LOL PURCHASED: The London Bridge was purchased on April 18, 1968 for a bid of $2,460,000 from the City of London by Robert P. McCulloch, Sr., founder of Lake Havasu City. ANTIQUE: To avoid taxation, the Bridge was declared an antique and has been identified as the worldÂs largest antique by the Guinness Book of Records. SHIPPED: The 22 million pounds of granite (10,276 pieces) was shipped from London through the Panama Canal to Long Beach, California, and then trucked to Lake Havasu, a 10,000 mile journey. RECONSTRUCTION: Total reconstruction time was three years, from the laying of the cornerstone (September 1968) to dedication (October 1971). Gorgeous pictures as always! Ron-I have that same cactus.We were fishing on the Rio Grande about 25 years ago and I spotted it on the side of the steep rocky bank above the river.DH climbed up the bank and got it for me.It was the size of a baseball and had beautiful fuschia flowers on it.It has survived being dug up and moved 3 times,run over by a bulldozer,chopped with a weed eater and smashed by a pickup truck tire.It is now in a pot on my deck and is about the size of a volleyball! Still has beautiful blooms every year.

McConnells Mill State Park, Pennsylvania. Popular with hikers for it's rugged trails through the rocks and sheer drop offs down to the river. This beautiful weekend will almost certainly bring about the need for a rescue or two from the rocks by emergency personnel.
