if you look close, between my legs, you can see Turner Falls!

It was early morning and this monarch did not move for at least 30 minutes. It was chilly and it needed to warm before flying.

Like Jim's butterfly,Roxie is trying to warm up too.

Found this plant at a friend's home. Neither of us knew what it was, but I loved how it looked.

jodi, it's gorgeous! It looks like lisianthus to me, though I've only ever seen photos of it. :p

This weekend I went kayaking and saw a snake swimming across the water in front of me. I followed it to shore and got a couple of pictures of it. I have since made an effort to identify it and it seems pretty certain that it is a copperhead.

yikes, Bob! My brother moved from NY to SC and his first time out fishing had copperheads swimming after him. Not good. lol!

So, you were at Turner Falls, OK. If its the palce I am thinking of, it is very nice and located in the Arbuckle Mountains of Okahoma. Most folks do not think of "mountains" and "Oklahoma" together, but there it is! The Arbuckle Mts are ancient, possibly older than Appallatia, hense its peaks have worn down to low lying, rounded points, at least that is what the geology books tell me. Turner Falls is a delightful place. I was there once in 1955.

Yep, Jem that is it. Just not much water falling... we are in a pretty severe drought.
