My Mom was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia yesterday her blood pressure dropped to 60/40 last night. She's 91 years old and has been suffering from Alzheimers since '92 but it got worse after Dad died in '94. We moved her to the town where I was living into a retirement apt and I went over and checked on her and prepared meals for her. I got divorced and moved away 9 years ago today. Her ability to live on her own ended and she moved in with my sister. After a few years with her my other sister took her to live with her and Mom's health failed even more as the alzheimers progressed. We put her into a nursing home after she was admitted to hosp and they thought she'd only survive a few weeks....that was 4 years ago. She weighs 70 pounds, hasn't walked on her own in 7 years, has been bedridden and not talking for the past 5 years. Her life consistes of sleeping in a fetal position, being fed pureed food and just existing. Her care at the nursing home has been excellent and she has had a few days when she would talk a little. It would be a blessing if she could go be with Dad (his birthday in Fri Nov 6 and that would be the perfect present we could give him). My sisters are staying with her at the hospital, I'm waiting for "the call" to get on a flight back. (I live in England now)

On another note, some of you may remember I posted about a month ago that a burned body found in a barrel in Colo might be my sister's step daughter............they just found out this week it was her. Her arms had been severed and she was put into a barrel of oil and burned leaving only a few bones for identification.

I don't ask for healing prayers for Mom, rather that she can finally go be with Dad like she's been wanting since 1994.

Cindy I am so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful boy he was. I know how much it hurts to lose one's furbaby. No other dog can ever take their place because they have laid claim to a piece of your heart that will always belong to only them. If you are like me tho, you will always find room in your heart for one more to claim a place as their own. There are so many out there who need loving homes just as Rusty did. Your heart will tell you when it's time to rescue/adopt another. It hurts so badly to lose them but the joy and love they bring while they are with us can never be equaled. My prayers are with you and Ginger.

I was going along fine until I read you were due 2 days ago! I sure hope your most important addition is not much later and the delivery is a smooth one. I guess this drama with the kitchen is good in that it keeps your mind off of being late. FWIW - my second son was 11 days late and was 9 lbs 5 oz. I have no clue what he was waiting for, lol. His delivery was much faster than son #1, as it took 2 real pushes to get him out (not induced). I guess I was beyond ready by then! When you are late, it is easy to want to rush it along. When you are in the midst of nursing every 1.5 - 2 hours, you may wish you had some more time to rest first ;) Best wishes for all your new chapters and hope you get pampered and taken care of in the midst of all this. Sleep is a real priority!

Thanks guys for the " cool " feedback. ( smile ) Now have a more recent discovery to relate ! Am still somewhat speechless ! About 2 hrs ago, this mornin' I went out to visually check on my plantation,..look at my current girlfriend first, that almost 3 week old, ever blossoming Goldfinger banana stalk. " Hmmm, about 3 inches longer, just overnight,...wait, something different,..what ? Could it be TRUE ??? There are now TEN ( 10 ) hands clearly developing. " This is insane,..maybe I made a mistake,..count 'em again while lookin' closer,..yikes, it's true !! That amazing stalk NOW HAS TEN " HANDS " OF BANANAS !! What have I created here ? Never saw a nine hand stalk,..now it's grown into a ten hand one. Just had to let my fellow GW'ers know. Will take another photo when it's done growin',..will probably need a wide angle lens !!!

Sad to hear of all of your family's complications, Moni. Sending some good thoughts and hopes for improved health for both without complications, soon, and offering some prayers on your behalf. Maybe check with your house insurance as to how often your home needs to be checked when you're absent in order to keep it in force ... and have the watchers keep a log. Wishing your Mum a gentle reunion with your Dad when she is ready. I worked as a carer for people with Alzheimers' for years and understand some of what you are all feeling. Hugs to you and your family. Beth

Your mom's story sounds so much like my mom's I could cry. Believe me, I know how hard this is on your whole family. Your poor sister has double sorrow. Saying a prayer for strength for all of you.

Diane, I wish a quick, peaceful passing for your Mom. It's not her lying there anyway. She 'left' 5 years ago. I'm sure she would want to go be with your Dad too.
Prayers for comfort for your sisters step-daughter. How horrible. I hope they find whoever did that to her. What an animal that person must be.

Bless you. I went through 15 years with my Dad and Alzheimer's. I was very relieved when he finally passed. My Mother is now in early stages of Alzheimer's.

I understand exactly what you mean. My mother died of Alz. and it was such a release for her and a relief for my dad and sister and me. God bless you. I pray she'll go very peacefully and painlessly. Prayers for your sister, too, she's facing double grief. I wish I knew some uplifting words for you, but I just hope you'll find peace.

Mom is being moved back to the nursing home today, but seems about the same. No more dips in blood pressure last night. It's just a wait and see sort of thing. How her tiny body can fight off any germ is beyond me.

So far no leads on the murder (as far as I know.....my brother-in-law is the biggest gossip when it's about someone else but won't say anything about his own family) His daughter had been in a lot of trouble (drugs alchol etc). She's only a few years younger than my sister and hasn't stayed in touch with them ...actually I think she was told about 30 years ago to not come around until she got her act together because they didn't want her and her "friends" at their house. But regardless it's a terrible way to die.
