wear red today. You know, for Ruthie, Kathy, MaryAnn and all others going through a tough time with cancer treatments.

Lets wear red on Thursdays, till everyone got past their treatments.

Mine will be a vest today. It turned cold (for Oklahoma) here, and extra warmth is needed.

I already looked, and my red warm shirt is not in my closet yet. Must be in one of the boxes not unpacked yet.

Thus, the vest, and I will do my toe nails today too, also in red.

Ok. I will do this too. I'm already at work dressed today, but starting next week that's my new routine for Thursdays.

Thanks Beano. Thankfully this is late enough in the season everything should be dormant. My biggest concern is my "big" Metasequoia. They're supposed to be Zone 4 hardy so a mid winter -2F that we're supposed to be getting shouldn't bother it. Frost nip in the spring and fall has gotten it in the past though. The Arborvitae shouldn't care...I have a couple Japanese Maples which this probably isn't the best for.... My Fagus sylvatica Purpurea Tricolor - (rose-marg.)var.beech is supposed to be zone 5 hardy. Its still a little 18" tall recent graft and all alone out in the middle of the yard though. OH! I have a Crape Myrtle Lagerstroemia indica 'Dynamite' thanks to my wife loving it when we saw it at Lowe's. Its a zone 7 tree despite what Lowe's thought. Not the biggest of deals most years. It a shrub anyway so some dieback isn't the worst thing that could happen. Its tall as the Mrs. now though and does flower nicely.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Our consumer organisation was criticising companies that were making their products appear environmentally friendly when they either weren't or they had a token benefit while still having undesirable aspects, and some of the claims were irrelevant or downright ridiculous anyway. Can't remember exactly but there were products that never contained the bad ingredient "b" and wouldn't logically require bad ingredient "b" that were being labelled "guaranteed b-free" just because "b" was in the news a lot. The dolphins were being put on products that had nothing to do with dolphins, oceans, anything like that. One product was promoted as producing an environmentally-friendly by-product which wasn't. It was nothing more than an exercise in feel-good marketing with absolutely no substance. Makes people confused and cynical. I've been interested in environmental issues for about twenty years. Lately it has become fashionable. In some ways that's making things easier for me but in other ways it's not. A lot more information out there, a lot more products. A lot more research. When we were looking for a new house we saw a couple advertised as solar- passive. One was tri-level with the two storey side almost all glass, the other was single level with lots of glass along one side. They had the "solar-passive look" that's for sure. One faced east, the other west. I don't take the realtor's word for it, I carry a compass. I think we are at a turning point. We can take it seriously or we can indulge in a feel-good exercise. When people who make a profit or are funded by our taxes to spread the environmental message treat it as a fashionable feel-good exercise I am concerned.

What a lovely way to start my little internet break. I JUST finished unloading the conex, and while you can't park two large cars in the garage yet you can park 1 1/2 cars, or one car and a race car and a trike...which is enough until we get packed for port townsend. :) I'll read your happy thoughts for me to keep my spirits high. So far all is going GREAT with our cycle so we do hope it's going to work out finally.

I slept in red last night and still have it on, so that's a start. I was just looking through sweatshirts to see which one to wear today. Now I'll pick the red one for sure.

Thanks so much Moni...I just painted my fingernails red and I have on a red sweatshirt too. I love that you have taken up our cause. I get to skip chemo this week 3 on and one off is my protocol . I have a visit with the oncologist and of course have blood drawn but that's it. I receive so many nice notes from people here at the KT and people signing my guest book at CaringBridge.

I wore red today, and will until all treatments are over!

I wore a Susan K. T shirt every Friday until my sister was done with her chemo and radiation.

It feels good to make a statement, sometimes without anybody knowing but you.

Red for our girls!!!!

I will think of (pray for) each of you (I have a note with names by the computer) daily wear something red every Thursday, too. I don't have that many "red" clothes, but I have pins and earrings and I'll find something!
