NOT advocating going to the ER at your regular general hospital.

I specifically suggested the ER at your local EYE hospital. The hospital in your area where they ONLY deal with eyes, where the best opthalmic specialists are on staff, where they have the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment machines. It's the first place to consider for any eye injury, IMO. And yes, eye hospitals do have ER's (have been there myself).
