socks12345 - Thank you. alisande - Great caterpillar shot! What camera do you use? I love all the Fall shots. We don't have much of a Fall here in CA. I miss it from my New England days. Clare

Nice pics today. I love the flowers. They certainly do brighten up a dreary day here. I decided to give Fred a little exposure. He's at the groomer right now getting his "bed head" trimmed!!

Went on a hike in Sitka, Alaska. I believe these are Sitka Pines but Kat, don't quote me on that. :-)

hahahaha, my lips are zipped!
We went to the ocean last Saturday. DH wanted to check
out a couple of fishing spots. Took a walk and then
we "toured" the tallest lighthouse in Washington.
107 feet tall (if I remember correctly! lol) The
couple that were volunteerting there are from Tennessee!
They take a month long vacation once a year. They have
been all over! They are volunteering at the light house
for a month. Drove their RV and live right at the base
of the lighthouse.
Okay! lets go!

a look at the bulb behind the crystal lense of the light house beacon. Now they use a very small halogen light attached to the outside of the lighthouse. You can
barely see it on the picutre above, on the left at the top railing.

a look down from part way up the stairs. Sorry it's not
foucused, I didn't have my smaller lense! DH had to
climb the last section sideways as his shoulders
were too wide! The floor had really pretty blue, pink, orange and yellow tiles! My feet hung off the steps. Imagine DH's size 15/16! lol

The light was made in France. To get the red for the
beacon, some government idiot used real rubies!
Well, the rubies started to disappear! Wow! imagine
that! lol So then he used a plastic, and, well, you can
imagine that it melted! haahahaha. Some "civilian"
suggested he use red stained glass. DUH! lol
It says on the plaque that it was a 5 times a
second light, but the volunteer told us that plaque
was wrong! Seems the captains could tell where they
were as each lighthouse light had a different amount of
revolutions. (I forget what this one was... 10? lol)
