part 2 - Who Can you Trust Anymore? No one!

Last month I posted about the fellow we pay to plow our driveway in the winter at our vacation place in the mountains. He was caught cutting down oak trees and selling them for firewood. Our landscaper happened to drive by, saw him and called us. We alerted the police but let him go with a warning.

We also have problems with poachers who trespass on our posted land to hunt deer. These fellows are bold enough to hunt during the day and also at night with lights. We spoke with the local game warden last week who informed us that our landscaper is one of his worst offenders. The warden said that the landscaper hunts near the property line so that if he sees someone coming he just moves over to the next property. And here we thought we could trust him because he warned us about the firewood thief.

We didn't want to tip off the landscaper so we called and told him now that it's fall he won't have to water any of the flower beds and that we'd call him in the spring.

It's scary to think that someone who shows such disregard for laws - entering a private community, trespassing on private property, ignoring posted signs, hunting out of season, hunting at night - is freely roaming my property. I wonder what else he's capble of? I just hope he gets caught in the act.

This is so discouraging.
