I don't own a tablet, and can't afford one and really not sure what I'd do with one if I had one....

I do have a question. They are refurbished, what happens if something does go wrong with them? Do you have any recourse with woot or the company?

Apple brilliantly marketed to the school and education segment >20 years ago and has an overwhelming position now. As a result, nearly every school system overpays for technology equipment because they buy the most expensive product lines available (Apple). But in return, that huge presence has resulted in a robust market for software, ebooks, and systems on an Apple compatible basis.

Personally, I have no use for a tablet either, but I know a lot of people who have them and love them. I'm no Apple fanboy, far from it, but I think I'd be tempted to get an Ipad or a Kindle (depending on intended use) if it were something that interested me.

Katlan yes there is a time period of protection for them, I don't recall right off what it is. You can also purchase the square trade 1 year protection plan for it. If you click on one of the tablets, I clicked on the red Asus, you can read more about it and will see the offer by square trade. I see that one also comes with a 90 day warranty from Asus. They have good support.

When I bought my first tablet I thought it would be just a new plaything. Now today with the tablet I have, I would be very upset if I didn't have it. I use it every single day and night. I find I am rarely on my computers. Which for me is great. At my computer I am in my wheelchair, using my tablet I can be extremely comfortable in my recliner, couch, chairs, bed. So I love that aspect too, it easily goes anywhere. And unlike my laptop I don't have to worry about it over heating and keeping the vents on the bottom open by using a flat surface. A tablet doesn't have those issues.

I thought it would be a plaything, but it has become a very integral important part of my life.

About the funny things that are on woot, you just have to know woot, they have always been silly like that, but I order from them often and never been disappointed. To really find out the information on the item click on it and then you see the real specs and information.

Thinks strongly about getting the Red 16GB one. Trying to decide if the 1 year warranty is worth it....

I can only tell you what I did. I bought that same one, mine is dark blue, I didn't get any other warranty, it comes with the 90 day one from Asus. I have never had a problem with it. I know you can get brand new ones that are a lemon as well. I was happy to take the risk.
That decision has to be up to you.

I did however go through and try out all features on the tablet and keyboard dock immediately after I got mine so that I could deal with it with in the 90 days.
Mine has been updated to Jellybean android with no problems. I just hit the check for updates and it found them. It's possible that these may come updated.
You can search amazon and other sites to compare prices, that price with the dock included is great, cheaper than I paid. And of course there are reviews out there too.
I am seriously considering buying the red one for my husband, he is using my Vizio tablet, but he basically uses it for reading books.

I purchased my tablet from Woot, it is the same as the one shown in red, but a very, very dark navy blue. I did just as Raven suggested and as soon as I got it checked everything out and kept a sharp eye out for any problems for the 90-day warranty time period. I love having the ability to remove the keyboard. I use the tablet every single day and night. Personally, if you want one, grab it. It is $50 cheaper than mine was.
