How's this for closeness! They sometimes sleep on the long sofa together, but rarely like this on the short one.

oakleyok yes, Pops is on route 66, and the famous round barn is about a mile or so further east. :) I stop at Pops quite often. It's a nice spot to stop for cyclists. Moni

During out trip to West Virginia, we visited a one-room school house in Arbovale. This is a view out the window, looking into the mountains. Yes, a family with five kids lives there. Does it look like it was once something other than a private home? I'll have to ask the owner about its history. That street is full of huge, beautiful, and interesting houses.

Okay, I got the scoop on the house. Here's what the owner said:

I believe it was built circa 1892. It was a famous architect from New York back in the day. A man named Sturgis. He was a prominent guy back then (not sure why). For a very long time it was the Abbey for the big stone church around the corner. All the ministers from that church lived in this house for many, many years...

Oldgardener, what a great home that spider has! His architecture is no less interesting than that of the house in Alisande's picture. Neat capture you got there. Hope you don't mind if I use it as my wallpaper.

Russell Sturgis (October 16, 1836 - February 11, 1909) was an American architect and art critic of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Started up in practice in NYC (1863), his works included Farnam Hall, Yale University, New Haven, CT (1869or70) and the Farnam House, New Haven (1884
He was one of the founders of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1870. A very interesting man. I learned a little about him because he was an acquaintance of my Great Great Grandfather and as a young man my Great Grandfather respected him and his work a lot.
